I got the DVD as a Christmas gift back in like 2001, I think. My room mates and I watched it at least once a day for a month. We can probably still recite the whole thing from memory if you get us enough Caucasians and joints.
Its actually got me interested in doing the Lebowski challenge: a drink for every drink he has, and a spliff for every one he has (roofie laced cocktail optional).
If you really want a drinking game/challenge for this movie, drink every time they drop the F bomb. It something like 200+ times. We tried it one night, and were hammered after 30 minutes and had to stop because we couldn't keep up. That's another reason why it is pointless to watch it on an sort of regular cable station that doesn't allow profanity.
Absolutely love this movie. Jeff Bridges absolutely nails his role, but the rest of the cast is terrific as well. Per usual with the Coens, the dialogue is what makes the movie great. I could quote it for days.
Hey, careful, man, there's a beverage here!
And, you know, he's got emotional problems, man.
You mean... beyond pacifism?
Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
You don't go out looking for a job dressed like that? On a weekday?
Is this a... what day is this?
Uli doesn't care about anything. He's a Nihilist.
Ah, that must be exhausting.
