out of any real life tatoo ive ever seen these are the only ones i actually like. They are eerie, strange and wonderful. Are they in black and white DSP ?
Plus if you're an actual hard bastard too you're not going to be getting to much "dissing"

Ya. Those tatts are sweeeeeeet. Am undecided on the tatts issue. I like the concept of putting art permanently onto my body. Would have to be good art though. Those are amongst the better examples I've seen. Another one I saw recently that is absolutely incredible is...
Not the sleeves, the backpiece. Fukkin amazing work. And an appealing theme too. Quite like some of those 3-D tatts actually. A random PooToob linky to a selection of some I was looking at last night. Mixed bag but the one at ~10sec in is fukkin jaw-droppingly good
Also liking the concept of the oldskool 3-D tatts covered by Bizarre mag ages ago...
Not seen any I really like yet though. Would be kewl as fuck to have tatts you need glasses to see properly though %)
Also liking the UV tatts and the "proper" abstract arty ones. Former being a tad bit iffy and the latter costing insane amounts of cashmoney though so not gonna happen anytime soon. Am somewhat ambivalent on the tatts stuffz. If they're quality they are quality. But most are just generic shite - more a cheesy fashion item than a style choice. As such - and combined with permaskintness - I've never gotten around to it and probably never will.
In Friday news, am gutted that so many of me comedy gods are playing within fairly easy reach of me this weekend. Mark Thomas, Stewart Lee, Richard Herring, Rob Newman... the list goes on. Is expensive though so so couldn't make it to any of 'em. That and they all would've sold out months ago. Which is how I've consoled myself

Mine isn't really 'art' and I don't really know what anyone else thinks of it, but I love it and it represents something extremely important to me so I know I'll never get sick of it...which is all that matters IMO.

Agreed, Pagey. Meaning is important to me if getting summat permanently etched on me skin. Although summat truly beautiful and original also matters a lot to me. Quite liked those tribal tatts many years ago. Thank fuck I never took the plunge given they've become the broski's deisgn of choice ever since 8(

Only one I ever seriously considered getting was from a band CD from back in me junky days. Probably a band you'd like, actually. Can't remember who it was for the life of me though. Was a mate of mine that was into 'em. Pic was a kinda logo on one of their albums. Was a silhouette of an opium poppy head with the base morphed into a fish-hook. Simple, graphic and expressive.

Oh wow I really love that very first one. Most of those are really beautiful. Thing is I think a lot of the time people get those tats just for the beauty of them rather than because of their personal significance - not that there's anything wrong with that, just that I wouldn't. But there's no debating they look incredible.

Personal meaning counts ferra lot when it comes to such commitments. Although I think you may be doing a disservice to some of the folks getting "proper" art inked on 'em. Am sure it's become somewhat more common these days but started off as a reaction to the bogstandard cliché tattstuffz. Folk wanted to get art that both had personal meaning and was done by the kinda artist you'd find displayed inna museum rather than a flash book. I'd put some of that stuff on me walls and be dead chuffed to own it so having a personalised piece - unique to me - would mean a lot. Is not just off-the-peg kinda stuff (at least not the somewhat poncy stuff I favour
) so costs a fortune, has massive waiting lists (several years in many cases) and each design is a one-off piece either created by the artist and/or in conjunction with the client. Would be a lotta work - and cost - to even begin the process for owt I'd really want. Being an artsnob can be tough sometimes, dontcha know

If you ever need an address the place I went to was excellent (expensive though - but apparently those circles are extremely difficult to do properly, other tattoo artists have complimented it) and I think they do personalised ones as well. So have you thought about what kind of design you'd like then? / Where?

Is the kinda thing I'd have to put a lotta thought into if I was gonna take the plunge really. That opium poppy/fish-hook one I still think I'd have done one day. Would be cheap and relatively simple. Was gonna have it over me heart (for obvious (if somewhat cheesy ) reasons 8)).
If I was gonna go ferra big piece I'd want summat like those first pix I posted. Fella I really liked (was absolutely stunned when I saw his work) was a Polish fella (in Poland) I think. Somewhere in Eastern Europe anyway. His waiting list is several years long, kinda pricey (although not utterly ridiculous compared to standard tatts) and each one is tailored specifically to the individual. He only does one-offs - designs each one specifically for the client. Truly unique - and absolutely drop-dead gorgeous pieces. Buggered if I can remember his name though. Got an article about him somewhere should I ever happen to come into a few hundred quid though...

I like them. Only 2 or 3 of them are actually tattoos though. The 3D stuff is pretty cool as well, but I'd imagine that when not viewed from exactly the right angle some of them look pretty stupid, like the 3D shit that people love drawing on pavements - looks awesome from the correct angle but just looks like a random mess from the wrong one.
