Mushroom season coming... I like using Google Earth satellite images to find large areas of lawn where P. Semilanceata might be hiding... :D

(this is just a random satellite image, not to imply that there would be any shrooms in that particular location)
 
^ I live in Finland and here you can find some of them already in late August. Some other mushrooms appear as early as June. Last January we had temperatures as low as -28 deg C (-18.4 deg F), so it's a bit colder here than in most of Europe.

Earlier this week I saw a large patch of some strange small mushrooms with a thin long stem while walking around town, but they were fairy ink caps...

You get a free change if you become a mod. I still haven't used my free pass, but I've come up with a few names I think I might wana switch to. Right now, the leading contender is "Cream Gravy?" hahah

I believe that you can also donate 15 bucks to bluelight and they'll let you change your name.

Hyvä meininki. Academic promotio party this weekend and I'm going to get a diploma that's written in Latin and I can now wear a special golden ring in my left index finger as a sign of having a master's degree. :)

Ah, I'm getting there, starting my third year in university soon. What's your major?
 
Had an amazing day yesterday. My friend is moving to another city so we had a farewell party. The old gang was there, a lot of cannabis, alcohol and 3-MeO-PCP were consumed. Infinite amount of laughter and love was present :)

Physics, and I graduated over two years ago already. The "promootio" is not arranged every year so all who have gotten the MSc/PhD degree in the last three years are formally promoted now. Of course all of them have already gotten the regular degree certificate. I did PhD studies for a year but now I don't have any funding at the moment.
 
I just got notified that I passed the last exam I wrote before the holidays. it was a physical chemistry exam, so I'm super happy about this :D

kinetics and electrochemistry. I haven't done the one which is mainly thermodynamics yet, because it's a much much tougher exam. learned twice for it and each time unsuscribed because what I studied would have never been enough^^
 
Anyone seen the new Netflix original series "Stranger Things"? It's like a cross between Super 8, Twin Peaks, and the X-Files, with a suitably amazing neo-retro 80s soundtrack. It's simply the best thing I've seen in a while. I had given up on modern television till I watched it. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it, especially if you liked any of the above mentioned shows or movie!

I'm with ya all the way on that man, but slightly worse (or better? I dunno how you look at the had but lost vs never having had at all thing), as you know. I can't even encourage you, 'cause that would be some disgusting hypocrisy, so I guess all I can offer is solidarity. If I have learned anything, it's that life offers unexpected delights and opportunities at the most unlikely of times, so there is a non-zero chance that things will improve, but maybe they won't, I don't know.


In other news, just went out for a cigarette and saw two V-22 Ospreys flying overhead...WTF. We don't even have any military bases near here. In spite of my hatred for American militarism, tiltrotor aircraft are friggin' awesome, I must I say.

Xammy you are on a ROLL! Keep it up but don't forget to take a breather once in awhile. Yesterday I finished a highly successful 4-day 3meo roll. Loads of magic, road that line like a tighrope walking over a cliff, helped a lot of people out, brought myself back to equilibrium, made lots of smiles, connections, gifts, art and color of many different mediums, and and didn't get into any trouble. That is how to fly.
