Thread is made with a touch of irony, of course no-one cares about a single 1990's rap fued... rather, it's been made to draw attention to the industry that makes millions out of 16year olds wanting to feel hard

Hip Hop is all about irony . It lost it's identity ages ago . The only MCs worth listening are the old ones or the school that won't sign on a major label cos they want 100% control & money .

99% of the dudes that were hot 4 a minute in the 00s are back at there Moms

everyone from the west coast is inferior anyway

rappers/producers/ people in general

its all science

Biggie used to rap about slingin rock, that fool never sold anything, he went to private school.
Then again Tupac went to some arty farty dramatic/stage school as well.

rap has gone to shit. 50 cent with his I got shot 9 times bullshit, pity it didn't end him so my ears would feel better.

If I had to choose one, fucking Easy E all the way.

Not to say that Dre didnt have some classics, I still have The Chronic knocking about somewhere on cd !
And who could forget this classic from the Outstanding Movie of the same name

^That's just completely untrue...he was arrested for a gun charge and later a crack charge and it's well known that he sold rock...He wasn't a drug kingpin, he sold dimes

eh.. youre talking out the back of your head. biggie did sell crack throughout his teenage years and spent time in prison (which surprised me when i found out - unlike tupac he didnt go on about it constantly) none of this inherantly makes him gangster, but he wasnt a fake

im fairly certain his school wasnt private either, remember yanks attach a different meaning to 'public school' than we do. he was fiercely intelligent, just not educated

Did a bit of wikipedia-ing and it seems Biggie did attend this school at some point

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishop_Loughlin_Memorial_High_School

Current tution $8,200 a year
Im guessing he wasnt on academic scholarship

Tupac on the other hand went to Baltimore school of the arts which is around $6,000 if your not a resident, however I think he didnt pay anything
He did study Ballet and Poetry though, so for all intents and purposes he might has well have gone to Andover or Groton :)
He also went to school in Marin county later on, which is about as expensive an area as there is in the Bay Area.

Not sure either were short of a bob or two when growing up, albeit who knows where their income came from, I have not seen the Biggie movie but I do recall someone telling me about a scene where his mom found some of the rocks he was slangin but I always thought that was from dramatic effect for the storyline and whatnot

Should have wikied harder.

At the Queen of All Saints Middle School, Wallace excelled in class, winning several awards as an English student.

He may well have been on a scholarship. His childhood poverty is still heavy exaggerated though. (Edit - Not really in the movie, but in his lyrics).

In 1989, he was arrested on weapons charges in Brooklyn and sentenced to five years' probation. In 1990, he was arrested on a violation of his probation.[12] A year later, Wallace was arrested in North Carolina for dealing crack cocaine. He spent nine months in jail before making bail.[11]

I certainly don't think he was ever the gangster he's portrayed to be in the movie though. In the movie it shows him sitting in a basement while folk are bringing him holdalls full of drugs/cash. That's clearly exaggerated as well.
