I should do night shifts. It's 2.40am here and I'm always wide awake at this time (and never in the morning!) :\
 
That's why I prefer night shift, it's just before 9 pm here, and I'll be awake till after 4 if I don't work, later if I do. So 10 to 6 suits me well, used to do 4 to 1s for better money, miss that job.

Haunted plantation house actually, the actual useable square footage is about 1000 sq ft, the rest is occupied by portals to he'll, but hey it keeps the rent down.

I worked the whole festive season, only had the 25th, 26th and the 1st off.
I am starting to feel it now am tired and long over due leave but my boss is a slave driver actually....

I like night shifts...I work 7:30 to 7:30 in blocks of dsys then blocks of nights...

I much prefer nights....I finish work, go to the gym, eat and then sleep like a baby from about 9:30am until about 4:30pm then get up...have a shower, eat, prepare my food to take with me and the go to work..

The roads are quieter during the night which makes the driving easier too.
 
With being on vacation from work and all I find myself grabbing a jacket, flashlight, holster, 2 mags and a pistol, then heading off for a nice 3-4am hike. Sunrise ones are cool too watching Venus slowly fade with the dark blue pre-dawn sky emerging.

lol...seems a bit extreme with the firepower to go for a walk (unless you live in Afghanistan) but that's cool.

If it were Afghanistan I'd have a G-36K with the new Accu-Point tritium system, but here in Southern California I like to go through the flood control tunnels, large unlit parks and types of places people only go in horror films, but then again maybe I just have insecurity/ control issues??

I was in Afghanistan for 18 months (not all at once) and even a G36 wouldn't be much help if you went for walks alone. Even going for walks with 30 of your mates armed to the teeth and an Apache circling over head was pretty dicey

Maybe with a Predator Drone Overwatch on multi-spectrum IR? Wouldn't do much for the IED's or Mortars with a fix on your location though. Okay how about a squad with M-240 SAW's and a couple PSG-1's with the overwatch drone? And maybe a QRF a few mins away? Awfully idyllic scenario but yeah even 7.62 x 39's make their way through level 3-a Body Armor.. Not the easiest place to stay frosty..
 
I used to regularly walk miles at night, drunk, across Oakland.

I was unarmed, cause why? The secret is to look poor. Nobody bothers you.

Oakland has streetlights though.

I wouldn't walk anywhere alone at night here in SA armed or unarmed (and Im female too so you know I am scared...)

In my younger days have done the drunken shuffle home in a group though and then thinking to myself "how the fu*k did I get home"

Not a fan of the PSG1 or any semi auto sniper rifles for thst matter...

Good old British made L115A3 chambered in .338 Lapua.FTW

Edit ...I dint think 7.62 short penetrates level 3a...anything short of a 7.62x51 green tip or a.338 and your usually OK
 
A friend of my parents had a mental patient that hid in their bushes then decided to walk slowly across the backyard towards their sliding glass door with a pipe in hand as she tried to get the door locked at 2 am. When the cops came he hid on the neighbor's roof for hours before they finally got him. Not that it's a regular occurrence in cookie cutter suburban Huntington Beach but after that I became a bit more vigilant. If there ever was a perfect scenario for a double tap with hollow points..

The Lapua is got to be the closest thing to a perfect medium energy round with good a ballistic coefficient. Not everything requires a Barret.. I do like your Brit Bull pup design as well..
