This is too funny not to share. So apparently the guys at Lego have co-opted my name and used their imaginations to turn me into 'Lord Vortech', An evil character in their 'Dimensions' line of products. Coincidence? I think not. LOL! http://en.brickimedia.org/wiki/Lord_Vortech

How do we know that their depiction of you isn't accurate? They could be trying to warn us.

I agree that there are some dangerous new drugs out there, particularly some cathinones due to cardiovascular effects and NBOMe series for seizure risk. That said, these are still a tiny piece of the pie. It's the classic drugs that are responsible for >95% of drug-related emergencies. I work in a major metropolitan psychiatric ER (also publicly funded) and we often test for cathinones and synthetic cannabinoids (sent off for GC-MS) in addition to the usual stuff. I'd estimate out of 100 intoxicated, psychotic/agitated/delirious drug users that get brought in, 90-95 of them are using meth, crack, or alcohol (or some combination thereof), 2-3 are using cathinones, 2 are using PCP, 1 synthetic cannabinoid (as the primary drug), 1 GHB, and 1 a psychedelic drug. Heroin users don't tend to come in agitated (obviously), but they make up a decent portion of drug-related emergencies and deaths. Also, in my experience, the cathinone and cannabinoid users are no more psychotic, agitated, or more difficult to sedate than the meth/crack/PCP users.

I think we can agree that none of the above are good choices for multi-day heavy drug binges nor should they be available at your nearest convenience store.

It would be cool to exchange notes. My patient population is having a tremendous and surging problem with SCBs. Now in the context of all drugs they are probably still a minority but I'd wager here (I'm not sure where you are) the proportions are higher in terms of the novelties. It is, and I hate this word used with reference to drug trends, an "epidemic." Especially with homeless, street people, SPMIs, which is the main population I work with. I guess you have a better budget than we do because the best we can manage is a so called "K2 assay" which tests for JWH-018, -073, and a few other relics from the last decade. GC/MS on individual patients outside of a death would be out of the question for budgetary reasons. But the level of psychotic agitation I see with these, especially whatever the newest round of analogs is, is really astounding. Granted, this in the context of previously existing severe mental illness, but I've seen people on crack, PCP, not that much meth here, and other stuff, but the lates SCs really take the cake. Though granted they are often combined with cocaine or alcohol. PCP is not all that common here but does exist. Gross and florid psychosis, severe agitation, violence, the usual disrobing, etc. disorganized, stereotyped behavior, but some weirder stuff: catatonia, seizures and myclonic jerking. a particularly unusual presentation I've seen several times in the streets and at work is this: the subject is staring blankly upwards, one side of the body is held rigidly out like catatonic posturing, the other one is myoclonic. Sometimes I've seen them doing this standing up, and sometimes falling to the ground. The latter looks a little like nitrous users "fishing out" but it's oddly unilateral. I don't know what in the hell is going on with these guys but it looks very scary and makes me suspect there is some serious pharmacological unpleasantness if not frank neurotoxicity going on. And the long term psychiatric sequelae, the jury's still out on this, look to last much longer than cocaine or PCP. Physiologically who knows. Alot of the chemicals look potentially carcinogenic. These are legitimately terrible drugs. I don't think analogies to the more traditional vices do them justice. I could go on with crazy stories but that's probably better brought up by private messages if you're so inclined. I would actually love to chat about it with a colleague from wherever you're from ...

Heh, I never really trusted street drug type situations and would probably feel very paranoid and vulnerable in say NYC, but here in my town I recently just approached some potheads in my neighborhood in a really chilled out way and bought a little + got a contact which I have not followed up on. (instead I got a weed refill at a hashbar as they call it in Pulp Fiction - here we confusingly enough call them coffeeshops... in the centre city of the netherlands - the place that basically banished me in terms of housing availability (I have to bide my time 0-1-2 yrs....)
NYC isn't so bad. Open air doesn't exit anymore but make some friends and one finds a thriving scene, the most coveted of course being a good delivery connect. I of course don't have any friends in the local scene anymore, or maybe at all, since I basically had a nervous breakdown and ran away from the whole trainwreck that was my own scene for a good few years. Back in the day though talking of cold copping most of my street experience was in Jersey TBH which is ironic because people used to come in from Jersey and the license plates would be in certain hoods a sure tell for the cops to know that this was a whiteboy in to cop dope, now it's the opposite. NL as I understand is quite a different scene. Can you pretty much still score whatever drugs you like walking through certain parks in Amsterdam and stuff? Do "smart shops" still exist? Are they selling weird RCs now? It's been a long while for me ...

Honestly buying drugs online scares me more than any hood. Sending your dox and your money to some email address, and then receiving a package and the worry that causes. Especially internationally. I have never, will never. Doing that safely will at minimum require a considerable investment and quite a few felonies and red flags including multiple fake IDs ideally with supporting documentation, a post office box obtained under that name, extensive computer and other technical and operational security measures which are sometimes more sometimes less openly known about and which God knows how vulnerable they are, and the problem of course being that the information you exchange is not at all ephemeral, these records will stick around for a long time. Most people who are into minor stuff probably will be ignored, but who knows? I've heard of people done for receiving pissant quantities of, say, LSD, in the mail, but other drugs too, I mean like on the order of a tenstrip or so ... there are just too many uncertainties. Dealing with someone who you know and trust in the real world is a much better way of doing business TBH. It takes time to build that trust, and I'm sure it's the same online, but I can't shake the fear of dealing with someone who's hand I can't shake or who I can't shake down in the event they rip me off. Not happening TBH.

I agree with SKL. I would rather go thru local connects and get stuff. My problem was, I cut off or broke ties with the heads I used to I know.
Honestly, lately, the best stuff I got and was offered was at a certain jam-band concert. I like them too much to mention them here.
So, is that the best place to forge relationships or pick up psychedelics?
This brings me to another question/opinion.
I have a chance to goto a Wide Spread Panic concert next month. First, I like them, but am new to them. Does anyone think that might be a good place to meet people before a show or whenever and possibly get some items? Thanks all.

^^ Sure -- but it won't be as easy as, say, a Phish show. :)

Just keep your eyes and ears open as you walk through busy parking lots on way to venue. You just might catch someone whispering "shrooms" or "nugs" or something of the kind. The best way is to just talk to a lot of people, make friendly -- you'll find something. :D

Seriously though guys I'm kinda bummed about how the MXE party turned out. I.E. fizzled out due to the bans in the countries that had been producing it. While the future of the drug is uncertain, for now it seems MXE is offically vintage. I'm sure there will be still people trying to sell analogs as MXE, but so far none of them have lived up to the hype. Ephenidine does seem promising however. It is possible that someone will do a custom synthesis big enough for distribution, but it will likely be more expensive than MXE used to be, and there's a good chance it won't be the highest quality that we have seen.
I have to rephrase my book talking about it in the past tense. I guess all we can do at this point, those who have been touched by this drug, is do our best to integrate the lessons it taught us into our lives and learn how to continue the energy work that MXE opened our eyes to. Meditation, Yoga, dance and intentional breathing exercises, in conjunction with awesome music seems to be the best way to achieve similar heights that we found with MXE.

You got it. I was talking about the banger Phish show I enjoyed in'August. I have watched two full Widespread Panic shows today and they won't top Phish in my book, but they are awesome. I'll play it cool and mingle. Thanks for the great advice.

Ooooo looking forward to tomorrow evening down the coast, even if it is forecast to be a bit gloomy. Got a 'glamping' tent/cabin thing booked for tonight and tomorrow night. It's like halfway between a 4 person holiday cabin interior and a phat tent outer, with a badass BBQ on the deck haha. Got laptop, speakers, multi coloured LED candles, glowsticks, aaaaaaand ~7g of dry cubes hehehe. Should be a satisfying trip I'm hoping; the setting should be lovely and serene even if it rains... ESPECIALLY if it rains perhaps haha

Wondering if I should prep a capsule of MXE or not to toss in the mix...not sure it u could be stuffed haha

However I may even make it tonight, given its 1pm and I've not yet eaten... Will see how tired I am when I get there methinks

Does anyone know if there would somehow be a cross-tolerance between MXE and LSD? I'm taking a solo acid trip in a week which I've been planning for weeks and don't want to ruin, but I'd also like to do some MXE tonight.

The proliferation of exotic drugs beyond rather selective circles is a very bad thing. See the social problems of cathinones and cannabinoids, and God knows what comes next. I don't know SONN and I don't know if he's responsible or what circles he moves in but leaving stuff around and unlabeled isn't a very good indicator nor is the choice of friends ... and then the guy rips off some other guy's methylone? Everybody just has weird drugs laying around? What kind of social circle is this? How old are these people? How much do they really know about what they're taking? I mean this shit is getting way too open and popular. It will end in disaster and is bad news for all involved. I used to have an epic collection of drugs but it wasn't laying around or for the use of casual acquaintances or shady friends, they wouldn't even know it existed.

Pandora's box is open, where's the hope at the bottom? Harm reduction, I suppose, but a great many evils are gone out in the world.

the guy grew up with us, he's typically responsible because hes in the army he just has no self control when it comes to certain things (especially methylone)

I've had some great times with him, there were plenty of times where I wanted to go to a show and nobody would go with me but him, he's a pretty good guy at heart.

It wasn't laying out it was in a drawer he knew to look in because he saw me grab things from it before, and at some point while I was moving I left my collection in his room. Bad idea because he used that as an excuse to pilfer small amounts of things from me occasionally :|

if it was my choice I would have probably stopped hanging out with him a long time ago but he moved in with my best friend (who got me into RCs) my sophomore year of college.

at least now they're all scared shitless of doing anything like that ever again.

trust me when it comes to me and my best friend we have researched a LOT about everything we decide to take and try to use them as safely and responsibly as possible.

edit: indeed it seems the golden age of MXE has come and gone. It's too bad, I can genuinely say its magic helped me a lot while it was there. I've had conversations on MXE that I would be bawling my eyes out unable to speak about sober

SKL's harm reduction guide to buying drugs from hippies: a brief primer

Part One - Hippies IRL (if you can tolerate the smell)

Concerts with thriving lot scenes are not so common as they once were. Sourcing drugs at drug oriented festivals, however, is incredibly easy but the trick is to avoid the scammers and the heat. The latter is easy, unless you are buying truly copious amounts from someone they are watching already, the odds of you getting snagged are practically nil barring you doing something stupid. Now, on to meeting the right people. This is the first step in eliminating the scammer and the taxing middleman. To do this at a bare minimum you have to buy and show interest in both quantity and quality, and to give the impression that you are connected enough already, even if you're not. Look the part, be the part. Your task is essentially the same as an undercover police officer, and it's helpful to think of it in those terms - you are there to infiltrate the network, get above the retail level, and achieve your goal (scoring good drugs, or busting people, as it might be...) Study the music, the subcultural mores and language, fashion, etc. Maybe you hate the music. Maybe you hate hippies. That's OK, if you're a good enough actor, but if you're going to try to score drugs in their scene you've got to at least appear to be integrated into and respectful of it. You might think people would smell a poseur immediately, but not really, most people are too fucked up on drugs and too hungry for money to give a shit. Drug dealing in these sorts of events is basically a numbers game, as in safety in numbers ... there are too many dealers to go after, X proportion will get busted, there are too many shady dealers around, Y proportion of people will get bunk shit. To avoid bunk shit steer clear of to good to be true prices or wild claims about potency. Tell anyone who talks about micage or purity of L doses to fuck right off unless he immediately admits that it's just marketing or pulls out an LC/MS result (I have actually seen done this on shakedown and the product was top notch.) Most people who talk about "crystal lines" and stuff are lying hippies but some of them are deluded hippies and sufficient numbers of both deluded and lying hippies have access to good drugs. "White fluff," "Swiss Criss," "Silver," "Amber," this is all hippy bullshit, but you can't discount necessarily those hippies' merchandise and trying to educate them will probably only offend.

Another good strategy to avoid bunk shit, in at least small festivals, is to buy some pissant amount, tell him you'll take it and come back tonight, throw it away just to make sure the temptation doesn't get the better of you, then wait 24 hours, then try to look for the guy that sold it. If he's not there, he's probably done a runner because people are looking to beat the shit out of him. The of course do the rest of your vetting, testing, etc. But I've seen alot of bunk sellers clear right out after I guess hitting their $$$ targets. The ends of the festivals are at once a time people try to drop the bunk and a fire sale on the good stuff, all under pressure. Not an easy atmosphere to operate in without some experience under your belt. The beginnings are mostly targeted at low retail custies who just want to get spun for a show so this might be the easiest time to get bunked. The second day, when people are chilling at camp, is the best day to wander around and make contacts. But yeah Bluelight is rightly fond of saying don't go without a test kit unless you already know who you'll be dealing with. Tell anyone who's offended at you busting out a tube of Ehrlich to get fucked. Also, the blacklight thing is largely mythological.

Don't get drawn into headier than thou or west coast vs east coast hippie drama. These people might ramble on about love and light but eventually the guns, knives, and getting sprayed in the face with powerful drugs come out, if you get in too deep. So basically, don't get in to deep. Don't mix business with being very high. Don't mix business with pleasure or recreation much less sex. Deal with professionals only. East Coast crew tend to be more professional and West Coast crew often have cheaper drugs, but they tend to be insufferable elitists and weird New Age types, but if you can convince them that you are one of the cool kids, which is difficult if you don't know a bunch of them going way back to MM/DD/YY dead/phish show or have some kind of magical energies ... well, they are into a lot of weird voodoo ass bullshit that is best avoided even at the cost of a slight tax on dosework. They will also scam the shit out of you if they think they can. Not that East Coasters won't, but the West Coasters (speaking from my experience which is mostly on the East Coast) are worse. Finding the professionals is the tricky part. Some people will tell you to avoid anyone with dreads but this hasn't always been my experience. Middlemen can be a pain in the ass and an added expense but if they are trustworthy they can be useful, a tax of no more than 10-15% is reasonable in bulk to semi-bulk quantities, decreasing as quantity increases. People from a similar cultural and geographical background to your own are almost always better. I'm a White man originally from a rural part of America and have always had much better experiences from people with similar backgrounds (even if from a different part of the country.) I don't work with people from different backgrounds as there can't be the same rapport and they tend to favour the in-group. Be vary wary of tight knit communities although these are also some of the best soruces. Also, don't work with college students, they tend to be irresponsible and have a lot to loose if caught by LE hence a propensity to snitch.

Part II - The Challenge of New Technologies

In this Internet informed age a lot more people will know how to talk the talk and instill confidence, but so will you, this is sort of the premise of this pep talk, and hopefully your bullshit detector is helped by this as well. Avoid the hell out of anyone who mentions any drug website especially sourcing websites in real life. Go to a few festivals just to get a feel for the scene, do some weed or coke or whatever you fancy, avoid serious drugs, just take it all in, after a few it will feel like old had and you'll start learning the basics of operating in that world. Then your next quest is to take it to the next level and find a phone number or hopefully a cryptographically secure method of communication. Establish a relationship. Talk socially frequently and build trust and rapport. See them again at the next show. Eventually you get some quality introductions and can drop your pretense and really start to feel like an actual member of the community sharing in their practices and mythologies and the occasional tidbit of gossip passed word 'round the campfire. Soak it all up and continue to integrate into your new world. Then find the next festie/show, find the particular circuit your new friends are on and schedule stuff accordingly. Again, avoid, avoid, avoid the darknet, or anyone who talks about the darknet. Run far away. Again, test, test, test. There are rapidly evolving ways of defeating tests and then defeating those measures, keep up on your chemistry. General tips: Avoid elaborate perforated blotters, some of these are good but the blotter art is readily available online so it's an easy avenue to create a product that looks impressive but is a ripoff or worse. Lots and lots and lots of LSD is on plain white paper. Question European LSD and much of the rest that comes out of that part of the world although their MDMA is usually excellent, but LE knows exactly who ships what where, so never work internationally. Never buy overpriced LSD because of claims of potency. Even if 250/500/whatever ug hits did exist they're not worth correspondingly more than 80/100 ug hits especially if you're planning on reselling (who do you plan on convincing?) Avoid China, the Netherlands, and all other known hot spots when at all possible. Eastern Europe is often surprisingly decent.

But fuck all that, remember? We're avoiding the darknet. We're infilitrating the hippie circuit, but surprise, maybe it comes time to do a little import/export business. Get a proxy (not a computer proxy, a human proxy, with the odd combination of desperation to make a few bucks and trustworthiness not to run off with your shit, so most junkies who might otherwise be ideal candidates are right out...) to work internationally but they had better be either insanely well compensated or scared shitless of you. Don't be anybody's proxy. Don't be suckered into "Just pick up this package for me i'll give you 25%." There are operational security measures for receiving packages but they are probably beyound your pay grade. Keep off the Internet, assume Tor is compromised, assume the end is inevitable (remember, Cassandra-like, I was calling out the imminent demise of Silk Road only a few months prior to that particular bit of Fremdscham. Avoid Bitcoin, too unstable and too big a target. Real pro's use vac saced cash in a radio-opaque wrapper or in a cookie tin, and the good old US Postal Service. (Never overnight, if not in a tin or whatever, as flat as possible.) Trouble is coming, and we'd best retreat to our old habits, practices, cultures and networks. The worst thing is that these scenes are withering becuase of the corporate libertarian shit, but that, too, shall pass, and hopefully the old networks will survive, but they will, they've proved durable through Nixon, the War on Drugs, Reagan, "...and half a dozen other sons of bitches."

So, in substance,
0. Turn off the computer
1. Find a scene
2. Research the scene in detail
3. Learn to act the part
4. Enter the scene
5. Build trust in the scene
6. Soon enough you are the part
7. Make connections
8. Socialize and build trust again
9. Meet their connections or at least get them to be middleman
10. ????
PROFIT
