Heroin Social: Version 5

Well it wouldnt be the key worker who has the last say.... the DR is normally the one who signs off the prescription, and its their call. So it can be done without you knowing.

Its just terrible practise.

I remember when I first applied to get my methadone script that I had a 3 month wait until I could get it.
Now in my area it only seems to take around a few weeks. When you want help you want it as soon as possible and not months down the line.
Do most places around the country get you sorted out a lot quicker now?

Round my way if you fail to attend a certain number of appointments then you receive a letter stating your prescription is to be reduced ! Dont think they can just drop it without informing you though ?

As for thumbs, well mine are fucked but only through running the gear off the end of the jimmy when i'm on a nod !

The 1st time i got on a script was bout 13years ago and there was a 6 month waiting list. This is east london btw. When i come out of jail, it now only take's bout 2weeks. i did confront my keyworker at the time and he just brushed it off. I dont wanna make a fuss bout it coz he knows i'm still using and has not taken a urine test for a couple years now but he keeps on going on about the goverment are stopping maintaindnce script. Is that true or is he just trying to have me on. Also Do these keyworkers have a target they have to reach.
Good to see you about louie

I haven't had to do a piss test now for ages but I guess its because I do tell my keyworker that I have been using on top of my script.
I see the doctor there once every 3 months and he doesn't usually push me to reduce at all. When I have chosen in the past to reduce my script the doctor always said ok we will just reduce you by 2ml so it shouldn't be noticeable.
Now the last time I saw the doctor a month ago he suddenly wanted to reduce me by 5ml straight away. Luckily I managed to talk him out of it but I have noticed there does seem to be a change in the way we are being treated these days.
Threats to have script reduced to nil for missing one appt even after letting them know in advance I couldn't make the appt and asking for another time or date.
Our branch of Addaction do seem to be coming down harder on folk than they ever have done before.
Do you think this is related to a change in government policy?

In oxford if you have had a script recently you can get a rapid prescription, i think it can take a couple of days and you will be on a meth script. pretty impressive. Bristol was meant to be getting something similar I think.....

it helps if your young as well, your seen as urgent.

i burn my fingers on the gauze, so much so, all my fingers are rough 'n used but not as much as lighter fingers.

I've done several stints in 'treatment'
yeah-i remember a 3-6month wait but most recently(about 2yrs ago),it took only 2 weeks to get my script and I think that is simply because the docs routinely do scripts 2 wks in advance
If you are arrested and see a drug worker in the cells,I think it can be quicker still

As for government policy-YES,they are now saying that there should be NO maintenance scripts-everyone should have a treatment plan that aims for reduction
I mentioned before that my keyworker said that they suggest a user should get approx 1 month of treatmnent for every year they have been using-I doubt this actually happens but being on a script for the rest of your days is not an option anymore(unless some genius decides against current policy)

Don't you find that thinner is better? I find that the thicker it is the less my gear runs but more it burns, I lose loads of gear if I use thick and expensive foil. In fairness my foil smoking skills are not that great!

I think the two worst foils to smoke on are Baco and Scot Foil. Baco is way too thick and gear doesn't seem to go very far on it and Scot Foil is thinner than a Kit kat wrapper, totally useless.

What is everyone doing to their lighters? Take a wee break between lines and you wont destroy the lighter.

In my doctor's surgery one of the partners deals with drug and alcohol problems so within 2 weeks of giving her my positive for meth' and kit piss sample. I've heard that via the drug rehab clinic it can take a lot longer.

Makes me laugh when people moan about getting their meth' cut because they hand in kit positive piss samples. You shouldn't be getting meth' if you are just going to waste it by using the shite kit that's going about on top of it. Some people believe they have a divine right to meth' regardless of weather they are using it properly or not. Up hear if you consistently hand in dirty piss samples you'll be kicked right off it. I know plenty of people who've been kicked off the programme and had to start over again. I can't believe people can actually moan about getting their meth' cut because they use on top of it. If I was the doctor I'd say: Pick one and stick with it. The kit out there really isn't worth losing your meth over.

@trip2themoon I understand what you are saying about using on top of a script and picking one or the other.
In my case I have always told my keyworker about my use on top of my script. They have never told me that I have to stop doing so or I would lose my script. With a script it means that on days where I couldn't score I am still able to go to work and hold down my job, thus still paying my taxes and being a productive member of society.
I pay for my scripts myself. Without a script I would have lost my job and home a long time ago.
So even though I do use on top it allows me to live normally until the day I can totally quit the gear and just get by with my methadone alone.

Script in a day. Bristol is the first city to be running the trial. I've been meaning to go the intakes for the past couple weeks, but they always fill up fast and it's first come first served so i've always been turned away. I'm going tomorrow. The thing is, there is no guarantee that you'll be put in the script a day group, as obviously they need to have two groups to compare efficiency. One that does the standard routine of going the doctor, and the other who actually gets the script in a day. I'd have been on a script by now I was able to get it in a day, it's so fucking hard to get a doctors appointment, and then there is the waiting list to get script!

How's that work, Cherry? One group gets a script. What happens to the other? Are you first tested or interviewed to assess your need? Is someone shaking and vomiting more likely to get a handout than an applicant on the nod or is it purely at random? Can you describe the process or provide a link, sounds interesting?

It's supposed to be you who has the final say, WCote. Your doctor - never, ever your 'keyworker' (such a risible job title) - may only act unilaterally if you're in breach of specific guidelines. Otherwise, the doctor is in breach of his own guidelines and in line for reprimand.

Come on, it's meant to be like seeing your GP, not your parole officer. Remember you're a patient, not a criminal, and don't allow those who fancy the idea to turn Treatment into a probation service.

What a waste! Report with pic of a 500g bag of brown exploding on the road as it is chucked from a car being chased by the OB in Lpool;

http://www.metro.co.uk/news/882583-...-heroin-from-his-mercedes-during-police-chase

And the story in full, these guys had 12kg of UNCUT heroin. Pretty big time family operation, doesnt seem they were too good at covering there bases though. If ur a dealer there's measures you can take to avoid getting nicked, for example dont have multiple flash cars on your driveway and own a house wen ur only form of income is supposedly incapacity benefit!

Sunday Evening
You make a new tooter, open out the old one and claim the "bonus beetle" that has been building steadily up. You've stashed a little bit, somewhere hard to get, just as a bit of insurance, just in case.

Monday Morning
You feel fine. Better than fine. You feel FAN-F***ING-TASTIC. This is the beginning of a brand new week, full of possibilities.

Monday Night
You sleep well.

Tuesday Morning
You don't feel so good today. At least the constipation has gone away. You clean the toilet fastidiously afterwards, only too aware that you could be sticking your head down it anytime soon.

Tuesday Evening
Sick. As. A. Dog.

Tuesday Night
Shivering, body aches. But it's only 48 hours since the last time and besides, if you do want to cash in the insurance policy, you've got to get to where you stashed it, and you're not really sure you're in any state to do that. In the meantime, cough medicine that "may (read: invariably does) cause drowsiness" will just have to suffice. If you're still awake in an hour, then you can admit defeat and break out the stash .....

Wednesday Morning
You wake up at a stupidly early hour (though, annoyingly, still just late enough that if you took anything else to help you sleep, even just a doob, there is a strong possibility that you won't have worn off in time for work) and there seems to be no chance of nodding back off. You turn over again and forget to force yourself not to see the time on the clock -- the alarm is going off in less than half an hour. Then the alarm does go off, and you're woken from the tattered vestige of sleep you must have managed miraculously to grab from somewhere.

Wednesday Lunchtime
The week is half over.

Thursday Morning
A fitful night; but somehow, despite remembering lying awake for much of it, as the clock changed, seeming to get slower and slower, you wake up feeling good. Fragments of dream drift away and dissipate into thin air, lost against the light. Monday was obviously a false alarm -- hell, you were still stoned from Sunday if the ugly truth be told. Surely this is the real thing now.

Thursday Evening
It's stashed safely away. The question is, do you go and get it, or do you carry on being good? Because surely, good behaviour calls for a little reward now and then ..... all work and no play makes Julie a miserable girl ..... So tempting .....

charlie clean, i said it could only be your GP, as they sign the prescription off, the drugsworker officially can only make suggestion.

IM sure the one day script thing will be really busy ESP at the moment with gear going down hill again. :\

I hope you get sorted asap.

In short, you turn up to the drop in meeting, meet with a drugs worker, have a chat about your using. Once they have enough people there in the meeting, it is actually names in a hat to decide who goes into the script in a day group and who does the normal doctor way. Then they take it from there. You are paid 15 quid for completing the first stage, and i think they pay you for turning up and giving feedback through out the trial. It's a methadone detox, not subutex. It's obviously a bit more detailed than that, but having not been through it yet and also not wanting to type copy the leaflet I have in front of me (lazy) I can't give much more detail.

I WISH it was as easy as that reads. That reads like the easiest cluck ever.

That is an easy cluck indeed! I sometime get that from only doing gear for 3-4 day binge.... :\

One thing is for sure, Bristol's drug services are probably the best in the UK.

Yet despite its blatant depreciation in quality, that old familiar hold is still as firm as ever.

Yep this is what really worries me! I feel the same way too, after a year of drought & only low grade gear available i'm still yearning for heroin!!!! I always thought that if i could go this long without getting proper stoned that i would get over the cravings! But no such luck, i'm still as desperate to score to-day as i was this day last year!!! :! Ah, i give up! Well at least i wish i could give up!!!

The H threads are really speeding up again, its a bad sign! Remember this time last year this thread was moving at such a fast rate that it was impossible to keep up with! Although it is nice to see people coming back on Bluelight again, one big un~stoned family!!! :)

Yeh, it is getting more challenging to moderate too, still, it's good to see people active on here though.

As for you still wanting to score and take quality heroin, my theory behind this is because the break from h has been something forced upon you. If it was a decision that you had have come to yourself the I reckon that the mental side of things would be easier too.

I quit because I got forced to when parents caught me tooting. I started taking again not long after getting clean, we're talking a few months after. When I decided to quit, which was about 2 months after starting again it was easier to stop. I am able to use now and again and stop myself getting into trouble with it again.

That's just my story and thoughts about the thought process.
