I got Keoiki a sack when he played at a local club earlier this year. He didn't even smoke me up. Greedy bastard! Oh yeah. The movie. A self-concious movie only made to be a cult hit for the gay community. Damn you Keoiki! Damn you to hell!

I didn't think it was horrible, in fact I thought it was pretty good. Manson was hilarious :)

It is a shame that the book is out of print and so expensive. I read the first few pages online and I REALLY want to read the book but :\ I seem to have no money.

/pokes a 4 day old chinese.

manson was AMAZING. best role ever with no real lines (in discernable english) and lots of drugged-out stumbling. i can't take this movie seriously enough to hate. i just enjoyed the festival of gaylords.

I dont know....

I've never read the book, and never seen the documentary, so bear with me. I thought the movie was good, but Mac's acting was just SO annoying!!

I can't say that I hated it. I definately didn't think it was fabulous either. But I do think its worth watching--good plot and the fact that its all real is good enough reason to see it.

The parts that I liked the best were the fucked up heroin scenes. Like at the end when the rat tells the "real story" and when Seth Green hallucinates about writing the whole book--- I laughed my ass off!! That kind of shit has happened to me so many times.

What I didnt like was-oh who said it, Dtergent? that said Mac kept laughing like dr evil? lol yeah and its almost like he had a wannabe british accent the way he ended his sentences like a question-maybe the real guy talks like that but it didnt sound gay to me, it sounded--ugh fucking annoying!!!

Dude... British people don't talk like that. That's what British people take the piss out of Americans'/Australians' accents for, always ending on a high note as though asking a question.

the film is fantastic.
:)
i absolutely LOVED it. ^_^
When i first saw it, i watched it religiously for 3 months. the acting is great, the script is great, and it's progression through the fast-paced mind of michael alig was brilliant.

also..:
gay men; colorful scenes; great music [highly recomend the soundtrack]; drugs; murder; betrayal; et cetera.. who wouldn't love this movie?

you say you read the book? where did you get it? I checked my local borders, and a few other bookstores, but it seems that no one has it. *tear*

I thought this movie was good but I just didn't really enjoy watching it. :\

where have i been?? fuck i JUST found out this movie existed! must buy must buy!
saw a documentary on the whole thing, awesome shit

Talk Show Host: Is it true your son Michael turned you on to the pill ecstacy?
Elke: He told me it was a headache pill.
Talk Show Host: And what happened when you took it?
Elke: Well, my headache went away.

=D

Loved this movie i heard of it a looooong time before it came out on dvd i waited for ever for it and it was worth it. Awsome soundtrack also its my dance around the house when nobodys home album.

Saw some show on A&E today called American Justice that showed Michael ALig's story

Words cannot properly describe how much I despise this movie. Starting off with the horrible cinematography, the poor direction, and the piss-poor performance from that Home Alone kid. He had to convey a sort of charm that would make you understand why so many people went with him on his journey into the club scene, and he just didn't have the acting chops to pull it off.

^^^^I dunno....personally, I think he did a really good send-up of the self-absorbed queen that exists so much in the gay scene; the kind of person that is a self-absorbed vulture, but for some reason everyone flocks to.

I kind of look at this movie as being in the same vein as Spun...it's not a realistic representation of anyone, it just paints very broad dramatised strokes of archetypes we're all familiar with...

In some ways, I think pulling that off can be more difficult than trying to create well-rounded three-dimensional characters....

(all just my opinion obviously)

film: party monster

can be viewed here.

synopsis (wiki): Party Monster begins with Michael Alig (Macaulay Culkin) as a small-town outcast who before moving to New York lived with his mom, brother and stepfather, learns the New York party scene from St. James (Seth Green) and Gatien (Dylan McDermott), and soon becomes the hottest party promoter in New York. However, after Michael descends into the world of drug abuse, his life starts to spiral out of control, eventually culminating in his involvement in the murder of Angel Melendez.

i personally LOVED this film, although have heard varied responses from others. it seems like one of those types you either love or hate. the casting was fabulous imho and was a perfect depiction of alig's high time (which is semi relevant to the now as he's being released in september of this year).

what did you think?

edit: supertrav you are right. thanks for that. :D

I believe the movie is in fact called "Party Monster". Not "Monster Party". I found it very amusing. Seth Green was awesome in it. Macauley, not so much.
If you liked this, you should also see the "Party Monster - The Shockumentary" DVD which has commentary from James St. James which is worth the price of admission alone
