General Methadone Discussion v. Why the Hell Not?

Hep C can eat it up faster. CYP enzyme inducing medications can too. Just like Tagamet can boost your dose there are a few medicines that can metabolize methadone a lot faster. Have you started taking any new RX meds? Like Mr. Scag said, any WD symptoms would be a red flag that your dose is FUped.

I don't take any meds and my dose ain't holding I know that. I also am under some stress too. I will have to get another increase too.

I sweat my ass off too and I'm sure I'm metabolizing it faster then I was a month ago when it was cold at work.

I'm going on a trip in a few months, so I asked my counselor what I should do about dosing for the week that I will be across the country and he told me that I had to get approval from the state to get a week worth of takehomes for my trip. I know he will bullshit me from time to time and I figured only the doctor needed to approve it. any of yall heard anything like this?

Yea ive heard this from my counselor before. I know it sounds really dramatic but all they need is a signature from a higher up. I know they have to follow regulations to a tee to keep their licensing and i had a similar request when i first started but it was denied by the state, due to the fact id only been on treatment two or three months and never had a clean UA. How much longer til youre on takehomes? Looking back i dont know how the hell i dragged my ass to the clinic everyday for like 8 months. Now i get annoyed w the one day a week i have to go.

If you have cleans and have been on the program for awhile they are more likely to approve your request. The state really keeps the clinics hands tied as far as making a lot of decisions ive noticed. Another option my counselor had suggested was "guest visits," you find a clinic in the area youre travelling to and the counselors arrange for you to get dosed there. I never persued it because i was just going to vegas for the weekend so i just cut my trip short so i could be back to the clinic in time.

real quick question about the mdone u know when u get take homes for sundays they give u a bottle they drop to two orange tablets in and pour koolaid on it and close the cap lately on sunday ive been just opening it up and down the hatch real fast but i have accumulated a hand full of bottles wit a little of the medicine still at the bottom would it be safe to drink the old leftovers from ur past take homes to get a little higher dose just wondering becuz one of them had black specs on it looked like mold so i just threw it out but the rest still look decent

What a dumb way to dispense methadone. Just give the bloody actual liquid methadone, and they wouldn't have to worry about left over gunk, or having to dissolve anything, etc. What a waste of time and just does not seem as efficient as if there is leftover byproduct from drinking your dose, then all the methadone might not have been absorbed.. why wouldn't they just use the liquid methadone?

Thats wut sucks, guess in chicago they get it cheaper so its these orange tablets that r 20mg a piece so wen u goto taper down u could only go by fives. They taste like shit to u have to put some sweet ass kool aid to not taste it. u never could get all of it from the bottom but hey it does the trick, talk about a racket they r tryin to tell me at least keep coming for at least a year im like no most likely two more weeks already down to 20mg after about 2 months. i get charged 50 a week wut to u guys get charged. gotta say i get a lot better sleep on mmt then when i was doin dope was sort of too easy to stop for me.

Yea the orange tablets are cheaper. My clinic offers both, the liquid is better because you can control your dose to the mg, with the tablets you can only control your doses in 5mg increaments. The liquid is only five bucks more a month. One time my clinic didnt get their shipment of liquid in time so i had to get a whole weeks worth of tablet takehomes in the little bottles.

Theyre nasty because they settle and the bottles are so small they cant dilute it that well, so its like drinking chunky metamucil. I always just rinsed the bottle afterwards so i never left any residue inside. Good to the last drop!

And yea, my clinic is 55$ a week but as of this year my new insurance is paying for it.

^^

Yeah mine is cheap too. I pay like 30 or 40 bucks a week. That's nothing. Especially considering, that I'd spend more than twice that in just one day when using.

Haha seriously. I love how much cash I save w methadone, makes me wish i had all the money i spent on dope back. Prolly couldve bought a fat house with it, but then i remind myself that had i not become an addict 99% of that money wouldve never even reached my hands, considering it was acquired through unsavory means fueled by my need to be junked out.

^ I've been on 'done for like three months and I'm still fucking broke. But I'm broke because I'm paying off the bills I didn't pay when I was junked out. So that is a good thing and I see the end too so soon I'll be rolling in cash like a baller.

A friend showed me a letter Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs wrote to a fan who was asking for career advice. He said to become a welder in North Dakota, that they were "writing their own ticket." You know the reason why?

^ the oil boom is happening there. It is hard to find good welders. There is a lot more to it then most people realize. Plus most welders I know have had there problems with substance abuse I am a good example of that. I remember when I first got in the trade my first welding job was working afternoon shift. There was the first boss I had was just a raging pothead then there was the coke head alcoholic and the recovering junkie who would disappear for weeks at a time. What an impression that made on young welderman. When the boss got fired the next boss was a crackhead. So 18 year old welderman got to smoke rocks after work but I didn't really see all the fuss over it. It would be a few yeas till I found my true love of opiates.

Yeah I know the feeling, man. I'm paying off tons of shit too. Taking it basically one credit card a month (on top of all the normal bills). I've been calling the credit companies and making settlement deals with them. I actually have saved a lot. I owed Discover 2000, and I got them to agree to a 700 lump sum payment to clear the whole debt.

So I'm gonna try and do that with the other credit cards and then I'll be able to start saving a lot of money.

^i hear ya man im tryin to mop up the mess too one bill . Just paid off two fines from the courts that ive been dealing with since '11 feels so good to get that off my shoulder finally. The biggie im concerned about is my student loans..25k and got nothin to show for it. I think speakers or school counselors should go around emphasizing the importance of community college for general ed classes...its the same class but thousands less. Wish i wouldve known then maybe i wouldnt owe so much, i became a full time junkie and dropped out after sophomore at uni altho im back in CC now.

But i feel ya welderman even tho im saving money w the done im still broke.

It must just be part of the recovery process. Don't get me wrong I definately have more money now and don't. Have to borrow $xx for gas to get to work or bum cigarets. It could be a lot worse.

Fucking ay man. Metal fab of any kind is not a good trade if you're looking to stay away from drugs. I mean, you're bound to find drug use in any vocation but, metal seems to be notorious for it. Don't know why that is but, I know a lot of old timers that all have "bad backs and knees" and are well medicated for it.
