Schapelle Corby will celebrate freedom 'with a joint', says former lawyer Kerry Smith

Her father was named as a suspect in a ring that was smuggling drugs into Bali - days before she was arrested.
Her neighbour and dad's best friend was arrested and charged with growing and packaging drugs destined for Bali.
She was arrested smuggling drugs into Bali.

At what point do you accept that she was involved? Or, at the very best, her family was involved and used her as an oblivious mule.

All that crap about baggage handlers and this bloke WITH HIS $50K claim above is just complete fucking horseshit.

The simplest answer is almost always the correct one.

She rolled the dice. She lost. End of story. While nobody should ever be jailed for marijuana the fact is she went to Indonesia, she carried drugs, she knew drugs were illegal in Indonesia. She suffered the consequences.

I have to say I don't buy that William Moss guys story at all, 50 thousand dollars to pick up less than 5 kilos of weed get fucking real, people get paid a lot less than that to strap heroin and coke to their bodies before an international flight. If you consider the fact that the weed is not worth anywhere near that (so long as you don't apply the traditional police tactic of pricing drug seizures by breaking down the whole lot into the smallest possible deal for the highest possible price) then it makes zero sense that someone who has presumably had to pay for the cannabis as well would pay this guy 50 large to go pick it up.

In my eyes this guy is clearly lying, what his motivations for doing so are I am not sure.

I got a reply on another forum from someone who said it was that much because -

"He never said it was for one package. It was for a number. Read the Candidate Sources Report!"

Make of that what you will. I guess if it was an ongoing operation, like say he did it 10 times that amount is not that out there. 5 k a pick up. Loads of SA hydro had to come into Syd and other places somehow I guess. It's not impossible alot came thru via the airports with corrupt handlers. SA>Bris>Syd>Melb kind of thing.

I know the pic says 'the parcel', but I cant work out why the guy would lie about it. Just seems stupid to make that kind of thing up.

Her father was dying of cancer, I'm pretty sure he would have easily admitted that he was part of it (or it was all him, and he put it in her BB bag without her knowledge) to try and take the wrap for it if he was part of it. Which he didn't do at all, he never admitted any part in it afaik and has since died. Surely he would have tried to take the wrap if he was in anyway part of it? Or you think he just shut up and let his daughter take one for the family?

As for Malcolm McCauley, yeah he went to jail for 3 years for inter state cannabis moving, nothing to do with Bali tho. Why do you keep hammering the point that it must be her and her family, can't you see that the idea of corrupt baggage handlers is a very realistic possibility and her body board bag could have been used without her knowledge... With CCTV footage going missing and people claiming this that and the other all over the place and a heap of baggage handlers busted at Syd airport I think there is still a huge amount of doubt in this case. And I dont trust the AFP, media and Indos one bit, all corrupt and agenda based. The father and daughter never have admitted guilt.

I'd like to see her do multiple lie detecters in another country, like Germany or something, with many independent witnesses, then I might start to think like you that she is 100% definitely guilty.

Many people have gone to jail for many years all over the world and people thought they were guilty, and they were later found to be innocent. Hell people have probably been executed for crimes they didn't do. Weird shit happens sometimes. it's not always so clear cut and black and white. Alot of the stuff you keep mentioning (and me) is from the media, no one knows the real truth besides a few people and SC is obviously one of them. Getting it from her mouth via a lie detector test would be the best bet for me to be silenced on the subject. It's not some big CT, there's too many holes in the case and it was all done so bodgy it's no wonder so many people have so many differing views on it.

I dont mind that you think she is guilty, and I am happy to be wrong, but I have serious doubts about alot of the parts of case that I have heard and how it was played out in court over there. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if she has been made an example of.

I also understand there is a big possibility that she knew about it and is still trying to cover up for it 11 odd years later, although I'm not too sure what point there is for her and her family to keep saying that. Some reasons may be because they have lied so much they have to keep up the lies as they are so deep, or another may be because they wont more money from interviews later down the track, idk.

The corrupt baggage handlers thing was obviously real tho as a heap of them got busted around the same time involving cocaine I believe it was, so the possibility they were using peoples bags (for various types of drugs) unknowingly is not unrealistic either, and a BB bag would be a good place to stash 4 odd kilos on a domestic flight from Bris to Syd and with CCTV going missing that all adds weight to the possibility she didn't know about it to me.

I give up... Suuuure, she's innocent and it's all a big conspiracy, the circumstantial evidence is just pure coincidence. You win.

But, you don't, do you? She went to jail, served her time and, really, noone except some parasitical "news" organisations and some whacko conspiracy theorists give more than two shits about the whole sordid affair anymore.

I look forward to her and her wretched family fading into obscurity. Although I do wish Schapelle well in coming to terms with how badly she was used by her own kin, both her scumbag father and her opportunistic loud mouth cunt of a sister. I hope it was all worth the price that she paid.

It's all a big disraction from the horrors of Manus Island Detention Centre, the deception of labelling refugee interception by the Navy "protecting our borders" in a veil of secrecy for "national security" - and the horrors of the weasely individuals that make up our top level of government.
Tabloid fodder. Conjecture. Claims by shady people looking to exonerate other not-so-squeaky-clean-despite-protestations-to-the-contrary-people.
It sells papers/gets ratings - ill give the story that much.
But to be honest, most of the efforts to clear Corby's name have led me to feel that she probably isn't innocent.
The AFP (or whoever allegedly 'disappeared' the airport check-in CCTV tapes) may have been looking out for their own reputation/interests by not handing the security tapes to the Indonesian Courts - or, perhaps they got lost through the incompetence of bureaucracy.
It happens - look at the WA senate ballot papers that went missing.
Foul play? Conspiracy? Cock-up? Who knows?!
Best not to make your mind up based on ambiguous evidence though, I reckon.

With the initial public sentiment being strongly on Corby's side, the political fall-out to be seen to be helping this foreign government frame such an innocent seeming (white) Aussie girl would have been worse than the virtual silence in the Australian community when the AFP gave Indonesian law enforcement information regarding the "Bali nine" (in breach of international treaties Australia is a signatory to, stating that our government agencies will not collaborate with other nations to convict people of crimes punishable by death).
There is probably more to this story than we will ever know for certain - but the way some of the main players have conducted themselves does not (in my eyes, in the very least) give me much hope that the "Schapelle is innocent" story is much more than a fanciful spin campaign that keeps the chequebook-journalism dollars rolling in.
I know there are a lot of people who want to believe - but frankly I take more comfort in knowing that whatever scheme the family may have had going, they fucked it up (rather than think that corrupt baggage handlers are operating a generous weed lottery in suitcases across the land).
Although, if this is the case - can I put in an order for a couple of keys of that chunky hydroponics to be slipped into my case on my next domestic flight? Thanks fellers.

I don't mean to belittle anyone's argument or point of view here - but I dug up my original response to the "expendable project" doco back when you first posted a link to it, poledriver....I'm not going to watch it again, sorry;
me said:
they seemed to gloss over the blatant agendas and bias of the corporate media and try to target the ABC. they show a 'clarification' on lateline, followed by a soundbyte presumably from talkback radio, saying the ABC issued a clarification on a story at 4 in the morning. very odd - just one of the strange choices of supporting evidence.

and they made a big point of saying that schapelle corby became a deliberate source of 'entertainment' (as a propaganda tool) - and follow this with guys from 'the chaser', as well as paul mcdermott, mikey robbins and judith lucy taking the piss out of her.
well...yeah - that's what those comedians (all very sardonic aussie comedy folk) do best! especially on the programs that they were on which were essentially news-based comedy tv shows.
corby was big news - and tasteless as it may have been, fair game for comedians' cheap jokes.

the suggestion of a conspiracy there is pretty laughable. which is a shame, because it seems like they may have had some really interesting points involving the AFP, DFAT and the australian government - but it's hard to take seriously when a lot of their sources seem to be talkback radio, a current affair and weird convoluted conspiracy stuff.

Maybe I shouldn't give so much credit to this "revealing" documentary that is supposed to lift the lid on the corruption that saw an innocent young lady imprisoned in a balinese prison hell - but it was so incoherent and unconvincing that I found myself more convinced of her guilt. It's loaded with obvious agendas and ridiculous assertions.

This may be really unfair criticism, but if I was locked up overseas, I wouldn't want clowns like that speaking on my behalf. Yikes!

So rewarding to see last weekend's Ch-10 so called interview with Renae Lawrence absolutely discretited and totally RUBBISHED by the well respected ABC program "Media Watch" with Paul Barry tonight .
Frontline Ch - 10 Reporter Steve Price was forced to retract EVERY single word that he had said last week in support of his belief that Renae Lawrence's testimony was - in HIS opinion, quite credible and that Schapelle IS guilty.

Not only that, but he was FORCED to apologise unequivocaily to the entire Corby family for any hurt or embarassment, financial or ANY other subsequent disadvantage that he MAY have incidentally caused them by thought, word or deed.
He mouthed off that the entire Corby family was involved in the drug trade and that HE -- believed that Schapelle HAD -- in fact smuggled drugs into Bali on at least 3 previous occasions. What a Shithead ! - NO evidence whatsoever -- just shooting his mouth off, like so many IGNORANT others.

You will be aware from earlier posts and testimony from the expendable.tv website, that the entire Corby family have been examined and issued with certification that no member of that entire family has ever been charged - much less convicted of a drug related offence. EVER !

He was forced to admit that His CONFIDENT assertion last week that the Whole Corby family were involved in drugs -- was UNSUBSTANTIATED UNINFORMED and ignorant - absolute BS .

BIG problem is - that Shitheads like Steve Price are MIS-trusted to run a Hi Profile Current Affairs Radio program and thus given the opportunity to influence quite a lot of FEEBLE MINDED people who unfortunately, largely take his word for granted. He is nothing but an Ignorant MOTORMOUTH who will say Anything for money and station ratings for HIS On Air slot.

Media Watch did a Bloody good job of describing Ch-10s poor financial and ratings position in media generally. Not hard to see why Ch - 10 GRABBED -- with BOTH hands the RL so called interview, -- whilst both their rivals Chs 7 and - 9 -- simply laughed at an offer to SELL it to them by some Dopey Bastard called Rakal Eberly for AUD$ 100k.

Media Watch reported that -- "It rated its sox off " for Ch 10 which is GOOD News insofar as it indicates that so many Australian people STILL -- have an interest in the case and have NOT -- turned their backs on the matter, which WOULD be a real worry.
Bottom line -- this so called Interview has been HEAVILY discredited and largely exposed as a sham, tonight on the ABC.

Just how many INTERESTED parties that tuned into Ch-10 last week, will have seen the REVERSAL of faith and Confidence tonight, is hard to say, but hopefully tonight's exposure heralds Renewed MEDIA interest in Schapelle's case and an INCREASING level of Public support for a petition to the Indonesian Government to allow US -- to bring her home.
