Social Justice Transgender and gender identity discussion

Research it, just type in Google USA states that do not endorse ENDA. You will find articles, a list, maps, etc.

Yeah, I'm finding some more stuff about it... It's definitely news to me, I didn't know employers could do that. They'd probably get their business burned to the ground tho in this day and age. I still haven't found any articles about someone actually being fired for being gay or whatever tho.

Noyfb. And comparing circumcision to a child having a sex change is beyond retarded. It's this sort of shit that makes me not even care to try to learn anything about lgbt issues.
It's ok to be closeted, but don't come into a discussion about about gender identity if you can't put your big boy pants on.

You seem to think that surgery on children is extremely wrong so I'm trying to find exactly where you are drawing the line. I don't think you ever gave it much thought, instead you were quick to judge and ridicule me. My question about what we do with intersex children is still on the OPERATING table if you ever want to address it.

I'm cut and find that I'm happy with the cleanliness it generally provides over uncut. Being a mostly conforming cis-male, it's a subject that I'm very interested in. It's my identity.

I'm sorry that you aren't comfortable enough with your identity to talk about it, but if you ever change your mind you are welcome to join the conversation.

theres no conversation to have, idgaf if you disagree with what words mean, that doesn't change their definitions

trans people are part of the binary spectrum. they're not some third "other" that's neither man nor woman, trans women are women, trans men are men, full stop. non-binary, on the other hand, are neither; if you'd date a non-binary person then you'd be pansexual, but if you're still restricted to male and female (which obviously includes trans) then you're bisexual

What is the definition of transgender? What exactly makes you think that trans people cannot be non-binary? What is "the binary spectrum?"

Surgery at childhood is pointless when it comes to transgender relates surgery, may as well not worry about it as can't remove boobs that are not there and reassigning genitals is such a tricky and still experimental thing there is no way a child would be put through it by a proper doctor.

As for circumcision, oh relax that's just a snip snip no worries, not exactly real dangerous and and not the issue at hand.

Kids and having to be a parent that is responsible for these things , that would be impossible. Mum's and dad's would just do what they think at the time is what would make the kiddo happy.

My daughter is very tomboy, hasnt shown any interest at all in anything about boyfriends but has already had a "boyfriend" as in they sit next to each other at school lol.

Just going on 6 is too young to know what's her future preferences, she doesn't know yet either.

The few intersex kids who are put into surgery to "fix" their genitals are often times similar reasons as to why a common male would get circumcised; basic health reasons.

It's still their identity.

Serum testosterone should be the determinant perhaps. The question is a matter of unfair performance advantage: supraphysiological serum/free testosterone for a given gender would be a unfair as far as athletics are concerned.

Then again my serum testosterone is supraphysiological for a man apparently and perhaps could have me ostensibly removed from sports (though i play no sports unless you include weightlifting, though never in a competitive context

I think a combination of anatomy and natural hormone levels should determine biological sex for intersex infants/children. If it’s a borderline situation, then inevitably there will be some arbitrary decisions made.

being a victim of forced genital mutilation is not a requirement to speak out against it

stop mutilating childrens' genitals without their consent

There are all kinds of extremely consequential decisions that parents make for their children. Bringing consent into the equation is kind of ridiculous.

We were talking about infants... but ok

Circumsicion isn't really on topic but overall in regards to how kids are raised and gender identity, surely people have noticed various trends and how they change over time.

It was not long ago left handers were punished as that meant the devil , all kids had to be right handed.

Circumsicion was just the thing done here as it was done in England, it would have been weird if a boy didn't get citcumsiced in the 50s. Now it is weird and hard yo organise if it's what the new parents want.

Kids used to get their tonsils out as routine, appendixes too, get exposed to childhood diseases deliberately to get immunity , were teased if they didn't behave and fit in as girls and boys should.

Things have changed a fair bit, acceptance and inclusion of transgenderism is great and all but theres nothing wrong with "boys will be boys" tshirts or girls who want to get married and stay at home mum.

Sometimes the people with more tradition ask mindsets are just assumed to be bigots and disregarded.

I think you're absolutely right about that. It's a delicate time right now. Hopefully the situation improves with time. Right now there's a whole lot of intense reacting.
