When did you first discover the internet and what did you use it for?

I remember when I first discovered BL. I thought EADD was shite and only went in Ecto discussion.
 
I used to read ED a lot, and just sort of stumbled upon this forum. I just wanted know 'tricks' to make me 'roll' harder. ;)

I forgot about music. I got thousands of songs, on dial-up, and some from mates and CD rips. Half an hour for one song was torturous, especially if it turned out to be shit, or not what it was supposed to be. That was the worst. I love the internet, I truly do. It still amazes me.

Limewire was the reason I spent half my time deleting questionable porn rather than getting to watch any I'd actually wanted.

First got the internet around...1997, I'd say. We'd had a computer for years before that because Dad is a big geek but that's the first time I remember us having the internet. We'd only get like half an hour a day, me and my sister, so we'd look up the sites we wanted to go to, I'd usually find mine in a magazine called Computer Life that Dad used to get. Also did this weird Pokemon chat battling thing which created a worrying amount of drama for something like that. So yeah uh, that was all good. I really miss the dial up tone.
 
Did you notice any weird dynamics in that group? I thought the c64 man fancied the shit out of one of the boys in the second clip and that the boy was dimly aware of that fact.
 
Netscape Navigator was your browser, most likely... it was either that or Internet Explorer for 99% of people back in the day. Welcome back by the way, hope you're good.
 
Yeah, that's right. It came with Windows 95. We used to call it Nutscrape.
 
Building shitty websites and games/music. Funny how they are now trying to censor when people write their opinion on the internet when originally it was one of the great things about it.

Wow thats wierd, I was about to post the exact same thing =D First started playing age of empires on 56k, getting disconnected everytime some cunt rang the house phone, then used it for downloading songs etc napster, limewire. Now use it for almost everything, mostly for browsing hundreds of shit websites reading news and browsing random forums for no reason?

I still play it online now and then, if anyone fancys having a game... voobly.com took over after microsoft stopped funding it.

Very first started using it in primary school, theyd just got a load of computers and we spent hours on google every week
 
Ag yeah Age of Empires. EPIC game. Mad that people still play it. Do you need to have the disk or it download to play?

On the new site you can just play with a downloaded copy they say you dont need a disc, theres a new patch out that allows it, yeah is a cracking game good to play with a load of mates

I used to love Starcraft. All the different characters in your squadron, with their own stats of kills and hits. I used to be very protective of those in my squad with the highest kills. Tried playing it online a few times, I'm convinced everyone else was using cheats, as they'd always build huge squads incredibly fast and find my base and know its weak spots and pulverise it to fuck, impossibly quickly....Anyone else played that ?

Thats right Netscape Navigator was a browser, forgot that. I remember it being slow as fuck, but that was the connection speed I guess
External Modems were the first ones I had
