The EADD Poppy Pods & Seeds Thread v1 - Watch Out For the Mould!!!

i don't know, i can't really tell from that pic.

only towards the end of my poppy consuming i started rinsing the outsides.

the only ones i wouldn't use were those where the inside was fucked, like all the seeds were fucked. you'd know if it you saw it. and if the walls weren't normal, i.e. had degraded.

yeah ive seen those ones with the 'fucked insides' and know what you mean. They smell bad too, and get binned immediately. I have no trouble telling good from bad with those ones. lol.

Cheers, think I'll need to throw out the year old pods. Anyone in the UK noticed that one of the main pod vendors only sells Gigs now? (since the past year) Previously he was selling Hen n Chicks as well as Dutch Maxi. Anyone heard if this was a supply issue that might be resolved? I can't seem to get a old of the vendor.

I know of the source you speak of, and it's a total rip off. Find yourself another vendor, he's like 4x the price of my old place. That's all I can say on that w/o breaking rules.

Ive just seen these images online, and was wondering, for academic interest, if someone in the know please confirm if the blackness on the outside surface is bad mould or good alkaloids ? Thank you....

http://s1175.photobucket.com/albums/r632/Dermot_Molloy/

They look fantastic, the black on the outside is just dried latex. You'll know a mouldy one when you see it, the inside is packed with a dark brown material, almost like fragile horsehair or pubic hair (lol) and smells very musty. That said when I used to do pods (clean for over a year) I just scooped the crap out and used the pod anyway, with no ill effects, just a slightly nastier tasting tea. Not recommended BTW, I probably just got lucky

I threw out a couple of pods the other day because they seemed mouldy. The markings on the surface don't bother me so much as any hair/wisp-like stuff inside. Or when the seeds are clumping together inside, sticking to the inner surface.

Don't know whether this is rational or not though, I might be throwing away the more potent ones :( I have occasionally used suspect pods and suffered no ill effects. But fuck knows where these come from. Does anyone know? I'm not sourcing, just wondering if they're imported or grown locally (UK/Europe). I do sometimes worry that the pods may harbour dodgy shit. If they come from Afghanistan or something, then they're probably just as likely to be contaminated with anthrax as heroin is :| which is to say, not very likely, but more likely than if they were grown in Europe, I'd have thought.

The ones I get come from a farm in the midlands apparently. Only papaver somniferum regular or giganteum though. No "hens n chicks" or "persians" or whatever other varieties there are.

What's everyone paying for 'em?

~£40/500g

vendor website says the black spots are latex, make of that what you will.

How many pods would you use per brew at that price?
Interested to see how they compare to the ones I get.

I started off with 2, now I'm on four and reckon I would enjoy five or six more now :| I better watch.

Yeah, by most accounts withdrawals off 'em don't sound too pleasant.

I've found my tolerance just doesn't seem to drop at all with them.
Even after long breaks if I started back with a dose I used to enjoy it won't do much.

Maybe because I've just got used to it hitting harder?

I try to keep to once a week at most, sometimes I break that rule, but not often. But my tolerance still seems to have gone up. Daily kratom probably isn't helping, even at a moderate (5-8g) once-a-day dose. Must be a cross-tolerance, kratom definitely seems to hit the same receptors. Makes me itchy anyway, if I take enough!

Still, I can go for days without and I suffer no serious withdrawals, I must be doing something right.

Last few years i allways make my own few g of opium, but this year didnt plant much,so a few weeks ago i order first time.I found only one place, that ships across EU,0.5 kg for 43eur,and almost all of pods looks similar as mydrugbuddy shows it,only instead black color it is more green-ish and few pods have mold inside. One said that this is latex, but i have never seen pods like this before, from my own grow!!When pods dry, they were allways light brown color,no black-green spots, nothing. There are many kind of mold, some no,some more, and some very toxic, usually green one being verry toxic. But i try to puverize them,40 to 50g and make tea,and is decent high, aldo i expect to be 20 to 30 enough, based on internet sources.I suspect, that vendors-seller are soakind them in water, for some personal alcaloid fun,and re-drying them, then sell them to us.That would explain weak potency and black-green mould, becouse soaked pods would have more chances to mould. But this is just a theory.I think that A-B extraction would be safest option, but i think that plain acid-base extraction wouldnt work with morphine. And sorry for typpo,my keyboard is damaged, have to repair it.

So the post office and other couriers have now resumed dropping off parcels with neighbours. If anyone was to get a parcel of pods (which they use for craft arranging/decorative purposes) dropped off with a neighbour that neighbour might be intrigued/nosy as to what the parcel contains due to the rattling seeds inside. One would not wish to be rude to neighbour and say 'mind your own business' so one could just say 'they are dried plant pods which I use for decorations' but then the neighbour might want to know more/see them....

My imagination is failing me to come up with another answer, just incase they get asked, can anyone else with better imaginations come up with an answer that would put any curiosity to rest ?

In the past I've had a word with my postman, told him not to drop anything at my neighbours' place. When the guy got transferred, I just put a handwritten sign on my mailbox telling the new postman to chuck the parcel over the gate, I used to love coming back home from work finding huge bags of kratom waiting for me in the garden.

Last two times I've had pod tea (a couple of weeks back and five minutes ago) I've filtered the stuff through coffee filters. It makes it much easier to drink, takes away a lot of the foul taste, yet still gets you all warm and fuzzy.

I seem to need to use four filters, 1. because I used one filter and it broke, so I double them up and 2. because the first pair of filters stops flowing about half-way through my brew.

Poppy Tea Protip.

Much stronger, better, longer lasting, more rounded, more euphoric.

And more likely to end up in bad places if used on the reg.

About equal in terms of disgust. Well, slightly worse.

I've talked myself into it. :|

EDIT: Also, it's a bit of a faff to prepare, and as I'm a lazy bastard that means it's somewhat self-limiting, which is a good thing, but you might not be so lazy.

Shit, was I replying to an imaginary post? This is a comparison to Kratom for someone who'd rather remain anonymous.

Well, maybe I'm speaking to myself, but this cup I've just brewed (that took 90 minutes but that includes washing the dishes and doing the recycling) is black like tar and I think it might kill me. If I'm not here tomorrow you know what's happened.

That's the method I used to use the most, definitely seemed to do the business but was a bit of a pain.

Has anyone tried using a cafetiere?

*edit* man I should really read the previous page of a thread before posting... So you think coffee filters are better than a cafetiere then Knockando? Or are you doing some kind of combo?

Man I know everyone thinks the stuff tastes rough but it is several years since I've had any and I actually quite miss it - bittery goodness, I seem to remember it going well with a dash of honey <3

I brew it up in a cafetiere then I pour it through filters, it improves the taste.

I add a spoonful of sugar too, which makes it almost like juice.

Using a coffee-preparer was the way I first tried it. Just bung in your poppy powder instead of coffee and 5 minutes later you're sorted.

I'm in the middle of reducing some poppy extract down to a "tar". Or is it SWIM that's doing that? No it's me. I'm quite excited, should make the consumption a bit less of a gut wrench :) I took 15 pods, powdered them and made 1.5 litres of tea. Then I filtered it through coffee filters, they get "clogged" quick though so I ended up using about 15 filters. I've had it sitting in the oven at about 70° for about 30 hours now, with the door ajar to allow water vapour to escape. The oven thermostat light is off most of the time so I don't think it's using much power. The evaporation takes a long time but it's looking like it won't be much longer now.

I should end up with something like this:

E6HtTP3.jpg

That's someone else's end result.

I don't think it'll be smokeable because it's just a crude extract and wouldn't be very nice on the lungs but it should be edible. Ideally I'll have a dry product that I can dissolve into a small volume of water for plugging. That picture makes it look quite dry and possibly something that can be powdered with mortar and pestle.

Anyone else done this?
