EADD 2012 Official UK Mushroom Thread

what's up bumboclaad?

our picking sunday went less than glamorously. fun times were had, we went up near mellifont abbey. found a shitload of mushrooms, being inexperienced we didn;t discriminate and just relied on positive ID from this forum.. my mate has them now but has yet to take a picture. a lot of them were the same colour & size & shape as libs but they were more of a triangle shape in the cap than like a beanie hat, which kind of narrows into itself at the bottom.. i dunno. i'm pessimistic.

in fact these photos someone else posted might be depressingly similar to what we found. no worry. we just smoked some joints in a nearby wood and got an apache. and we were still riding high on enthusiasm from having found anything at all.

what's this you're saying about AMT? i've never tried it but i understand it's related to DMT? i loved that
Does anyone know if these are psychedelic ones? Have a feeling they're not. I know they're not libs anyway. I went all dizzy and weird after I finished picking and then noticed a cut on my finger so I might have absorbed some poison lol was shittin it. Was either that or foraging round too much without having breakfast.

Wassup NEW fang ....
Stick some picks up on this before they get all shrivled !!
I usually i'd them more by the size and slimyness of them rather than if they have a nipple or not .. and the colours not always the same either ...
You know of any fields closer to dublin ? was thinking of looking around howth as apparently theres a few up there ...

And i havent done amt too many times but i had the best drug experience of my life on a combo of that and mushrooms .... well worth gettin

Hi. Have been checking this forum, amongst other sources trying to work out where the little fellas are this year. From Calderdale and have been looking high and low, (particularly high as I live at a high altitude). Went looking at a particularly renowned spot first thing this morning (there's also a golf course nearby), which I've been told is meant to be flourishing, which makes sense as it is at the highest point around. Whilst wading around some sheep fields, the farmer called me, asking what I was doing. He asked if I was looking for mushrooms and went on to say that it has been too wet and cold this year, also that the sheep like eatin em as well. Taking it from a man who owns the land I think it is a pretty safe to say its actually been a pretty washout year, as he himself hadn't seen any. Then again haven't had great luck in the past but have learned that it's all about timing. Just thought I'd report my personal findings.

The way the weather has been this season is going to last a lot longer than usual. But sporadic patches instead of 1/2 mushrooms flushes.

Also, check fields surrounding fields you have use in the past

Hmmmnm picked about 20 while I was walking the dog this morning. Problem is I've never been the one to pick them before. Any 100% tell tales signs they are/aren't liberty caps? If they're not they look the spitting image of them, but I am aware such mushrooms do exist..

I have a pic on my phone but can't upload to PC without facebooking it cos I've lost the cable.

email it to yourself, and get the pic that way. I do that a lot if I can't find mine

or bluetooth it to your laptop if it's bluetooth enabled

haha =D

They aren't libs imo. Libs have dark gills (start off grey and then go to dark brown as they get older)

I see those all the time in my fields too tho ... just trying to find the exact name in my little book for you tho

Brown bell cap I recon. Not active to my knowledge (see the post I made to Botfly earlier)

There's a few different ones round here, I don't think the others are libs either though. I've watched a video on youtube and decided it's probably best not to attempt picking them without being shown what/where/how your supposed to be picking.

I've always steered clear from mushrooms with white gills. I wouldn't image a liberty cap would be found on a log like the mushroom ( toadstool?) in the pic.
Like Marmalade said.. liberty caps have brown gills but they're not dissimilar in size and shape to the ones in the photo.
THey're also unmistakably golden once they've been baked for a day or two and if you walk with the sun behind you they glimmer. all magically like.

You're wise to err on the side of caution when picking though. Try to find someone whos been picking for a few seasons to show you what to look for for an afternoon.

friend got about 200 today already i got about 70 in donegal place is loaded we schroooms gonna be a fun weekend :)

Couple of mates got 1300 in an hour the other day! Absolute shitloads in the right places.

Those ones RS posted are almost certainly the same as the ones I found on the golf course yesterday... shitloads of them. I noticed that there were actually lots of funghi of all kinds (except the right ones) around the edges of the golf course, where the grass had presumably been molested less by mankind. Might be useful to someone.

Me too, but with the exception of .... see below! <3 <3

Went to my 2nd fave local(ish) place today ... glad I did. Went 3 weeks ago, and couldn't find many, but just 21 days later and they were there in all their glory like last year and all the previous years I've been going. They were growing mainly under really old birch trees in an ancient forest/protected heathland. There were 100's of them. Fucking beautiful.

I have tons of pics of a whole bunch of different fungi I've seen recently, mainly from this place. I'll try to post more tonight if I don't fall asleep after eating my pizza.

But just quickly, here's my faves from today .. Amanita muscaria (Fly Agaric) ... Some of them were fucking HUGE! And they were in all their different stages and sizes of growth. I don't eat these btw, and only picked 1. I value my liver and kidney too much to risk it, so I generally stick to liberty caps when I pick.
