How can we get this place active again?

^ I would completely agree. The whole thing was very badly handled in my opinion. But it is in the past and let's hope nothing even remotely like that ever happens again. I know my opinions of a number of people changed drastically during the aftermath of that whole sorry episode. Really does make you wonder about some people's mentality :\

The concern I have with a weekly competition is that we don't have enough people posting to make it meaningful. I know the whole point is to try to perk the place up a bit and ideally tempt in some fresh blood but I have a sneaky that if we instigated a weekly competition it would just end up with a handful of people winning every time cos there are only really a handful of people posting in the grand scheme anyway. That could easily just end up making the place seem even more cliquey.

Competition isn't a bad idea but I think it needs to be on a far bigger scale to make it worthwhile. Something that takes some level of effort to have a chance at and runs over a period of time to give people who don't post in or read EADD regularly a chance to see it and hopefully want to take part. Also probably needs some type of "prize" other than a poll saying somebody won. Custom titles have been awarded for similar things in other forums so there is history of those being used as prizes and people really do want to get one usually. Winner keeps the title for a set period and the rest of BL frequently ask why that person has a custom title which raises the profile of EADD every time it's answered. Everybody happy. Would mean thinking of something relevant to actually compete at and nothing has so far leapt to my mind (aside from the Erotic Writing/pile of jizzy tissues idea which I do rather like myself - SLR may get jealous though ;)). Needs to be something a bit bigger in scope than best post or best anything we do anyway though I'd say. Needs to be something related to EADD but not something you could win accidentally.

I dunno, like you say there's probably about half a dozen people that seem to be on here all the time, but 10-50 or so, that regularly drop in, and 50-100 occasional visitors, and a number of people that disappear for months or years and then suddenly spend a lot of time posting, before they disappear without trace again.

Do you have access to stats like the top posters in terms of posts per day ? I was on 7 posts per day last time i looked, I'm trying to get that figure down, not because i dont enjoy interacting with the people on here, but because my k/w and associates have convinced me that i should be looking to broaden my activities into doing more than taking drugs all the time and posting gibberish on here.
 
Stats like that are posted at regular intervals in Support I think. They are posted somewhere and often get reposted here. Not so often very recently maybe cos it's been a while since I remember last seeing them. Does tend to be the usual suspects in more or less the same order each time though - with a couple of places spared for those who post loads then disappear.

Sex is a fundamental necessity in a relationship for most people so a lack of it is a perfectly normal reason to break a relationship up.
