EADD Heroin discussion v.21 -- Big shout out to kkattastic :)

I remember that program, in fact it's on YouTube if anyone hasn't seen it. I remember thinking at the time that there was no way in the world you were going to have that poor lass sorted in only five days. IIRC she was on a massive amount of benzos as well taking 500mg of diazepam a day. While the other two were going through serious wds at the 2-3 day mark she was fine and it wasn't until the fifth day that she started feeling sick. Even giving her naloxone didn't speed things up. She was in for a long, long battle. In fact I think it's pretty disingenuous to accept people for detox 5 who are on methadone as it's just medically impossible to get the detoxed in only five days. Even five months would be pushing it.

Perhaps stopping ct wasn't the best way but at least I'm now off the shit and knowing what I do now I'll never ever go back. I just have to deal with these never ending wds combined with the pain that was the whole reason for me being on it in the first place. Suffice to say life is not easy at the moment.

....tbh Eng'z I never really understood your motives. out of all of us here who take 'stuff' recreationally you had a genuine reason as you suffered/er from pain - and I presume you still have the pain but no relief? to me its like saying no to insulin if your diabetic. YOu did an incredible thing that no one here could do unless forced (I jumped off 60mg once and lasted a week) BUT I still don't geddit. Maybe you explained in a post that I have forgotten about - sorry but short term memory come to that long term isn't too clever -

To cut a long story short mate. My GP retired and the new one wouldn't keep up my prescription for reasons known only to him. They wanted to palm me off to a DSP but I couldn't keep up with their silly appointment requirements due to work so I got really frustrated and thought fuck it.... Im sick of jumping through hoops and being made to feel like a piece of shit so I just jumped off. I'd wanted of opiates for a while as I felt they weren't helping my pain and I'd tried reducing and also tried jumping once before with no success. This time however I'd just had enough. The worst part now is just an awful feeling of anxiety all day long and I can't sleep at night for more than an hour or so without waking up due the pain in my hips. I just want a normal life back but that's proving really hard at the minute. I'm pretty fed up mate.

I suppose GPs, like the whole of the NHS, are under enormous pressure to meet targets. Palming awkward patients off onto other services ticks two boxes at once: the patient is "making progress" and their drugs come out of a different department's budget. And somewhere along the way, they lose sight of the real people who have been reduced to figures on some spreadsheet somewhere .....

Does anyone else get excessive saliva production when rattling? For me it was one of the most annoying symptoms. I swear I sat and filled a half pint glass with the saliva flooding my mouth in about 20 minutes. It was fuckin relentless...

Sounds like you become something from 28 Days Later.

fuck yeah, like just every single pore and gland in my body goes into overdrive. streaming eyes also but its my nose and anus that seem to have the majority of the fun in withdrawals.

englandz, you are a fucking hero coming off that much meth. how long has it been now? it will get better eventually but to be honest i have no idea when as ive only had a habit of 85mg per every 2-3 days or so when i couldnt get any heroin. stopped cold turkey and the meth definitely prolonged things.

My anus is usually alright, not too much squirting fun. Although there were a few times last week while on holiday when I had to run like fuck to the pool toilets. Nasty. I blame the ice cubes in the large gins I was downing. I bought some lope and consumed the whole packet before flying home, I had a horrible nightmare where I got the skitters on the plane, imagine that? Queue for the bog half the length of the plane, ending up doing a wet one in the briefs, everyone retching at the smell and you had no change of gear as it was below cabin? Fuck that. I wouldn't recover mentally from such a scenario.

I came off last Xmas but went back again. I've currently been off 21 weeks tomorrow. Also Julie is right about being treat like a statistic. Some doctors just couldn't give a flying fuck about their patients anymore. Working for the ambulance service I know all about working for a cash strapped service but I find that attitude towards fellow human beings who are in need repugnant. Makes me embarrassed to work for the NHS sometimes....

Yeah i certainly get that happen to me as well FUBAR. Along with constant crying eyes and sweaty armpits and that horrible smell that invades my nostrils when withdrawing. When i'm using gear i hardly ever sweat in my armpits even on hot days but as soon as i start to cluck on comes the sweat.

One of the worst things I noticed was the enhanced sense of smell where everything just stunk. The smell of you own body is enough to make you retch no matter how many baths or showers you have. I get the overproduction of saliva thing at night sometimes but I think it's because I'm sleeping with my mouth open. Also the constant double sneeze thing is annoying, especially when you've got a broken rib and it really hurts. I've just bought some ibuprofen spray from the chemist that I'm going to try on my bad hip tonight and see if that helps at all. The only withdrawl med I have is a couple of strips of colonidine but if I'm honest I think it's overrated even though some swear by it.

I'm never sure if it's my literal stinking like death, my increased olfactory perception making me think I smell like death, or my increased olfactory perception helping remind me that yes, I do stink like death.

<3

PUKING , SHITTING,SNEEZING, STINKING, rls....bUT THE WORSE FOR ME is the no sleeping for days and the craving, knowing that a tenner will make things alright again (everytime ive done ct is when I have run out of money) noew I get a private script and some money each month to spend on gear so all's well.

@eng'z have you tried getting in to a pain clinic?

turned some birthday moneys into btc and have another g on its way due to arrive thursday, gunna be fun, I ate fucking 840mg of dhc yesterday split into two doses, didn't really do much if i'm honest but haven't had the slightest feeling of a rattle so that's good i guess

Not so much nowadays but DF118 (DHC) used to be used in place of methadone or subs by DSPs. Seems a pretty poor choice to me as it's one of the weakest opiates available and methadone is one of the strongest.

I dunno man, I find a high dose of it completely gets rid of rattles and doesn't have severe withdrawals itself.. I know I'd rather get a maintenance script of dhc than methadone, if only for the fact I'm not gunna get hooked on it like I would methadone
