i think it'd have something to do with promoting the product, and the different target audiences.
i'd say teenagers would buy the most cds; crappy commercial music. award the crappy music, more cds will be sold.
who sees the most movies? older people, 20-40 yr olds i'd say. award the movies they like, they'll go to see more.
