I loved Party Monster and the soundtrack was terrific also. The first time I saw it I was abit iffy about the acting, but it definitely grew on me & now I can't imagine it being done any other way. Anyone read Disco BLoodbath yet?
I thought Macauley caught the essence of Aligs vulnerability & attraction, but drew more comparisons to Richie Rich than anyone. The rest of the cast were excellent, especially Marilyn Manson as Christina

You don't know your skrink, from your scrod. You stupid logger blogger!!

I read James St James' book on the whole Melendez murder and was thoroughly impressed. I picked up this film after hearing about it like 2-3 years after it was released. I liked it

Wasn't really liking this movie first time I saw it,

Saw it again recently and changed my mind. Once I got past Culkin's annoying accent I was able to see everyone else's performance shine, and really get lost in the story

RATS ON CRACK ATTACK!'

enough said!

Its pretty sad how addicting it can be in regards to relating to total rave culture!

such a blast though

Sorry guys.

But I will never feel anything but disdain for a bunch of drug addled self absorbed sociopaths.

How anyone can enjoy this is beyond me.

I did however enjoy the documentary from a historical perspective.

I still give this one 0 stars.

Dtergent, if you haven't gotten rid of your DVD yet, give it to me.
I've been wanting to watch this one for AGES. :D

^NM, Just watched it now...my brother DL it on my pc. lol.

One word... Fahhhbulous ;) I fuckin LOVED it. And not once did I even find Macauley annoying...his performance seemed flamboyantly accurate. This is definitely one of those "totally loved it" or "completely hated" it type of movies. Superficial and self-delusional yes..but a cautionary tale that was very entertaining to say the least..

Seth Green was HILARIOUS. And the music is just bangin'...must get the soundtrack. Next in line: The documentary and maybe, just maybe I can get my grubby hands on Disco Bloodbath..

I cook! I clean! I take care of your mother!"

PS. Chloe Sevigny = uber hotness

^^^^I dunno....personally, I think he did a really good send-up of the self-absorbed queen that exists so much in the gay scene; the kind of person that is a self-absorbed vulture, but for some reason everyone flocks to.

I kind of look at this movie as being in the same vein as Spun...it's not a realistic representation of anyone, it just paints very broad dramatised strokes of archetypes we're all familiar with...

In some ways, I think pulling that off can be more difficult than trying to create well-rounded three-dimensional characters....

(all just my opinion obviously)

:)

Totally agree with you Raz :D

I'm sorry. I'm straight, but I love the gay life. I'd rather go to a gay bar than some redneck shit-starter bar or skanky nightclub anytime. That being said, I can't stand this movie. I hate the over-the-top "Oh, darling! That is so fab!" dialogue and acting. I love Seth Green, but he made me want to carve the word fabulous into his forehead.

^lol :D Straight guys who love the gay life and are completely unself-conscious = HOT

^seconded! :)

love this movie. i love macaulay. i've watched this movie several times.

^I love that scene where they're singing that Felix d housecat song....I thought Mac was so androgynously sexy there ;) love the kiss with chloe!

Haha... a good pal (Stillbeing on Bluelight!) sent me pictures of Angel...he used to be roommates with Angel's ex bf...according to him, Angel was a really cool dude who just happened to mess with the wrong crowd..
Hey...he's pretty cute ;)

thanks for posting, mariacallas, you opera diva doll you, and yeah Angel was one of those people when you hang with them you feel your are with a special person who is destined to have a well-deserved long and fun life. When i first knew him, he was giving me piles of magazines left on board jetplanes cuz his job before dealing X was cleaning the inside of airplanes between their flights, so he had ballpoint pen numbers written all over the backs of his hands, and i had the same, but for no good reason on my part. his numbers were i think the flight numbers. after i got to know him better, we went for a trip to the gay and lesbian hangouts and centers in chelsea nY and one of the pics i shot of him was in the mens room with the famous keith haring mural one of keith's coolest paintings IMO. i met keith before this actually and he was awsome. back then new york was really a cool place . now it rests entirely on its thread-bare laurels. anyway i fell out of touch with angel when my friend broke up with him. i did see him again tho , he was standing on these whacky ten inch , yes ten, heals which were i think clear plastic or some trashy punky thing like that and he was high on what i dunno and he and i gave each other a sadly unwarm nod hello and skipped actually speaking, i wasnt sure it was angel at first, cuz he was in a lotta whacky garb and he saw i was with a kinda conservative chick and i was prolly dressed for work too, pretty square.but for the record he could be such a sweetheart, sometimes, that when he was killed like that a lotta people hadda cry, he was on the cover of the Village Voice, which was back then a still somewhat cool newspaper, so all kinds of isolated artsy people found out that way>
and the movie i wasnt in love with on first view but on second view it pretty much rocked me in every way. i dont even have a criticism of it.

dope keith haring art in that 2nd nsfw pic.

i watched the documentary and flick like last week when i was sick to pass the time. good times.
