They've just recently started stocking that Black Bottle stuff in Co-Op here. Was wondering if it was up to much. Might just give that 'un a go then. Thanks for the tip :)

Woah didnt know Co -op do it, usually get mines from The Whiskey Exchange website as its realy hard to find in my local Tescunts as its only a Tescunts metro.

I have a Co-op a few miles away, so will certainly look for it

Never seen White Horse on sale here, TLM. Very limited selection locally. Seem to be a few more options being stocked this year though so gradually improving. Got some decent offers on this month too. Will potter come giro day.

EDIT: Pretty sure it's Co-Op that just started selling that Black Bottle. Here at least. Can only be there or Spar cos there ain't anywhere else except the garage that sells booze here and I've definitely seen it on the shelves in the last coupla weeks.

Spars in wales sell booze? no alcohol in em here afaik, gonna try a bottle of black bottle next time i have a bit of money, getting kinda sick of cheapo rum & mixer, mind didnt stop me buying a half tnight. More tasteful whiskey straight would be nice, cant say i've experimented with any brands cept bells every now n then which wasnt too bad. any kinda nice straight dark rum is a few quid i cant afford

I was complaining that their own brand red wine isnt as good as the one Somerfield sold ( Somorfield were bought out by Co-op a couple of years ago)

Before the buyout Somorfield sold something called " first flight" red wine from Oz, which got great acclaim.
After the buyout they dumped the wholesaler, and started selling crappy oz red and doubled the price

Hence the complaint ! :)

I have never seen that Triple wood Laphroaig before.

I think it's only sold at duty free shops. I read it's a Quarter Cask aged in different barrels, it should be quite similar. But yeah, I think it's less balanced than when I first tasted it.

Lagavulin 16 is now £35 quid at one of the major supermarkets( forget which one)so well worth picking some up for xmas

Once you start drinking Lagavulin 16, its pretty hard to drink any other scotches

I think it sells for about the same price here. Standard versions of 'classic' single malts here are between 30 and 45€ in supermarkets. Maybe whisky is actually more expensive in UK than on the mainland...

meh, we all know that co-op wine should be drunk from cans at 7 degrees C ... so obviously

YOU'VE BEEN DOING IT WRONG ;P

bot myself 3 bottles of Bulmers for the evening and either that CWE I did earlier is coming back or it's SOO much nicer than Strongbow!

got me 3rd and 4th coffees in front of me, and second glass of port since finishing work, fire going, got the second half of them jelly beans to eat, me son eats the flavours he likes best, and passes the shit ones onto me.

that reminds me of cream soda drinks ...it's a very sassy flavour!

Reminds me of an icecream soda float (lemonade or coke with a scoop of ice cream in it with a straw). Anyone remember visiting a Wimpy? before maccy dees descended on thee UK? ... they used to have something called a Brown Derby which was a ringed donut on a plate with a huge Mr Wippy style pile of soft ice cream on the top, then covered with chocolate sauce and chopped nuts. YUM

Wimpy was a pretty major treat for me as a nipper, Marmz. Had a thing for their lime milkshake at the time but fuck knows why cos it really was pretty fukkin manky. I remember the first time I went to a MuckD's. Big Macs had just been introduced and looked amazing on the menu. Suffice to say disappoinment ensued. MuckyD's milkshakes are waaaay better than Wimpy's though.

Currently drinking the last of me cider and Vimto. What is the point of 2l bottles of cider? :\

I like Maccy Dees milkshakes too!

Whimpy (is it with an H? dunno!) was indeed a treat for me too, and not par for thee course. I remember there was a Superdrug type shoppie right behind mine, that I used to buy my dad's Hai Karateii (or however it's spelled) aftershave for christmas ... and very cheap mint choccies for me ma at the same time (or the really really very cheap talc or cheap toiletries giftset being flogged by the tills) :D

Ha! Buying prezzies for parents as a nipper was indeed fun. And easy. Wouldn't have a clue what to buy Mama Shambles these days. Goes both ways though (fukkin Slimfast shakes and Cup-A-Soup for me b'day?!? 8o) so she can hardly complain :D

This thread just went super 1980's...love it! Coke floats were the bomb! Pizza hut used to do them as well. In Aus we call them spiders!

You're eating your son's discards? That's not good from an educational point of view. You're king of the house, the leader of the wolf pack, it should be you eating the best ones.%)

Fucking brilliant post Kenny :D Something to bear in mind in future.

Backroll, that dilutuie juice looks minging. I don't like no added sugar drinks, they usualy taste of artificial sweetener, and aspartame etc ain't brilliant for you, sugar all the way please....

I'm gonna have a couple of pints of Ribena, then start on the Thatchers 2011 Vintage (now favoured above Westons, by me anyway, even though it only checks in at 7.4%)
