Making a bog-standard cottage pie. Cold wet day today, completely soaked at work, only just warming up now, heating on too.. :(

It's like sex! ..except I'm having it!

just had a chicken curry and rice, wife made the curry yesterday and not that bad as wifes curries go :)

last few weeks being eating salad almost everyday in work, even started to eat beetroot. don't think I had eaten beetroot in over 30 years and hooked on the purple fuckers now.

did vegetable pakoras for the first time last Friday, so easy to make.

Just had roast gammon wiv honey and black treacle glaze. Was pretty tasty actually. Don't often have gammon but was very cheap and has been sat in me freezer for ages now so thought I'd use it. Had it wiv cheesy mash 'n' stuffs. Was quite yum.

My Middle Eastern / Turkish meal from last night - tomato salad, Foul, Baba Ganoush, Kofta, Onion with Sumak, yoghurt with mint, Pickled Vegs, Roast Peppers. Was gorgeous (even if I say so myself). Wasn't the quickest meal to put together but was really worth the time :)

Bearlove your culinary concoctions are inspiring! I've been lazy recently, I need to return to the kitchen.

Bearlove you have too much spare time! I'm only jealous I think, had bugger all in the way of decent food today aside from a veg stir fry I made at lunch.
Lots work on at the moment so keep forgetting to cook decent things, and don't really have much of an appetite at the moment 'cos I'm too stressed.

Your probably right - I really enjoy cooking and would rather spend a few hours cooking / preparing food than sat in front of the TV etc. I find cooking quite relaxing so it's a great way to relax and you have something decent to eat when your finished.

I hope you get your work sorted out and find time to relax soon.

tonight its a beef stew with pearl barley, will serve with mashed potatoes. proper winter food for the month of May.

like to do a bit of cooking myself, but only if im cooking for other people. some times im home alone and the most I will do is a fry up or a few sambos.

Bile.

The makings of a Spanish ala bogman stew are sitting in thefridge, but the will and want appetite have gone askew.

Shambles- you need to eat more veg and fruit.

Spuds count as veg. As do onions and assorted legumes. And tinned carrots (not that I like tinned carrots but gift horse/mouth and all that). Other veggies cost actual cashmoney. Am actually constantly gobsmacked at how expensive veggies are. And fruit is but a lottery-winner's dream :\

Anyhoo, no need for concern as it looks like I'll be living on baked spud 'n' beans for the next year or so anyway which is about as healthy as it gets ;)

Mash your carrots up with your spuds and make patties out of them :) - Buy a tin of curry powder and alternate between curried beans /beans on Jacket potatoes. Keep your eye out for some 'nearly out of date' cheese - grate it and freeze it (you can lay it flat so takes up no space) snap a bit off and add to beans.

Is there not a market near you where you can often pick up veggies a lot cheaper (especially if you go later in the day).

I'm into those white beans atm - I bought a bag of the dried ones which were really cheap. If you can plan one day ahead with your meals then the dried pulses etc are a great money saver.
