Social Justice Transgender and gender identity discussion

theres no conversation to have, idgaf if you disagree with what words mean, that doesn't change their definitions
There's also conservatives who believe that any person who hasn't undergone medical surgery approved by a professional does not fall under the definition of transgender.

I believe transgender includes non-binary, non-conforming and those who haven't undergone surgery.

Would you consider someone who hasn't actually gone through a physical transformation, transgender or do you believe they need a separate catagory?

who cares what delusional nutjobs believe?

and we're not talking about trans people here, you're trying to say that words mean something different than their definition

I'd much rather have a conversation about it.

Using your definition for bisexuality is that same reason some conservative groups have started the "drop the B" movement. They think that it is in direct conflict with the definition of transgender and therefor should be erased.

It's literally the definition of bi-erasure, what you are attempting to do.

Bisexuality is an umbrella term, just like transgender.
Exactly, and just because someone is bisexual it does not mean we are not attracted to, or would not date or have a partnership with someone who is trans.

trans people are part of the binary spectrum. they're not some third "other" that's neither man nor woman, trans women are women, trans men are men, full stop. non-binary, on the other hand, are neither; if you'd date a non-binary person then you'd be pansexual, but if you're still restricted to male and female (which obviously includes trans) then you're bisexual

I'd much rather we stop persecuting people with different sexual orientations and identities

but if this is that big a deal to you, it would correctly be "lgbptqia"

Could the OP possibly have offended enough groups in one statement here or what? 😂

It’s almost not even WHAT he said, more HOW he worded it, like it was tame enough you can see a point in what he’s said (so he can back out quietly if need be?)

We had a trans lady here who wanted to play womens football.
She felt the men’s team inappropriate for her and too rough (fair point too, they are thugs)
Only trouble with that idea is she’s a good 6’10, easily 5 foot wide and built like a tank.
The average woman on our team weighs 55kilo and is lucky to be 5’7.

It really did need to come down to safety and sadly the review board rejected her appeal and as far as I know she’s unable to play at all now.

Which is discrimination no matter which way you look at it really isn’t it?
Even though I do get WHY they said she can’t play in the women’s team.

Difficult issue, but I’m still crazy proud at how far we have come in such a short space of time with it.
Only 16 years ago my best friend couldn’t be her authentic self due to prejudice and only 10 years ago my baby cousin was beat to within an inch of his life (2 steel plates hold his brain in now) for being ‘openly gay’ (HIMSELF that is) on a train one Saturday night.

As for labels. Seriously. Do we have to?
I get so confused and I don’t want to say the wrong thing and there’s ‘asexual’ ‘pansexual’ ‘bisexual’ ‘transexual’ And I just can’t keep up
Anyone wanna do me a chart with each type so I can learn them all?

What is a female who is in a relationship with an open (born male) transvestite known as? Is there a name for that?

transvestites are simply cross dressers, has nothing to do with sexual identity. if you mean a cis woman dating a trans woman then they're lesbians

As a pansexual, I prefer to use the umbrella term, bisexual.

You are over-complicating an issue that really is already difficult to understand for most people.

You aren't helping anyone.

This is also an assumption. One or both of them could be bisexual or even (gasp!) pansexual. You could call them a lesbian couple, however it's your ignorant assumption that they are both lesbians.

For those who are stil having trouble understanding the difference between pan and bi, I'll try to give you an example you might understand. A logical word problem if you will.

Lemma:
Jon is a small and upcoming Xanax dealer. Jon has exactly 10 Xanax bars that he needs to sell and is willing to sell any amount to anyone, even if it's just one at a time. He just needs to come up quick, no-what-I'm sayin'?
Mike is a xanny bar addict but only has enough money for two xanax bars. Mike calls up Jon and asks Jon if he has two xanax bars to sell to him. What does Jon say?

Outcome #1 (tathra's solution): Jon says "sorry, I have 10 bars to sell, and 10 doesn't equal 2 so fuck you."

Outcome #2: Jon says "bring the money, bitch!"

Conclusion: Outcome #2 is the correct answer since Jon allows customers to buy as many or little as they want.

I suppose it is a joke as is the term, Hasbian.

This is not my blog but it shows what Wolfgang and I are trying to explain.

I have a sweet sweet gf who explained this to me in such a beautiful way that it’s stayed with me for 20 years now and as a rule is how I prefer to define sexuality for myself in a non offensive way to those who prefer to honour their identity with labels. To each their own hey?

She put it so simply.
‘I don’t prefer men OR women, I fall in love with and lust after PERSONALITIES not something as superficial as gender roles or how a person looks or dresses.

I just thought this was the most logical way to conceive something that’s actually not even any of our business really anyhow

I keep seeing a commercial on tv for I forgot what, but the gist of it is someone can be fired for being gay or whatever in 30 states. Is this really true? I thought there were already laws against that.
