Ive only seen it once and thought it was pretty good. My bro loves it.
"the dude abides"
..damn i wish we could have signatures..Goddamnit!! So many great quotes in the movie

(just watched)

Hmmmmm.......It was okay I suppose, but I'm definitely not getting what y'all are. I'm more than man enough to admit when I'm wrong, but I doubt this will ever be watched again. Sorry, but the Coens have done SO much better than this one.

Yeah well, you know, that's just like your opinion, man....

Classic movie is classic.

-It's like Lenin said...

"I am the Walrus"

I got the DVD as a Christmas gift back in like 2001, I think. My room mates and I watched it at least once a day for a month. We can probably still recite the whole thing from memory if you get us enough Caucasians and joints.

Its actually got me interested in doing the Lebowski challenge: a drink for every drink he has, and a spliff for every one he has (roofie laced cocktail optional).

If you really want a drinking game/challenge for this movie, drink every time they drop the F bomb. It something like 200+ times. We tried it one night, and were hammered after 30 minutes and had to stop because we couldn't keep up. That's another reason why it is pointless to watch it on an sort of regular cable station that doesn't allow profanity.

Absolutely love this movie. Jeff Bridges absolutely nails his role, but the rest of the cast is terrific as well. Per usual with the Coens, the dialogue is what makes the movie great. I could quote it for days.

Hey, careful, man, there's a beverage here!

And, you know, he's got emotional problems, man.
You mean... beyond pacifism?

Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

You don't go out looking for a job dressed like that? On a weekday?
Is this a... what day is this?

Uli doesn't care about anything. He's a Nihilist.
Ah, that must be exhausting.

Woah, way to go drudging up the past! That original post was made over 4 years ago.

As I said I am more than man enough to admit I am wrong. I've watched this a few times since then & have warmed to it a great deal. Not directed at anyone in particular, but maybe I just hate when people tell me I should enjoy something.

It will take time, but I'll decide :D

In a great comedy movie, there will always be that one scene where I am actually crying with laughter. In the Big Lebowski, that scene is where they empty the ashes.

^ You know, that scene is a lift from Life Stinks, by Mel Brooks. And yet... it's way better. Probably because Mel Brooks isn't in it being Mel Brooks.

And as far as Cletus being heckled four years later for that post... fair game IMO. Comments like that will attract a stoner fatwa.

:D

cut him some slack yo. our beloved little cletus has always been a tad slow ;)

You gotta see it way more than one time, L2R good buddy!

gotta say, fingerpoo was right.
