I kinda guessed that you might have been using VDJ xD It's definitely awesome for using the keyboard shortcuts, hell better than I could do with the keyboard and mouse!

I started off with the mixtrack pro and did all the mixes of this page with it and the bottom 3 mashups on this page with it (one is super successful too, mainly because it's SUPER mainstream LOL). Definitely a good intro controller, especially if you can find it used like I did. xD

I recently got rid of it to upgrade to this sexy piece

^ So glad I did, still learning more about it every day but if you're not sure if you want to dive right on into DJing the mixtrack is a solid choice :)

Once again solid mix, I quite enjoyed it, happy mixing. :)

lol I'm drunk.. fak it. I got a TON of music that is so un-mainstream it's not even funny... remixes by DJ's I'e never even heard of!! If you ever comedown to Washington I'll have to hook you up with a flashdrive haha, this music I have is the kind of shit that will make you want to take another pill just because you want to feel as epic as it sounds LOL.

Couldn't use any of it in the mix though, it's too fucking hard to play for a girl :p

Yeah get it if your looking for a controller man,

you aint 'mixing' if you just pressing Sync on VDJ.
Mixing is done with platters or on vinyl ;)


might do a Ustream link again this week and play some hard house, then some trance maybe bit of dnb too

- Altec Lansing 2.1 computer speakers
- Odyssey L-Stand (laptop stand)

Currently saving for a nice set of studio monitors to replace the computer speakers along side with a flight case for my DDJ-SX for gigs.

I'll be in seattle for the night on march 15th, going to Lucky 2013 and crashing at some chicks house I met at Above and Beyond last week. I arrive around 4:30pm and have to burn time till 7:30pm so I'm free then! I leave the 16th at 2:10pm. Taking the greyhound so times might be a bit off.

And yeah a shit ton of buttons and knobs! Love the drum pads <3

Yeah the mixtrack did me well, would definitely recommend it for an intro controller!

And yeah I haven't even touched sync on my DDJ-SX, I only wish I could full on beat match without needing the bmp to be displayed.. one day I'll master it. :)

Please do! I love watching/listening to live dj performances! Let me know when and I'll try my best to drop in and watch if it doesn't conflict with my schedule, give me a days warning or so :)

don't you prefer the big platters on the numark mixtrack pro? that's what appealed to me, get it closer to vinyl somehow.

yeah I noticed that after haha. The platters are only really about a 1/4-1/2" smaller on the top surface and they are much smoother to use. My favorite feature on the platters is the LED's to display track position, I'm not much of a scratcher right now but I'm trying to get into it more.

If i had more room id get vinyl decks and stick with my controller, not sure about CDJ's pricey motherfuckers
 
Yeah I'm looking to eventually add two CDJ's to my setup in case of computer issues during a set as the mixer section of the DDJ-SX doubles as a stand alone mixer xD But that is a WAYS down the road.

The company I am DJing for has some CDJ's, haven't had any gigs yet so I guess I'll find out what make and model they are march 2nd when I play. I'm either going to be using my SX with ableton or if I can't figure out the mapping in time I'll be using the companies Traktor Kontrol S4.

P.S. I edited my second last post to include some responses hoping I did it before you guys saw it but I guess not. If you take a look back up (especially Folley). :D

same as me lol i use pitch sliders. however ive dropped a few tracks with paper over the screen lol
i can beatmatch by ear with 4/4 beat
 
Yeah Serato has the nice feature of completely hiding the wave lengths and the bpm, I've tried to beatmatch songs with different bpms but it's always off. If I know that they are the same bpm I can do it all by ear. I've been into music and playing musical instruments for a long time now so counting is super easy for me. :)
 
Anyways, before you disappear off BL again Sam, it was nice talking to you. You've always been a friendly face around here and I think I speak for most of bluelight when I say that we've missed you! :)

So glad to be alive after being hit by a car. :|

I haven't done MDMA in forever, not sure if I would care to do it again, but it is around. I'm trying to prevent PTSD too, so maybe I should do some.

What do you think, Folley?

I'm not sure if MDMA would really help prevent PTSD, though it works wonders to overcome it. Really helps you get to the issue in a comforting way, takes away the fear if you will. I think you should do some either way though ;) Maybe with some of that Cali LSD you have! Those two have always led to an extremely positive trip for me, it's actually what I'm planning on next. Hope you're feeling better man <3
