Gibberings CXLVI: I've Seen Things, I've Seen Them With My Badgers

dodgy shit at work earlier, one of the chains on the crane fell apart whilst i was chaining something up, if there had been a load of steel on the crane when it fell apart and somebody was near it... crushed or killed or knocked flying

Dan, how do you get into your line of work? It sounds exciting. Dangerous but exciting. Do you have to be able to pull handbrake turns?

I want to chain things up. How do I get started?

Is it something to do with beetroot? I can eat beetroot!

I'm deadly serious by the way. I want to work with cranes and stuff. WHAT DO I DO?

It's doing my head in
Ask Treacle - I think he's the xbox expert around these parts. :)

When you crowd surf in a straight bar / club / mall etc you just know who is interested - from that crowd you pick the guy you fancy - you give him a smile, he smiles back and that's it basically.
Hang on.. how can you tell who is interested, just based on a casual glance around a room?

Yikes, that's bad. This week a guy at the company I work for got killed on a construction site. He was only 26 and it was an awful accident, especially given my company is very very health & safety conscious. :/

Its a crane like this knock. no handbrake. start off with the beetroot and everything will be set in motion

Start with getting your fork truck licence (free on certain courses) - sparrows have a few different courses / look at rigging etc

Its nowt - you can get it for free and well worth having on your cv (I have mine = counter reach / counter balance - get them all).

No way they were the biggest in the world 60 years ago . Them & Stothert N PItt employed a large % of working class folk in Bath for decades till well till Maggie:X

But I googled and:

There is no such thing as a fork lift truck driver’slicence!
There is no central licensing authority.
Every employer has a responsibility, under Regulation 9 of the Provision and Use of Work
Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98), to ensure that employees have adequate training
before they use work equipment. The training required in order to operate most fork lift trucks
is explained in the special Code of Practice detailed below.

But I googled and:

I said Licence ? If you want a fork truck 'Slicence' then I don't know where to look.

.....In theory it may mean nothing - but your in the UK (?), some places will insist you have a 'licence' to work for them in a warehouse setting etc. (I'm old school - not sure about the new fangled rules / regulations etc) .

I have my counterbalance licence !
