Gibberings CXLVI: I've Seen Things, I've Seen Them With My Badgers

My mum sent me an email last night, it's about her brother who's in hospital with cancer, he just had an operation to bypass his duodenum and is going to have chemotherapy. It's pretty serious.

Anyway, she signed it:

LOL, Mum

Obviously she meant Lots Of Love, not Laugh Out Loud, but I lol'd anyway :D

do you like big muscely large framed guys, is that your type, judging by your screen name ?

My screen name? haha - it has a lot of different meanings to a lot of people. I like guys (big hairy guys are a bonus) / nothing to do with muscles just big/hairy day to day guys (have been with hairless before), If they are gym toned, but up their own arse I have no time for them (less space for me).

Do you like *insert type* surely you have met certain types that should spark interest but just don't find them attractive - I hate the idea that as a gay guy you find every man attractive / you would fuck them all.

its correct in as much as it applies to you (and probably many other people with social anxiety issues). Carl Rogers was trying to find a theoretical universal answer that fits everyone. Maybe its all fuckin hokus pokus gibberings, as wide off the mark as Freud was. I have to find that out for myself, but i think he was on to something. Ive allready been able to rid myself of some gulit feelings during my counselling by discovering i wasnt bothered about values that id been socially conditioned to subscribe to.

Carl Rogers ideas appear to have been influenced to some degree by Freuds concept of the Super Ego ( a factor of our person that is built up of norms, values and rules). The Super Ego enables us to be socialised into a group . Its the last stage of his theory of personality but some break free of its restrictions and start to make their own rules up. Not without some battle.

There is some genius in Freuds work as well as 'hokus pokus gibberings'. I find aspects of his theories v insightful. Jungs more my thing though.. hes a lot more mystical in his thinking.

the same mistake David Cameron made, except he hasnt got the excuse of being an older generation.

* and I think people who think they do have more than a tiny handful, probably more like a fingerful, of original ideas in their heads are deluded. And there's no shame in it! The shame is in having a head full of contradictory values and ideas. And maybe that's where Mr Rogers and I agree, I don't think it's useful to have a headful of contradictory notions. But I'm not sure that it leads to anxiety, more just inconsistent behaviour.

We're all made up of light and dark and poles. You cant get more contradictory than that. But i agree if there isnt some kind of unity or a marriage of heaven and hell/light and dark then there can be anxiety.

haha, yeah. david cameron was doin that n all, when fliriting with that posh, newspaper editor bird. kept ending the txts with lol thinkin the same as yer mom.

bearlove/snolly - cheers! fascinating. im fairly sure im completely straight, but enjoy the thrill of flirting - as long as it wasnt going any further, i find the concept of making anyone desire me, ugly, fat, man or woman. its obviously an ego thing

and bearlove, be careful about that jumping on ANYONE in a gay club. in our raving days we regularly attended house of god @ subway city, digbeth, brum - which is a (very) gay, fetish techno club. we went on the ostensibly none-gay jungle/drum n bass events, but the regulars were there too ;)

just to give you a flavour, saw a guy walkin round in there wearing nowt but tiny white briefs, and a collection of old people, 70's/80's maybe - who for all the world resembled the general demograpic of a bus queue outside the bingo - but surrounded by kids on drugs & deafening gabber techno! =D

^ re read my post :D - I certainly have never just 'jumped' on a guy before. Gay bars / clubs etc you can see the guys who are there for fun, the music, who wants to mess about. Depends on what gay bars your drink in I guess - leather fetish bars you can pretty much guess that the guy in the suit at the bar at lunch time want's fun?

dodgy shit at work earlier, one of the chains on the crane fell apart whilst i was chaining something up, if there had been a load of steel on the crane when it fell apart and somebody was near it... crushed or killed or knocked flying
