^ I can respect that. Well said. I myself am relatively new to the rave scene and culture, I was introduced when I was in grade 11 through some of my brothers friends. I'm on my third year in the scene and when I started off I only went to underground raves and parties and what not but now I only go to "mainstream" events.

As you've pointed out there is a big difference between a "rave" and an "american rave"... At all the underground raves I went to the DJ wasn't on a 20' tall stage the size of school gymnasium focusing on fist pumping, he or she was just doing their duty of dropping killer beats and keeping people moving. They all did this using basic inexpensive set ups cramming in the corner... So I get where you are coming from.

But at the same time I must admit I do love the whole "Rock Concert" set up the mainstream event have. *MOST* have a good vibe to them and tons of energy, especially if they are larger events, aka massives.

Sadly I have fallen out of the underground scene due to the people I used to go with moving away and what not and they were my way "in" so now I'm stuck with mainstream events until I can find more underground raves myself.

One thing I have to say about raving in general, it really brought me out of a shitty time in my life. The main thing that pushed me into raves was the fact that one of my better friends was moving to New Zealand for a year and he was pretty much the anchor to my social life (He would have people over every weekend and throw parties and what not.) Right as he moved away my long time friends stopped talking to me so I ended up going to raves on the weekends with the people who got me into raving. That was my "way out"..

Anyways I'm getting too lazy to type more haha.

TWO MORE WEEKS TILL PARADISO! :D

Underground raves are the real raves... I always see the same people and you quickly find your rave family in it and you always see familiar faces. It's a dedicated community of real bassheads and party animals. Mainstream events are usually full of posers, casuals and douchebags doing moshpits. Illegal raves have much better vibes.

lol my raves are so underground I throw them in my house :D

srs, party at Folley's next friday

That sounds pretty chill, not sure if it would be my thing, I prefer the 100-250 people raves or max 400-500. Maybe when i get a gf (should be pretty soon) then maybe I'll try to setup something of the likes with my buddies, sure thing is I would need to go buy xmas lights in the middle of the summer that would be bit sketch lol.

Next friday I hit up a free BYOT outside rave 200-300 ravers, first time I'll roll outside (apart from my reckless late night roll in one of my city's park of last year... never again, I had a funnn time in the kids section though xD)

I like the blend, we have a good balance. Legal venues, open till 9 AM, mdma is pretty much tolerated, in fact they they are discussing to legalize it at the moment. There's no need for illegal raves here as much as it would in the US, I mean why would you if you can give a party without risk, with awesome equipment :)

lol I got a looooottttt of party shit, pretty much turns this place into a mini rave.

Will be great though as it's probably the last time I'll see a lot of these people

^Graduating this year eh, Folley? I am as well. So much change 8o Kinda depressing going to all these grad parties not knowing if you'll ever see the people again lol.

No genre really ever dies, there are still Hi-NRG producers and gabber producers. Shit just gets old and played out.

House is universal. There is a doc. I think it is Better Living Through Circuitry, that has a clip of Armand Van Helden exclaiming if you want to keep a party going all night, spin 133bpm tracks. I think it is kind of funny.

Edit : I personally dig 115-130 myself.

I graduated last year and have stayed close with about 4 of the 15-20 or so group of people I used to hang/party with. I still talk to and see the other people but not nearly as much... And yes you are right, it is kind of depressing. :(

The worst thing is that my closest friend moved all the way from Vancouver Canada to Nashville so seeing her 3 times a year really sucks... Oh well, time to grow up and move on I guess.

lol. so cute when a guy's girlfriend fights his fight for him. next up - throw a worm? pull my hair?

alasdair
Lol I'm not fighting his fight.
I just find what you say boring.
And so palease talking about starting drama... you clearly like doing it.

I'm not mad at him... he always blows things out of proportions on here.
And nor do I need to chill out...I am chill..lol
I don't need to fight with someone who always tries to act like he knows it all.
Or always assumes...
/the end

The only reason I never take g is because it gives me HORRIBLE nausea except I can never seem to vomit until the peak is over

When is said "biggest" massive... I want to go! haha let me guess 19+? :(

it would surprise me if you hadn't heard of it, it's called Dooms
or Dooms Night and is always the last weekend before Halloween (fell on the 27th last year) It's always been all ages & been at the PNE as long as I can remember. Last year the main headliners were Ferry Corsten, Shogun, Coone & Psyko Punkz. Ends at 7am which is dope & pretty much the whole floor at PNE was filled.
