Mushroom Season 2013

Pine forests is also one habitat where subs grow aswell is it not? We walked through a forest at Oberon and there were q few old fallen does trees rotting with other type smaller mushrooms growing around them. I also walked along a a grasses and wood chip trail with no success.

Maybe katoomba ways are a better bet. Can anyone give an insight into where I might be better off looking. After a 6 hour drive we got back and dosed that amanitas, which turned out not that great and we mostly got sick :/
 
ive got a couple quick q's since i went picking yesterday because i noticed it reached 5 degrees over the past night, and had no luck with actives (although there had been hardly any rain for the past week or so)

a) what temp overnight do subs need to start popping up? i heard 4 degrees but im not sure

b) is there a certain mm of rainfall that is good to watch for in the preceding days? i hear people talking about it causing a flush of the next batch of mushies, but does it need like a whole week of pretty good rainfall or is 2 days of heavy rainfall and then going the next day a better idea?

do ppl use this page to check rainfall for hills? bcus it only shows past 24 hrs

'Abundance' was a severe overstatement. I have found 3 Amanita muscarias in WA, presumably growing from the same [pine] tree. My apologies for the exaggeration, heh.

I have found Amanita muscaria's psychoactive properties to vary from state to state/country to country. South Australian ones made me incredibly sleepy and it was a very disassociated trip. Some dried Serbian ones I had were much more lively and visual, but a lot shorter-lasting. This could be due to preparation methods though.

Subs will fruit at night-time temps of anything under 10 degrees and sometimes slightly higher. A good 3 days at least of sub-10c nights and moderate rainfall is ideal for starting a flush, I've found. This winter hasn't been quite as cold as previous ones, at least not up north, but my patches are still fruiting plenty for personal+few friend's use.
 
Going from my weekend trip, we either fucked up the preperation(which we followed to the point) or they just arnt that active. As other have said maybe they are more potent in other statues etc. There was definatly an intoxicating feeling, but the presence of nausea was too overhwhelming.
 
I have tried amanita twice and I didn't rate either experience. The first time I had em they made me really tired and I couldn't stop salivating and the following day I was really sick. Only had about 3g dried.
Felt kinda like the flue with stomach cramps saw muscles and joints etc.
Second time I had 2g and didn't get anything out of it.
 
Personally never bothered with A. Muscaria, always seemed like extra fuck around for something that, at best, wasn't likely to be as good as subs which are more abundant, and at worse could make me sick and delirious. Seen plenty of them in my years picking subs though, they seem to grow on pine needles a bit. Seen a few posters over the years rave about the stuff but overall most people don't seem to enjoy it.

Totally OT but does it ever trip anyone the fuck out that so few people know about Psilocybin mushrooms? I don't think I have ever seen it in the media with the exception of two episodes of 'The Force', both of which make it out to be some rare thing you go to one of a few towns to pick at a very select time of year. I get paranoid when I am out picking sometimes but the reality seems to be that 80% of people have little idea what you are doing, even when it is pretty fucking obvious. On one hand I feel like maybe they don't want to open Pandora's Box so to speak, since out here in Victoria anyway the shit grows like a fucking weed, but the media has ran stories on pst before and just about the only thing easier than picking subs is going to the fucking supermarket lol. Maybe I shouldn't be bringing it up but you gotta figure when the mushroom thread is on page 1 of AusDD for several months every year the media is far from oblivious to it.

Anyone run into anybody they know picking at random? Recently I ran into someone I hadn't seen in probably 7 years picking a spot quite a few suburbs away from where either of us live or went to school, last I saw the guy he didn't take drugs at all either which made it even more random. I have ran into quite a few fellow pickers over the years but this was the first instance of seeing anyone I know out in the field who wasn't picking with me.

Never ran into anyone at all when I have gone picking.
Maybe there is no media coverage of it because it might entice people to go picking and that would be dangerous considering the amount of poisonous mushrooms around as well and it could lead to a lot of people winding up with poisoning. Who noes.
I got quite a few places to pick shrooms up here in Brisbane during the right season but I barely do it just cos its a mish and other shit is easily available. Probably use shrooms once or twice every few years.
 
had 2 tabs of 25i (mexican whatevers) and 3g of subs a few hours later (by accident, was only meant to eat 1.8g) and had the craziest trip ive ever had. Was no bodyload and a really slow comeup. Was playing last of us on ps3 for a couple of hours, started getting lost and confused, then all of a sudden i ran into a wall, then saw 10 of me onscreen running into walls, tried and failed to turn the ps3 off before being this elfy being appeared before me, said something like "nooooooooooooooooope", then I was promptly sucked out of earth onto this foreign alien spaceship. Spent an hour here, was crazier than any of my breakthrough dmt hits, and i had complete recollection of what happened. The first few minutes were so delirious and nonsensical I was pretty scared but managed to accept what was happening and enjoy the exp. Eventually landed on this level where I could wake up and roughly make out what my actual surroundings were but close my eyes and be taken back to whereever i was.

Went to bed, woke up the next morning, had a smoke, coughed up blood and started seizuring on and off for about an hour though. Just before every seizure I had the exact same sensation of being pulled out of my body, but was then followed by blackout, loud ringing in my ears, light headedness and ultimate amnesia, confusion and weakness. Was scared as shit, passed out 3 times crawling to the phone to call an ambulance with dogs licking me on the ground. Ive had a run with near seizures in the past though, no drugs involved. Should I be worried? anyone else had any exp with post high dose psyc seizures? May be my first and last 25i trip, although ive seen plenty of reports of people seizuring on mushrooms

Seizures are an effect of 25i, I don't think that can be attributed to the mushies. Sounds like a pretty insane trip though!
 
I've blacked out on mushies, but I put that down to not eating for 8 hours before the trip, then another 8 hours of tripping and come down, I went to make a cuppa and just hit the floor unconscious, I reckon I just had no energy reserves left.
 
I don't know how "magic" some peeps think these mushrooms are, you cannot have a dry spell and then mature caps the day after it starts raining.
Subs can pin and not fully develop if it becomes dry, I think going out 3-4 days after a good wet spell is the best, although I do believe by weight smaller shrooms are slightly more potent you are better off holding off to get the big fuckers.
In this new spot I swear I did a double take , there are some sub lookalikes just a slight difference in stem colour and texture growing right amongst the goods too, theres no such thing as being too careful.
Now if only they lasted til spring so I could trip and not freeze my ass off.
 
Hey guys, I'm new here, first time poster, and i have recently become interested in trying shrooms, I have never tried any at all in my life or any kind of acid that makes you hallucinate so I dk how I would go but I guess I'll have to try it to see how I like it as I think weed is getting boring now . A bit about me: I'm a fairly adventurous outdoorsy kinda bloke who loves getting out there in the nature, I am also a very fast learner when I'm interested in something. I have read this entire blog from the start overnight and gathered some useful info to take out in the field with me. I know a lot of you suggest getting an experienced picker to mentor me but the problem I have is I don't know one soul with the same interest let alone motivation to get out there and try so I have just purchased the book by Paul stamets" psilocybin mushrooms of the world" on eBay for $34.00.
I'm from south western Sydney and for the past 2 days we have had some rain and cold weather so now might be a good time to go and scour some parks and playgrounds with the dog. If I find any ill see if they bruise and will take pics to send into shroomery.
Also I'm a fairly well seasoned grower of many types of fruits and veg/herbs and have grown mushrooms before very easily(normal ones of coarse) and was wondering about buying spore syringes online, can anyone recommend a site that will send to Australia? It can't be that hard to get them in, I use to get weed seeds delivered here plenty of times in the past. Anyway nice to meet you all and hope to hear from you soon. Good luck

G'day mate, welcome to BL :)

I'm not sure people are allowed to tell you where to buy stuff like that online, there's a no sources rule here, and we arent here to help anyone break the law, especially with regards to importing stuff. Maybe you can get them in Australia somehow, I'm not really sure personally.

I'm not too sure about magic mushrooms myself generally, I've had them a few times in Bali (legally in coffee shops in shroom shakes) which blew my mind, amazing visuals, better than any acid I've ever had, but I've also tried picking them in the byron shire a few times ages ago from cow shit with people who said they'd got good ones many times before and knew what to look for (as I didnt) and we picked quite a bit and ate them and they didn't do hardly anything, they were either the wrong type, or they were so low potency that I hardly felt anything (or I didnt have enough on two occasions), was pretty disappointed really, especially compared to the trips in Bali.
 
I've looked and looked and never had luck finding them. One day though.

At least a.muscaria is a hundred times easier to spot than subs!

It's a great moment when you first stumble across a bunch of them in one place... like a field of big red buttons in the ground saying "Go ahead, push the big red button and see what happens... I dare you!"
 
Hi , thanks mate, ill do a bit more research on getting some prints maybe. Yea you must have got some low potency ones or maybe didn't have a big enough dose, everyone I've spoken to has had great results with them saying they were better than acid!��i went for a walk this morning and on my front lawn under the gum trees u found a cluster of some darkish brown shrooms with a dark center and brown stem, I picked one to see if they bruise but they didn't, as far as I know if they don't bruise blue or purple they aren't active so the hunt will go on. I know a few other habitats around this area that would be great to find some mushi's after this week of rain we are about to have. I'm hooked on trying to find some now!
