film: party monster

anybody seen previews for this movie?? i read the book and it was very strangely written...i guess the killer who is played by maculy culkin dated keoki back in the day...anyway, it looks like it's worth checking out...fez from that 70s show, seth green, and the guy from my so called life r also in the movie...

i've seen the previews.. i remember the "club kids" when they paraded themselves on Maury and Geraldo and other talk shows. I'd like to see it

I saw the documentary of the same name that was on Showtime or HBO about five years ago. If Macauly Caulkin can pull off playing Michael Alig the movie will be worth watching just for that.

The documentary was on last night, man they did some fucked up stuff. They should have cast Graham Norton as Michael Alig that would have been funny :)

Any idea when it's "coming out"? badum tsssh

It's been making the film fest rounds, but theatrically I don't know . . .

i saw the documentary about that whole thing, so i'd love to see what the movie is like. i've also been to the limelight a few times, so it'll be interesting to see a movie about things that occured somewhere i've been.

macauly culkin creeps me out. i'm not sure if i'll be able to watch him for an extended period of time, but whatever. marilyn manson's also in it.

this movie's not out yet though, right? when is it coming out?

its been released in the theatres.. not wide though, maybe only ny and la... it won awards at a few film festivals etc.. Id look for it at your independent theaters etc....

Im interested to check it out.... I will see it when it comes to here, but i figured there would be a screener floating around the net somewhere since it has been featured at so many festivals, but i guess ill just have to wait..

i've been corresponding to alig at his prison on and off for 2 years. he's clever...
ive also talked to his mom when she wrote his pen-pals about address changes.

I liked it. It was disturbing and brought back a lot of memories of a life I left behind. Having lived through it, the movie filled in a lot of blanks. I never really followed the stories in the news - and I didn't see the maury(?) interview. Although the story being told from J St. J's perspective it is very melodramatic, and probably a bit skewed from reality. A good movie if you were into it. I took a friend of mine who had never heard of Alig, or the club kids - and was not into the scene back then - he thought it was stupid and couldn't understand why I would drive so far to see a movie.

I thought seth greene was awesome, macauly was just like he always is except bigger. I was surprised to see Fez as Keoki, and I always wondered where the 'superstar' came from. I remember thinking how can this guy be a superstar if I have never heard of him? I guess he is now.

Excellent movie.
Great characters. I saw more put into these characters and a better performance from every actor in it than I ever thought they could do. Even Marilyn Manson shocked me by his wonderful performance.
I laughed, and I felt for them all at the same time.
The costumes were fabulous.
It was just an over all, well done movie.
Defintely purchasing it for my collection.
I really want to check out the documentary now as well.

Funny Gossip about the Set of the Film:

Home Alone star Macauly Caulkin had to teach Marilyn Manson how to smoke a cigarette.

Manson plays a transvestite stripper in an upcoming movie Party Monster.

Yes, the Home Alone kid was a bad influence on the self-proclaimed Anti-Christ.

just came out on video/dvd....had to wait and get it at hollywood
cause the small ass town I live in would never show a movie like that.

I really liked it, though if I had never read the book I would have been lost.
so my advice is to read Disco Bloodbath by James St. James, then watch the movie.

I wouldn't discourage people from watching it if they have never read the book. I'm sure it's that much better if you did read it; but I did not, and I wasn't lost; not even for a minute. The movie was, well to put it in the words of James St. James: "Fabulous!"
Even without reading the book!
=D

Is James St.James really the character in the movie as well. How can a man who did that much drugs able to write a book? Was he just a character hollywood made up to make the film more entertaining?

^ i know that.... but was he really Michael Alig 's real life friend. Or just some dude who research and interview him etc. Then cuz hollywood loves to make movies more exiciting... was cast as a character in the movie.
Basically... was Seth Green's character real?
