Zopiclone question

I have been getting 2 zopiclone a week for insomnia, it's a weekly prescription but today I got 7 zopiclone tabs with it saying 1 of 4. I don't get mines monthly because of my drug history. Do you think that they are taking me off them by giving me 28 for a month or will it continue? Can GPs prescribe 7 zopiclone a week along with 30mg of diazepam a day? I'm scared of losing them as I have insomnia. Anyone help please thanks

I would but don't want to rock the boat. But is it normal to get them 7 a week?

Also it says clearly on box take ONE when required. So if I require ONE every night and after the month they stop them I will get insomnia. I'm having issues with my GP nothing major but want me to move to a new practice. I'm on 42 5mg diazepam a week, (psychiatrist) 4 30/500mg cocodomals which with my back pain Im needing 8, mirtazapine 15mg and was getting 2 zopiclone a week after coming off quetiapine still not feeling right after nearly 2 years off it. So 7 zopiclone without being told is a stressful situation. I think they are giving me a one off 28 then stopping them. I want to know if it's going to be regular as in 28 every month but due to GP wanting me to move is making me nervous. I think 7 zopiclone a week is OK esp when I'm physically addicted to valium is OK I don't care about tolerance I've also lost a close friend earlier this year so I don't want another 3 weeks of getting them then boom stopped. I have a curviture of my spine and it's getting worse so I also need 4 extra cocodomals. I'm not a doctor shopper if I get all that then that's all I need

Ah man I was in the same boat. Following the failed attempts at managing my PTSD and insomnia with Ambien and Trazadone, I too was put on Zopiclone. I was given a 7-day supply as well so I really wouldn't worry about it man. Admittedly it did not work as we had hoped so after 72 days I was off of it. If it is working for you I am happy for you man! The weekly dosages are not odd especially if you are within the US. With you being on Diazepam, if you are still given your monthly supply in the form of a single script don't even stress it my man. Being a nonbenzodiazepine hypnotic, it is very unlikely they are taking you off the Zopiclone. I'm here to talk whenever man. I know all too well about the cruel life that is insomnia, albeit brought about by PTSD. The beauty of Zopiclone is if it is working, it likely will work without needing to increase the dosage. I do recommend trying to get one or two days a week with natural sleep but if you are fighting it then don't worry. Some weeks I can have 3 days with 0 Temazepam and some weeks it is all 7 days I require it for rest. Best wishes my friend

What country do you live in? Some countries seem to keep you on them but most will only give you 2-3 weeks. I used to be on them and I'd only get 6 per 14 days because if you take it every night, it's VERY difficult to come off it. You get rebound insomnia that is worse than before you took the med and you get benzo-llike withdrawals, too.
If you're in the U.S they probably won't take you off it.

@FutureReference I have never heard of someone being on both Zopiclone and Ambien (Zolpidem) as they are very similar. It's like being on Clonazepam and Lorazepam or Vicodin and Percocet at the same time.

Sorry I'm not sure if I worded it wrong but I was put on Zopiclone after Ambien and Trazodone failed to manage my insomnia. Never was prescribed them simultaneously. Currently I am on two Benzodiazepines though, Clonazepam for anxiety and PTSD and Temazepam thankfully was the insomnia medication it took years to find. Truly works like a charm and I have no issues when going in excess of a week without it (likely because I still take the Clonazepam daily)

Ahh, I get it. I prefer Zopiclone because I get a nice, warm and content kinda feeling as I drift off. Trazodone works really well for me. It gives me a bit of a body-high, but "high" is the wrong word because it's an unpleasant feeling. Almost like I've taken something slightly toxic.

Amazing. I totally prefer the zopiclone buzz to most benzos too. Always thought I was just weird lol

Careful not to take it too long before bed! I took mine once then stayed up to watch a movie and kept hallucinating mice running from behind the sofa to under the TV and stuff like that hehe. I very nearly announced that I thought we had mice because it was so realistic.

Hehe I just remembered one time I was in my room high and that happened to me but the. I saw it clearly and there was actually a mouse in there. I kept seeing it in the corner of my eye at first.

That flat had almost an inch gap between the bottom of the doors and floor even the front door so he must squeezed in and come under my door :)

Not trying to get people into weird stuff here BUT you ever tried crushing up a 7.5mg & snorting it?
PLEASE for the love of God don't do a full 7.5mg for the first time ever btw, you may be in for quite a shock, take my word for this.

I don’t think I’ve ever tried that because I generally don’t snort things as I have chronic rhinitis causing the lining in my nose to be constantly inflamed so snorting always ends up being highly unpleasant for me ?.

I would but don't want to rock the boat. But is it normal to get them 7 a week?

Usually when a doctor knows the patient has a history of drug abuse but still agrees to rx a cds, they will continually refill short-term prescriptions.

I would expect to continue to receive the same amount each week.

However, if your doctor is a real by the books rules kind of person, that one week supply is likely all that you will be rx’d. The fda does not recommend z-drugs for long term use (longer than a week).

But I’m my experience and that of people I’ve talked to, it is just a measure to Percocet against abuse or distribution of cds and the doctor will continue to write the rx as long as you remain compliant with dosing instructions and take as prescribed (don’t come up dirty if you’re subject to UAs).

Like Quere, I find z drugs to be supremely recreational. Much more so than benzos. Snorting almost produces a rush (without tolerance). It does not make me “trip” like I’ve heard people suggest.

Yeah uk based I was on 2 but now 7? I just don't want them too stop them after the month.

That's good to know holdback Im paranoid about them getting stopped because it says take one when required so what about the 'saving them up part'? I know I might get them but don't want to assume and end up without them as they are better for sleep than diazepam.

Thanks for replies people I know people who get 2 benzos prescribed together diazepam and Temazepam or Nitrazapam so 7 zimmers should be ok?

Edit: also the GP is a police doctor as well but it wasn't him who made the new script. What's my chances zopiclone bandit? Is this them trying to 'mind fuck' me or should I expect a refill NEXT month? I'm on 42 diazepam so wtf is 7 zopiclone going to do to me? Also I've not had a proper talk about this with GP so I'm paranoid. Diazepam isn't any good for sleep but zopiclone puts me into a nice cosy state to fall asleep. Should I take one every night?

I am prescribed Clonazepam for PTSD and Temazepam for insomnia. Truthfully I have heard horror stories of long-term Zopiclone use. I was only on it for 3 months, so I really can't say personally but I have a friend who has been on them for years and says he can no longer sleep without them. With the Temazepam I am able to go days without it sometimes but try to avoid it as it also dims the vivid imagery of resurging nightmares I have. There are definitely people on this post more knowledgable than I, just trying to look out man. But I was given a 7 day supply for the 12 weeks on it so I have a feeling that is just procedure. Oddly enough this has never been the case with any Benzos so I can only assume there is a higher risk that I am unaware of but it is definitely prescribed weekly for people with no drug-abuse history so I wouldn't stress it

What does your doctor feel a about you taking them as and when rather than every night? It's saving them up that worries me if I'm told to take one when required than every night. Also sorry to hear about your PTSD I too think I have that and it's a horrible thing. I'm here if you need to talk I'm going through a bad time. Also I have a long history of alcohol and drug abuse so I'm really paranoid. I'm also trying to get 8 cocodomals only on 4 but have been taking 8 but now it's 2 paracetamol then 2 cocodomals 4 hours later then 2 cocodomal after. Ideally 7 zopiclone and an extra 4 cocodomal would all I'd want buy due to my drug abuse I have been getting knock backs for 4 extra cocodomal. I don't drink or abuse illicit drugs anymore and need these drugs.

I truly appreciate that man. Seeing death in real life changed my perspective on the world but I have spent the last decade regrouping and am in a much better place. I am always here to talk as well brother!

I lucked out with my Psychiatrist and we have full transparency. In the US, although I am prescribed 30 of the Temazepam and 60 of the Clonazepam, both are labeled "take as needed". I am very open with her and she is actually proud of me when I go a few days without them. She was the one who originally informed me that nightly use might make long-term insomnia worse. In the past 6 months I have went from my full 4MG of Clonazepam to 1-3MG a day depending. The past week was 1MG daily!

If you truly are passed the point of wanting to be an "addict" (hate that word, especially in cases where we are getting therapeutic benefits from drugs that we become addicted to), I would not worry about "stockpiling". The PTSD and chronic pain do sometimes make me consider taking my own life but I have never once went back and abused extra meds.

I truly feel for you man and understand your position. I can tell you just want peace and fear it may be taken from you. I am unsure if you are subjected to monthly urinalysis but that alone should show you are not abusing anything and can be trusted. The fact you are given a monthly supply of Diazepam says everything! Just this specific sleeping med seems to have high risks and they tend to avoid monthly scripts even here.

In terms of your chronic pain... man that is my real battle. It seems my mental health deteriorates the worst on days I can't control it. You are prescribed the co-codamol? I just learned from a Moderator that DHC is a form of Codeine and is legally obtainable in the UK. I am not entirely sure how a urinalysis reads it but instead of running out of pain medication early, the DHC might be able to help you with your pain! I am not knowledgeable on Dihydrocodeine and am reading up on it but if Codeine helps your pain it seems that DHC would also help and maybe even moreso! If you use the medications just to treat your pain, anxiety and insomnia and not to seek any euphoria then you will never have to worry about that mental addiction again. Our past demons do not have to come to light in the future brother!

Again, I am here to talk whenever man. I chose to reduce my Benzo intake to cut down on tolerance and it worked tremendously! If possible, try taking slightly less than normal just to reduce tolerance and also so you have the peace of mind knowing you will never be without anything! Please don't hesitate to reach out man. Life hit me hard and I can tell it has done the same to you but I can also tell you are a fighter. Saving a few pills monthly does not mean we are doing so to binge. Again brother we are in control and I have faith in you. I hope somebody else has a bit more knowledge on DHC to determine if it would help you and possibly reduce the need for your co-codamal. You got this man!
