Thanks for your positivity & support Sam & YPH, kindred spirits that share my vision :) I doubt very much I'll get it and like you said Sam, getting it and affording to do it up are 2 different things. If I was flukey enough to get it I figured worst case scenario I'd sort the roof out, make it water tight and then piss in a bucket & cook on a camping stove for the next 2 years and hope prices go up. All guests welcome :D

Shut it creep. You're making me cringe again.

wtf? 8o :|

No work for you today Yella or are you a member of the dole scum crew like myself?

I've got to pick an armoire up from Richmond. ( Richmond folk dont have wardrobes they have armoires.. v popular at the moment).. then i'm down in the shop at 2 for a couple of hours. Just got to finish this pondering off.

It sounds doable Baw.. If you're a hardy type of lass.

Don't touch a listed place with a barge pole.

o u lol

I am YPH, lived far far worse places thats for sure! I thought of you the other day, i got an amazing small oak carved wardrobe for £50 off ebay - weird to think people buy crap from ikea for three times the price. I've got about 4 or 5 cool bits of old & quality bargain furniture but like you said storing them's the problem.

In Spain I got bitten by red ants on my arms, somehow they're all directly above my veins on the crook of my arm and wrist and last night I got accused of injecting drugs. It's horrible protesting your innocence when you really are innocent.

Has anyone heard from Cherry recently?

This is Bluelight, remember? Be careful what you say, even in jest. You don't want Spadey pitching up at your door once his mother's saintly patience finally wears out.

You seem to know what you're doing, so let your conscience be your guide. And all that.

He has a point. There's a beautiful, eccentric little place I can see right now if I crane my neck a bit. It was last occupied three years ago and is becoming more derelict by the week as the purchaser has realised there is fuck all he can do with it. It's a terrible shame but I know from speaking to someone involved with the property that the buyer thought it would be ok and that he'd be able to find a way to modernise it to the point where it's inhabitable, but that that is going to cost far more than the property itself.

I cant resist arts and crafts era furniture... I found my daughter flicking through an Ikea catelogue the other day :( I dont know what I'm going to do with her.. she also nearly gave my dad a stroke the other day by saying that she might like to join the police force. :|

I've been lusting after this ^ little darlin'.. arts and crafts stuff is also generally cheap as chips peculiarly.

*****

I've been wondering about Cherry myself.

I've considered all this Jan, but you make some good points. It has residential use which is a bonus, and its so small there's kind of a limit to how much the renovation work would cost, especially if i do as much as I can myself. The stone works all in good nick, all it needs is repointing. It was let up till 4 years ago. I couldn't afford to extend it myself but would probably put in for planning and then sell it on with permission if I got it. But all this is only viable if I can get it cheap enough, I'm hoping all these things against it will put off any potential developers or people that want to potentially live in it. I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I could sit tight as is for a few years, its in a nice enough town with rumours of a rail link on the horizon.

With any luck she's getting on with escaping the place she was in. Hope so, because it was all very sad to watch, even from this distance.

You speak sense, I'm sure. Though ultimately I'm sentimental to the point of foolishness. To such an extent, in fact, that I keep wondering whether people view romantic / interpersonal relationships in this kind of fashion, and realise they increasingly kind of do. whether that's an intrinsic part of adult life or more doom-mongering on my part I'm not sure.

But yeah, probably best to make sure you're not buying into ruin, financial or otherwise.

Morning Cornish, hope all's well, friggin freezing here, oh yes.

I think that part of the problem in taking on a listed building is that as part of planning you end up having to pay a fortune to consultants who have to make site visits, draft reports and generally walk around clucking and puffing themselves up. This is based solely on my experience with one such consultant, who is a massive twat, so it might be possible to avoid this particular pitfall.

Being white and Scottish I'd never actually experienced first hand racism....until I went to Australia and on more than one occasion was to told to "fuck off back to Scotland" or referred to as a "fucking foreigner" by some drunken bogan cunt.

It would be headbutts at dawn if some wee fucking Home & Away reject tried to hit me with that patter.

That shit with folk in the shop giving it "Apu" etc is fucking shocking an all. Horrible cunts.

anyone watched "the afro samurai"?

Yes. It's really good.

Has anyone heard from Cherry recently?

Not seen any sign of her round here :(

Problem being the Aussie guys seem to all be a bunch of roided up bellends! Despite that I still want to go to Aus. In a cracking mood actually just booked a heavy sesh in the arches mid december, Hardwell is going to be immense! One of our good pals has moved down to Glastonbury too so looking at a mad new year in Bristol or Brighton by the sounds of things :)

Yeah: all that overwrought-yet-ultimately-unconvincing laddishness and exaggerated machismo.

Not your thing at all really...

Can't believe how cheap furniture is on ebay.

This mahogany desk is only on £6.50.
Need to start watching these things and perhaps invest in a van.
