looking for recommenadtions. i like films that make you think, have a good twist or the need to concentrate. films like The Game (michael douglas), sixth sense, vanillla sky, requiem for a dream, natural born killers (love the way this is filmed), the usual suspects, 12 mon keys, jacobs ladders, fight club, eternal sunshine....

ive see these films but anything like this is welcomed

American Psycho, Donnie Darko, Oldboy, A Clockwork Orange, American Beauty, Memento, Kontrol, anything by a Spanish director called Almodovar. You've probably seen most of these, let me know what you think :)

Qft.

I'd say the name of the film I'm watching but rule one and two don't allow it.

Tyrannosaur, absolutely mind blowing piece of work from the fantastic Paddy Consadine. Very, very dark and sometimes unnerving yet brilliantly written and acted. Probably not one to watch on a particularly bad comedown though.

Hah, definitely not. Oliva Coleman was fantastic though.

Being john malkovich... mindblowing.. amazing, never seen anything like it

Watched this last night. Definitely worth checking out if you liked City of God. It's about as unglamorous as it gets compared to other mafia style movies. A large chunk of it is filmed in real time (no fancy montages or Hollywood style cutting) a bit like a documentary so if you're not used to long moving shots you might find it a bit too slow paced. A lot of people on IMDB moaned about a lack of a cohesive storyline, but I think they kind of missed the point. Real life doesn't really unfold like a typical movie storyline and the people involved wouldn't really feel the need to explain why certain things were going on to each other because they already know why themselves. I reckon the the lack of certain details and unconventional storyline actually makes it more realistic, but that's just me.

Anyway, here's a bit of back info that explains a few things the movie doesn't touch upon.

Scampia feud

^I watched that when BBC4 were doing their Italian mafia/Gommorha season (I think it was BBC4, might have been 2). They were trying to put pressure on the local provinces to do something about the plague of crime in Southern Italy which taints every arena of public life I think. They did a good set of documentaries along side it, where they followed various people who had had their lives ruined by them. It's a really good film, quite like La Haine I would say?

I went to see the Hunger Games the other night. It was a good film, but I think it was slightly ruined by their attempt to make it into a 12 for the teeny audience. I liked how they did everything, I just wish they didn't compromise the storyline.

The director of Gomorrah went into hiding for a while too - since he feared for his life after making the film. It's a great watch.

I saw The Avengers / Avengers Assemble / Marvel's Avengers Assemble, or whatever else it's being called, last night. It was a really fun movie, much better than the Thor & Capitan America movies. Ruffalo was great as Hulk. Wasn't too keen on the 3D though. There were a lot of times it didn't really work & just looked a bit weird & distorted.
