QUOTE=Ismene;11839454]It depends which drugs - being an intravenous heroin user is a very different use of drugs to tripping on mushrooms once a month.
I don't know whether people who use drugs are anymore damaged than non-drug user. There's a big, easy argument that everyone uses when they get arrested "I use drugs because I'm damaged" in the desperate hope that some fucking pig-ignorant..er..pig..and judge will go easy on you. Or if your parents catch you taking drugs it's easy to say "Oh I'm damaged". I don't think drug users are anymore damaged thany anyone else. It's in the media too - you don't often get people saying "I take drugs, I enjoy them, I have no problem". It's always someone saying "I can't handle life". Obviously that's the image that takes hold because it's forbidden to portray drugs in a positive light in any mainstream media.

Drug users just enjoy taking drugs - like some people enjoy playing rugby or others enjoy climbing mountains. Are you damaged if you enjoy risking your life climbing a mountain?
Sorry, had to copy and paste a few previous quotes from previous posters as I think they hit the nail on the head, wouldnt let me copy directly.
Ok my stance on your question....
Obviously, some very clued up people on here just like when I first joined in 2000 under another username(what username that was, I canny remember)
I like drugs and drugs like me
, nah, seriously tho, I started taking drugs to escape because of a childhood horror that came back to bite me on the arse from when I was 9,the seriousness hit me when I was 14. Only drink and do coke nowadays tho.
Would I have done drugs otherwise? probably. Going to raves and shit in the 90s ya most probably had a few sweeties in ya pocket to dance the night away with certainly enhanced it.
Back to the subject - All people take drugs, from whatever background, rich, poor, toffee nose, rough as a badgers arse people, working class, middle class, up ya own arse class, drugs can be fun but can fuck you up no matter whether ya damaged or not.
