La ronde ('64)
this is a remake. i did not know that until 30 seconds ago when i google-checked the spelling. i rented it for 60s anna karina. she is featured toward the beginning. it was weird to see her play a sex doll. though fortunately not b-role sex doll; the film follows a string of young women, and is successful in making each one feel like the movie's main character for the 25 consecutive minutes she gets on screen. anna's character is the most innocent (so is her role, as to be expected). and foolish. she's good at that one. her make-up is almost clownish in some shots, but overall she looks great in it.
soon as anna's segment was finished, i was crawling out of my skin. and if you were not obsessed with anna, i think you'd be bored from the get go. the structure is solid. but the relationships are each a generalized typification -- leaving nothing to be strange or interesting.
