Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)

It's hard to say since Weidman is so green. He is a stud grappler though and very well could sub Silva. Honestly though I expect Silva to be able to keep distance and use his accurate straight punches to win. Wiedman is not as explosive at doubles as Sonnen so I don't think he will get to him unless Andy is being reckless. Silva also has an iron chin and great head movement so I don't think Weidman is likely to hurt him. Weidman is a great fighter though with a high ceiling.

i feel like weidman is one of those freak young guys coming into the sport.

this was fucking sick:

i just feel like silva is finally gonna lose soon and weidman might be the one to do it.

Silva is getting older and his style is based on reflexes but who knows when he'll drop off. I don't think Wiedman will do it but I've been wrong before and he does match the archetype for beating a guy like Silva. Did you see Bendo throwing those elbows like that tonight? It would have been awesome if one KOd Gilbert.

i mean i think chances are weidman will lose but out of all silva's fights i think this one is the one where it is most likely he loses considering his age and who he's facing.

and yeah, he got that one really good one they showed the replay a couple times. melendez did zero damage and somehow people say it was a close fight when henderson was messing up his legs and landing nice elbows.

I know. I really can't believe people think Melendez won that most of his punches hit either Ben's forearms or air. He was also slowed down considerably by the 4th and 5th rounds from Henderson's calf and leg kicks. It's like if Ben doesn't completely trash his opponent nobody wants to give him the fight.

That's gonna be a sick fight but i wouldnt be surprised if Aldo took it to the ground.
Pettis' takedown D is embarrassing and Aldo's wrestling is extremely underrated.
I think with Aldo's striking and takedowns to keep him guessing he will win the fight.

i just really can't imagine aldo getting KOed even though pettis is such an amazing striker. look at every wrestler pettis has ever fought and you'll see he has struggled. he lost to guida who i think isn't even that good. and then in the WEC pettis had a close fight with shane roller and might have lost a decision if he didnt sub him with 10 seconds left in the 3rd round. pettis is just one of those guys who will never be able to stuff a takedown but if he is up against another guy who is all striking he will look amazing.

Basically how I see it as well. Aldo showed that he has a very quick double in the Hominick fight when he was taking him down at will. Also Aldo has some of the best striking defense I've seen in MMA with good head movement too. If it stays standing I see him chopping him down with leg kicks and countering with crosses and straights all night. Pettis best chance I think would be hitting a triangle in a scramble but Aldo is a nova uniao black belt. Also Pettis is trained by Duke Rouffis so he will be ready. That fight is gonna be very interesting.

Holy eye poke Batman (UFC 159)! What a crazy night culminated by Jones' pure domination of Sonnen then to find out he dislocated his big toe through the skin! Yikes!!!

Cormier is supposed to get an automatic shot at the belt if he moves to 205 and I think he can take Jones. I don't like Jones at all or Anderson Silva. I wanna see them get beat.

I think Cormier wants to fight Roy Nelson next, and the winner of that might fight the winner of Mark Hunt and JDS for a shot at Cain.

Jones won't get beat at 205 (unless Gustafsson pulls off something special). If him and Anderson fight I think Anderson might win, otherwise I don't think we'll see Jon Jones lose a fight until he moves up to heavyweight. And even then I'm not sure who could beat him...

Anderson's edge is on the feet/striking because he has so much more experience. Both of them are very diverse there though. If Jones feels he isnt winning on the feet, he will clinch up and take Silva down where he is most vulnerable. And unlike Sonnen, Jones would more than likely finish him there. It will be a more awesome fight than GSP-Silva by a mile.

The only legit HW who could beat Jones is Cain Velasquez. Jones has never been taken down but I'm confident Cain could do it. He is very fast and strong in that regard.

Someone whose name should be added to the mix is Shogun. He has the ability to take out either Anderson Silva or Jon Jones IMO. Striking ju-jitsu Shogun is a scrapper.

you must have never seen him fight in pride hes a beast. also today tito ortiz said he might have to come out of retirement to fight jon jones.

I agree with everything you said about Jones/Anderson.

And yeah, Cain has the ability to finish just about anyone. That would be a tough fight for Jones, and a great one to watch, I'm sure.

Pride Shogun > ufc Shogun, by a mile.

Except Jones already beat him up and made him tap out due to his striking. Shogun is done as a legit title contender.

Alright, new contender to the list: Dan Henderson. He can take anybody on a given night. Can't be knocked out good wrestling-not as good as Jones-but good enough to avoid submission. I think he can decision Jones.
