I remember watching that years ago and thinking it was dreadful. I'm about to watch District 9, I recorded it off the tele the other night and it's decent enough.

Almost done dwldin it. I'd never heard of it till today and while I know it's going to be really fucking dark, I bet it's a brilliant piece of cinema.

I'm watching Mary & Max on Film4 at present - It's such a funny, beautiful and insightful film. Highly recommended.

To me it came across as extremely 'real'. Just brutal and honest. Like I said a while back, i'm glad I watched it. It was an experience, and probably one of the most horrifying things i've ever seen because it's so realistic.

I watched a film called "Elite Squad - The Enemy Within", which was a look at the political situation in Brazil. Like a mini-Wire set in Rio.

I will definitely watch that film Mary and Max tomorrow.

"Elite Squad - The Enemy Within" sounds like the title of the worst US army tough-man flick =D But ace, I'll certainly have to watch that :)
Enjoy Mary & Max! Honestly, when you first start watching it, then when you've watched it in it's entirety, it's amazing how it turns out.
Very emotional film without projecting anything at you. And it's based on a real incident that happened to the writer I think.

Tropa De Elite is a great film. If you liked City of God you'll enjoy this. I just watched an hour of District 9 then it stopped, seems like someone cancelled the recording the other night!

Loved that one. Mate of mine used me library card to get it out (of the library) and we watched it so much we never gave it back. Still owe an insane amount in library fees for never returning it :(

Other film I recall enjoying from around that time was The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension. Trailer here. Fuckin' belter of a film. Not overly related to owt above or below tho... Same bloke that made Slither for those that perked up at mention of the latter in the Gibberings thread a while back.

Last fillum I watched was probably Neds. Thought it decent enough but well-trodden material. Decent enough but hardly a world-beater even amongst its kin.

Got some corkers (in theory at least) lined up and ready to go but not been that arsed with fillums of late. Will enliven your lives with recommendations as and when though.

guys go watch Prometheus in the cinema, I went yesterday and it was bloody awesome! high as fuck+3D=great time

will be doing this in the next week or so hopefully. love seeing stuff on big screen, in an empty cinema when no-one else can be fucked to go. Monday morning, first showing ftw. usually 2 couples + the dream team razzers attending, and that's it, which is painless and magic
 
Watched 'Chronicle' recently and thought it was pretty good, better than I had expected anyway.
A warning about one film to never waste your time watching is 'The Watermen'. Must be worst film I have ever seen, you have been warned.

This is the only time I like the cinema. Fuck watching a film in a room packed with 100 popcorn scranning, annoyingly laughing, coughing, farting dickheads. Cinema when it's empty is the tits though. Last film I think I saw at the cinema was Kill List. Midnight on a Saturday, bottle of Wine, about 3 other cunts in the cinema apart from me & my mate. Quality.

I really want to see Prometheus at the cinema but I fear it'll be pretty packed all the time, particularly the 3D showings.
 
Was gonna go watch prometheus but heard mixed things aboutit, quite a few people have said its a bit of a let down,

still need to see Avengers as well

Marmz, the Guy Ritchie sequel, thought it was pretty good, although after reading what you wrote it sounds like the TV series is much better though so think i'll check it out
 
Marmz watches shite telly. Be warned.

The Avengers is good. I ended up watching a sketchy copy, it was actually not too bad for a telesync to be fair. I couldn't wait any longer to get DVD quality & I could not be fucked with the cinema at all, for the same reasons as stated above - it would be fucking packed out all the time.

Not as cringey as other sasha baron films. Watchable and has some good gags in it. Not exactly heavy going

I quite enjoyed Chronicle too, like the idea of people getting 'super powers' and someone getting carried away with it.

Aye Avengers was not bad and I'm not a fan of superhero or marvel films usually.

The reviews I saw were that it was the worst of his films. Apparently it's the first of his films to be scripted and have a professional acting cast.

I watched this last night, and it was actually really good. I had written it off as one of those films that needs to be advertised on the sides of buses to draw in the crowds, but it is definitely worth a watch. The fights are good, it's funny, and it has a little bit of emotion in it too. I'd probably give it about a 7.5/10. Definitely one to watch high as fuck.
