Do you ever forget certain states exist?

@NeighborhoodThreat I'm from South Carolina and yes I have a accent a sweet southern drawl. Haha I think different parts of our state has differs type accents. I worked at the Medical University Of Charleston for a long time. On the Islands a lot of the local people spoke Gullah or geechi hard as heck to understand! And like where I live if you walk in a store we say hello how y'all doing? And have a good day! But in the upstate nothing they say $5.99 here's your change! RUDE! Their mamas didn't raise them right! Or at least southern anyway! I've always wanted to live in NY or Boston but my friends say I could not handle it I would be in culture shock!
 
I often forget that the Dakota's exist. But then again, I forget that a lot of states exist, since I never hear about them.
 
Yeh there are some unimportant states like idaho or the dakotas or kansas ain't nothin there but flat land n prairies haha.
 
I'm from New York, and I first heard of Oregon in junior high, no joke. I heard the place mentioned in class, and didn't have the nerve to raise my hand and ask "where's that place?" I spent my next free period in the library spinning the globe until I saw it. It took me a while because I was looking mainly in Latin America. I remember being like Oh wow, that's a US state! I was really glad I hadn't asked out loud.

I don't think much about Missouri or Arkansas. Is there any reason to go to either place as a tourist? (I don't wonder this about Oregon ;)

branson missouri is a common tourists spot, st. louis prob draws a few people to see the arch, ozarks mts (both states) have lots of natural beauty
 
@Laika wtf are freedom fries.

I do know that fry sauce (mixture of ketchup and mayonnaise) originated from somewhere out west. Y'all know what I'm talkin about?
 
Today I'd like to forget that Virginia is on the planet. They have wicked laws about speeding aka "reckless driving", huge fines, lots of speed traps on the interstates. Felt very targeted with out of state tags, less than 2 miles from NC border, was in the far right lane, other cars were flying past me, and I had cruise control on!! Grrrr... Ended up paying a lawyer to get it dropped to "defective equipment" and just paid the friggin' court costs and fine this afternoon so I'm on a bitchy rant.
But now I know and the bastards won't get me in their speed traps again.

States I don't care about:

-Everything on the east coast except MA, NY, CT and NJ
-Everything on the west coast/southwest except CA, AZ, OR, WA, NV, CO
-Everything in the midwest except IL, MI, OH
-Everything in the south except for TX, FL, GA, NC, SC, VA

Alaska and Hawaii are permanently etched into my brain because they just had to be different and stay away from our mainland, so that's 29 states that I don't even think about. I've met people from Montana and I'm like "oh yeah that's a place!"

then there is that one place up north with all those ass holes, think its called new york, dont care about it always forget its american

then there is that place all the old people n jews go to retire down south, think its called flower, no no florida. born there but never heard of it

then there is that other place down south with all the land n the one star. taxes. no texas yea that place blows too


but in all seriousness how do yall legitimatly forget about states? i could name every single state in the union in under 2 minutes, we had to learn that fuckin song in grade school

I had to learn them all too but I quickly forgot because

1) You never go to those hick states
2) You never meet anyone from those states (probably because they're all hicks and don't leave)

I still know the general area that those states are in and a basic thing about them. Like when someone says Maine I know "ok that's northeast" and when I hear Utah I think "that's the one by AZ with all the Mormons" but fuck if I know anything else about them.

Edit: By the way no offense to anyone from those states. I'm sure you could say some things about New Yorkers.
