The Travel Thread - I am lovely and respectful to all in my path PLUR <3 xxxxx

Holland is great, even if i was in hospital within less than an hour, not sure about Amsterdam but everything was so cheap in Maastricht, 5.50 euros for 40g baccy, 7.50 for 29 fags as they only sell 19/29 didn't know that kinda fucked but w/e.
Jupiler was cheap as fuck in a kinda aldi type place, think was 14 euros for 16 bottles and you take crate back get 4 euros back, nice stuff that 5.2% iirc.

Planning to get back over there in june/july with a pit stop in Sweden to see a mate

Was going to make an new thread but meh,

anyone been to the Czech Republic? Prague specifically, any reccomendations where to go, see, eat, drink?

Any decent places to stay? etc etc

Forgot the names of the places I've stayed, but the Cross Club is a pretty cool club in (I believe) northern Prague. Plzen and Brno are nice little cities too

This map is awesome, you can see it closer in map detail

http://www.cityspy.info/spy_map.php?city=Prague

So many amazing and incredible places, every single one I went to was an awesome time, you can get a physical copy of the map in any of the hostels listed here and in some of the places too

The little "islands" in between the two sides of the river are an awesome place to chill out

go to kampa park, its real close to the historical center (but on the other side of the river) and then go inside Kavárna Mlýnská for a good time, its a cafe bar, the map description is

"from the park Over the Èertovku, Devil stream as the big wheel keeps on turning. & behold the old Mill works ..
open space, there is a sudden feeling of well being, like in a poem.. the offer & the service is simple, no exaggerations.nice price!"

and its quite accurate

Thanks ^^ sexNcandy i will check that out, trying to get a better view as all google is giving me is a load of "STAG DOS" shit.

Any good watering holes? I hear also its easy to get ripped off in the taxis, is the metro the best idea?

There's no point taking a taxi in prague. It is very compact and you can and should walk everywhere. It's a great way to get to know the city and get to see different parts of it you wouldn't otherwise get to know.

The metro is good but doesn't cover a lot of places. The trams are awesome, will take you pretty much anywhere and are very cheap, and actually there's almost never anyone checking for tickets so its up to your conscience. Just ask at the place you are staying what trams are the best for you and ask them to draw on the map their routes and stuff.

The last time i stayed kinda far from the historical centre, but it was nice cause in the morning I would just walk to the city and it was about a 20 minute walk downhill in the sunshine, taking the tram back at night.

And of course, it's super safe. Drugs are widespread and used in public, and its incredible how safe it is at any time of night or day.

There's plenty of awesome watering holes. That map has a list of many of them but just walking in anywhere you have a good chance of ending up somewhere proper.

Hello all EADD BLers.. you probably don't know me since I'm relatively new and usually stay in the Other Drugs section.

I'm traveling to Europe in a couple days with my boyfriend and thought I'd just put the word out and see if y'all have any suggestions for me! I'll be in Paris (May 15-June 1), Brussels (June 1-8), and Berlin (June 8-23) mainly. If I budget my money alright (read: don't end up wasting it all on opiates like I usually would) then perhaps some day trips outside of the cities too! I'm probably going to visit a few places in Belgium as it seems that the train within Belgium is pretty cheap, especially if you're under 26 (like me).

I'm an art history student (starting grad school in August) so naturally I am looking forward to visiting museums, monuments, cathedrals, etc. That's all pretty obvious but if anyone has some favorites they'd like to share that would be cool. I'm sort of hoping to make this a quality over quantity type of visit. Not trying to burn myself out seeing everything possible. Also, good cheap food is essential. Cool bars? Music venues? Generally not into clubbing but I'm also intrigued by what the kids are up to in various places so I'm open to nightlife suggestions too. Plus, I like drugs and so does my bf so yknow.. Clubs do have their appeal.. Locals who know of specific events happening is appreciated too!

I read that whole Foreign drug scene thread but it was kinda like reading yelp reviews of something.. People have different opinions and all and all it's hard to get a real idea of what the deal is so I guess I'll just have to experience that on my own and maybe add my two cents.

PM me or answer here! :D

Amazing places and pictures. You did a good job taking them and clearly had a good came to work with. I'm sure you had some great moments there.

what time of the year was it, as in what month?

That's hard to believe, you did a good job taking the pictures then. Hopefully i'll be backpacking through south america soon enough

You'll have an awesome time either way so just take it easy and go with the flow whatever happens. Get lost in the cities, take different ways to get to places, make sure you go out of your route.

In belgium check out ghent, it's a charming student university town that usually has some night life going on. maybe the type place you and your boyfriend would have a good time together.

Berlin is amazing, an underground type of city that's there for the taking. I recommend you stay in kreuzberg or at least go there for the nightlife. Make use of the nonstop u-bahn and other transport systems during the weekend. there are many different neighborhood with great scenes happening of different stuff...

There are great chicken places in kreuzberg... legendary street food places all over town

Drug scene? It's easy to score where you are going but you'll be targeted as a foreign traveler so it's also easy to get ripped off.

For main attractions such as culture, museums, you can look it up online in places like tripadvisor or try to get a good city map, http://www.cityspy.info is a great one that also has advice on street smarts and its given at the places it advertises in

I was thinking about checking out Ghent! Also like the idea of walking/wandering around and getting lost, etc.

I'm staying in Neukolln in Berlin, which is pretty close to Kreuzberg it seems, so I'm glad to hear that!

And yeah, the foreigner getting ripped off scenario is something I'd very much like to avoid.. I am fluent in French but I have a Quebecois accent so that probably won't help my cause much! My German is not that great.. Been meaning to refresh my memory.. Whoops. Probably won't make a fuss about this unless I meet some people that seem trustworthy or something. Who knows.

Thanks for the advice!!!

thanks. i highly recommend you go to fitzroy and consider a few days in the torres del paine national park.

indeed. we've likely stood in the same spot, i think...

we barely made it into chile because the border patrol were on strike. we waited at the border for nearly 8 hours then got in. had to bribe our bus driver into speeding like crazy and changing his route to drop us off at the pehoe ferry. we got to refugio paine grande about 10 minutes after they closed the trail to refugio grey so we had to sweet talk the park guy into letting us hike up there anyway. he did so we yomped to grey, making it by about 15 minutes before dark. it was a long day...

Haha, exact same spot by the look of it. And yeah, talk about long days.

Wanna know why I look so shit in that picture? 6 months around the world travelling and I got the shits twice. Once in Hanoi (uurghh!) and once in Puerto Natales in one of the poshest restaurants we ate in. 24 hours before we left for torres del paine... :\

Argentina is on the cards for next year but I'm more keen to watch the all blacks play the pumas and salsa dance my way through Buenos Aires while filling myself with beef and red wine. South America definitely agrees with me from experience.

Currently in New York and loving it it. We flew a helicopter around manhattan Tuesday and saw kinky boots on Broadway last night. Piss farted around the Met museum with a couple of blue lighters yesterday and have eaten so much food and drink. Caching a game at Yankee stadium on Sunday afternoon before heading to LA to get our Cali on.

So far everything has been on the little lady's company tab but we have a free night tonight which means cocktails at some speak easy with before mentioned blue lighters. I could get used to this city.
