Doxylamine - Effects & Uses -

There is actually a huge demand for diphenhydramine (unisom) gelcaps in the heroin scene, they've actually made the gelcaps prescription now because a lot of junkies, in my experience the more hardcore lifetime junkies, mix it with their dope and shoot it. I've seen it done on quite a few occasions. I new a guy who had been shooting up into his neck and had a huge abcess and swollen hands from too many shots with it. Yuck. It makes me laugh that you can buy diphenhydramine OTC as snuzaid, which is very similar to restavit but yet the gelcaps are prescription only.. All the people I know with prescriptions only have them so they can shoot it, I don't know how a doctor could let this pass honestly. And on the street they are worth about the same as a bar of Xanax which is quite substantial. I find diphenhydramine and doxylamine to be very similar, I prefer diph but I find restavit works well as an opiate potentiator and as a sleep aid, it definitely makes me groggy the next day but I find it's effects quite nice. If I don't have benzos i usually take 75-100mg about an hour or so before going to bed after a speed binge and I enjoy the slightly euphoric messiness it has before it sends me to sleep. Im on suboxone though so it may well be that. For me it's something I always keep in supply, I'd rather have benzos but benzos have their share of problems and I don't like taking any more than I have to for addictions sake so mixing it up with doxy/diph is a good way to get around it. I doubt the OTC brands of strong antihistamines will become prescription only, there's just not enough of abuse potential to really warrant it. They definitely can be abused but it would be by a select few and probably not significant enough for the government to take seriously. Are there any doxy addicts on here?

Hi

Yeah, diphenhydramine in Benadryl™gives me slight feeling of euphoria.
But Diphenhydramine from Unisom or Snuzaid do not.

I don't know why

They aren't prescription only, you can still buy the gel caps here in QLD at least. Maybe in your area it was decided not to sell them without a prescription due to the problems?

gel caps are still OTC in western australia aswell under the brand name dozile....it works great with codeine to stop the itch and to potentiate the effects.

EDIT:sorry i thought we were talking about doxylamine

They aren't prescription, but maybe hospitals in your area have notified the chemists that dumb junkies are shooting them up so now they require a prescription to sell if you look like a junkie. A policy rather than law.

Dumb junkies got the temazepam gel caps scheduled8 in Australia and banned in the UK. They just seem to love to shoot anything that is liquidy, and can be heated and sucked up in a needle with no regard as to whether they are even water soluble at blood temperature. They aren't, and junkies use limbs because of it.

I use Restavit only when i really need it, normally after being on a pip sesh. Knocks me out within 20-30 minutes even after being wired as. I've only ever taken 2 at a time at the most, but normally 1 is plenty. Feel a little groggy the next day sometimes, but not all the time. I'd rather feel a bit groggy then scattered as from not sleeping.

Wow really? I'm from nz so when a law rolls around its nation wide but I guess it's just state law here. I've talked to many pharmacists about it when I buy snuzaid just to see their take on it, some of them literally have no idea what they are talking about (I had one guy tell me addicts only used it for withdrawals or when they cant score which may be so but not entirely true) and others know exactly what is going on, a few places refuse to stock it now. They're gold on the street in Melbourne, I sometimes have old aquaintances calling me in desperation for them and know of guys who won't take a shot of h unless they have it. Just watching them draw it up is enough to make me never ever consider it for IV, it's thick and looks tough to force out of a small gauge shringe unless you have a fair amount of water in with it.

Slightly off topic but has anyone got a preference when it comes to antihistamines? Mine is diph but I've only tried diph, doxy and promenthazine, I'd like to have tried cyclizine (I think its cyclizine anyway I can remember off the top of my head?) with methadone when I was on it, apparently it goes together well and there is another called hydrazine I think which a few people on here like, I only use them for sleep now really but if I was still using h i might shop around, it's a great way to stop the itches but being a sedative it could land you in trouble..

^ Cyclizine and hydrazine are both prescription only here. I know hydrazine is OTC in the states, a lot of people in OD used to be fans of it.

Ugh... yep i hate restavit, but it is a necessary evil for me sometimes. giving up the green and codeine at the moment, having crazy issues sleeping. due to past benzo addiction, i am skeptical to try get a benzo prescription for the withdrawals. after having extreme trouble sleeping, last nite i was 'forced' to take 5 restavit(125mg doxylamine) and 5 phenergan(125mg promathezine), with very little success. it is crazy how much withdrawals can effect you. i could be pinging like crazy on shards, and taking that much would bring me back down. but taking that much barely even touches the sides when it comes to lack of sleep due to withdrawals!!

it is enough to make me go get a benzo script... i just know how much harder it is to get off them tho!!!

its called a needle fixation i've heard of people somone whacking up water and MSM just to feel the pin prick....being a needle addict would be awful imo

Benzodiazepines have their place, though, and use for WD purposes is definitely an accepted medical use. When I came off a year long codeine addiction, just valium in the right dose (before I had a tolerance/addiction to that) worked great for relieving muscle tension and pain, sleep issues, anxiety, etc...

Of course, if you have had problems with benzodiazepine use then probably not your best bet. :)

yeh man, that is my problem. i know that i simply cannot trust myself with a benzo script, i've failed numerous times already. what starts out as me innocently trying to quit one drug, turns into me fiending for another drug even more than i was for the original drug. i have been prescribed benzos before when i was quitting pot, and oxys. both times it started out fine, but ended horribly. i have learnt my lesson!

it is the lack of sleep that really gets to me and makes me want to give up quitting time and time again. at least i know if i am taking restavit for sleep, that i won't get so easily hooked on it. when i get to a point where i realise i can't sleep without restavit, it is easy for me to stop taking it because i hate the way restavit makes me feel. when i get to a point where i can't sleep without benzos, i start taking more!!

ideally i wouldn't take anything to help me get through withdrawals, but it is the lack of sleep during withdrawals that is always my downfall!

i got refused restavit this morning , discrimination ? didnt know they ever didnt sell people antihistamines -.- i said it was for sleep and the person behind the counter told me to see a doctor or try herbal alternatives ....

Find another Pharmacist if this is the case. I don't think he was discriminating, just suggesting that you try natural alternatives because 1) it could be more profitable for him or 2) it's a genuinely good substitute for whatever reason you told him you are using it for.
Also, some pharmacies can be a real bitch to deal with, sometimes for the better. I remember going to a pharmacist for some Panadeine Extra, and the woman there askedif she could check my shoes to see if my 'back pain' wasn't being caused by them.

lol fucking chemists ... just give us what we want for ffs were gonna get it one way or another ... but yeah im gonna find another chemist , i was planning on getting my restavit today and 2 packets of panefen plus so im probably gonna go back there this arvo hoping that the same people arent working so i can atleast buy my codeine for my 'back pain' :P
also do u think ill definetly get rejected trying to buy panefen plus and restavit at the same time , do they know about the potentation shit ?

I've bought Panadeine and DXM together just fine. Find out which pharmacies are the best for you, too. Luckily the two best Pharmacies I go to are adjacent to my housing area, I'm like a regular there. Heh.
Also, I don't really think most Pharmacists are too aware of the fact that you could be a drug abuser, instead they usually refuse you stuff because they could think you're genuinely becoming addicted to it and so on.
