The Snowboarding Thread v. No skiers allowed

Ive been boarding in teluride on one trip before and its a whole different experience compared to California resorts. Much higher elevation mans no icyness and more powder. They have express lifts on every run, something my local resort totally lacks.

Normal season pass price is $1800.... holy shit!

After this week ill be done with finals and it will be Christmas time with family and friends. Then its off on my trip and when I come back I have a softball semester full of swimming, weightlifting and generally fun lower division classes to finish off my degree. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I moved a couple weeks ago and was just going through a miscellaneous box of things looking for my new Kirkwood season pass. Got to the bottom, no pass. Talking and cussing myself for not being more careful when I packed my goods before I moved. Just about to blow a gasket when the oven dings for pre heating, I get up to walk to the kitchen, pass by my dresser and guess what is sitting there all nice and shiny? My freaking season pass with my dumbass mug smirking. lol Ugh, I guess the forecast for this coming weekend got me a little stupid with happiness for the holiday period. :)

First day at Kirkwood this season......and its dumping. Beautiful powder in spite of it not being fully open here because of the storms.

Nothing else matters right now and for the next 7+ days. <3

Holy balls it rained so hard today. Must be a foot+ of pow in the mountains right now.

Snowboarder dies in avalanche at Tahoe-area resort

A 49-year-old California man died Monday after being buried in an avalanche while snowboarding at a Sierra ski resort, one of several avalanche-related emergencies in the Lake Tahoe area after recent storms dumped up to 3 feet of fresh snow.
Donner Ski Ranch, about 90 miles northeast of Sacramento, closed as rescue teams began their search.
The Nevada County Sheriff's Department identified the man as Steven Mark Anderson of Hirschdale, an unincorporated community outside Truckee, after notifying his brother.
The sheriff's department received a call about the missing man at noon Monday, nearly three hours after the avalanche. Deputy David Lade said it took that long for Anderson's friends to determine he was missing. The friends had not been skiing as a group, but rather went their own way in the morning, Lade said.

Bummer

RIP brother

Im so excited!

Looks like they have a few feet of packed base, and all but the most treacherous runs are operational.

Forecast is clear for the foreseeable future.

Bummer alasdair

Ill probably be rocking the ghettoest board in t-ride when im there. Its a 10 year old board I got in highschool with the cheapest bindings I could buy when my old ones broke. I just waxed it last night though so Ill still tear shit up pretty good. Everything else I have is quality gear.

Ill post pics of my trip ITT.

Another thing im really happy about is that my knee seems to be healing up pretty good right before this trip. Ive had a nagging injury for months now, but it never was able to properly heal because I stand a lot on hard floors at work and walking around/sitting in uncomfortable chairs at school always made it worse. I was finally able to get a few days off during the break to put it up and let it heal, right in the nick of time.
