Hahahahaha, you pair of evil fuckers! I know it's Rockstar and all but even so, that's just cruel.
Does anyone know if these are psychedelic ones? Have a feeling they're not. I know they're not libs anyway. I went all dizzy and weird after I finished picking and then noticed a cut on my finger so I might have absorbed some poison lol was shittin it. Was either that or foraging round too much without having breakfast.

Hi. Have been checking this forum, amongst other sources trying to work out where the little fellas are this year. From Calderdale and have been looking high and low, (particularly high as I live at a high altitude). Went looking at a particularly renowned spot first thing this morning (there's also a golf course nearby), which I've been told is meant to be flourishing, which makes sense as it is at the highest point around. Whilst wading around some sheep fields, the farmer called me, asking what I was doing. He asked if I was looking for mushrooms and went on to say that it has been too wet and cold this year, also that the sheep like eatin em as well. Taking it from a man who owns the land I think it is a pretty safe to say its actually been a pretty washout year, as he himself hadn't seen any. Then again haven't had great luck in the past but have learned that it's all about timing. Just thought I'd report my personal findings.

That's what I've just picked this morning. Verdict?

bumped into a chap i have not seen in 3 years and he hands me 2 portions he picked in the Wicklow mts.

Me too, but with the exception of .... see below!I've always steered clear from mushrooms with white gills. I wouldn't image a liberty cap would be found on a log like the mushroom ( toadstool?) in the pic.
Like Marmalade said.. liberty caps have brown gills but they're not dissimilar in size and shape to the ones in the photo.
THey're also unmistakably golden once they've been baked for a day or two and if you walk with the sun behind you they glimmer. all magically like.
You're wise to err on the side of caution when picking though. Try to find someone whos been picking for a few seasons to show you what to look for for an afternoon.
