Hi, im new here but having a great time browsing aroud this forum. Just a quick question please, is anyone here from the uk prescribed zolpidem? Theres lots of info from the american side of things but here in the uk or in my area at least it seems non-exsistant. My gp was clueless or at least acted as if she was and just said that zopiclone is completly unique and theres nothing similar. So justwondered it is ever prescribed over here and how it compares to zopiclone? thanks.
 
I know 1 guy on this board who had it. He had his dose & washed it down with some Methadone & went totally nuts.

It is banned in various countrys if I remember right, there are cases in Australia of people throwing themself out of windows & all types of bad stuff. The best I read of was a guy getting into his car & driving for miles & miles.

It does seem rare to get it over here, I think you have to be kind of crazy to get it from a G.P.

Thanks farmez, good link. basically nhs are covering themselves by not prescribing it incase the shit hits the fan legal-wise in america.
 
I was prescribed it earlier this year for sleep.

I told the GP that zopiclone was inneffective, not that I was seeking something else, just a fact..I'd had zopiclone in hospital and found it kept me awake if anything, bizarre, so she prescribed me zolpidem...

I found it to be very very good for getting to sleep. I only had about 10 tablets I think, and just one was enough for me, i didn't take them daily, just as and when needed.

I can eat Zopiclone like sweets with no "benzo" effect at all, I have had that feeling too once from being kept awake on them but only once.
 
I was prescribed zolpidem for sleep too two or three years ago, I was just given them first with no mention of zopiclone. As far as I understand it it's actually something like twice as expensive for the NHS to prescribe as zopiclone which is why the latter is more common. No idea why I got zolpidem instead but it worked like a charm for getting off to sleep (if not keeping me there).
 
So it a bit of a lottery by the sounds of it. I was only interested in trying it as a novelty as I am already prescribed zopiclone and mirtazepine. I think I must react very well to zopiclone because I used to get euphoria from just 7.5mg and I still get muscle relaxation and anxiety relief from the same amount altho I have 45mg of mirtazepine aswell which boosts the effects massively. Cheers for the replies guys, I guess it will have to be resigned to the maybe never pile.:-)

And they keep me awake.

Take enough and you walk sideways, which is amusing for a few minutes then meh.

Never had zolpidem. On IPad spellcheck zolpidem comes out as soldier*. How much more evidence for a conspiracy do you want?

While I get massives effects off a couple but traditional benzos like diazepam and temazepam have little to no effect on me. Infact temazepam was terrible for sleep for me, I woke up twice having an anxiety attack.

Yep, temazepam is equally rubbish for sleep for me too.

Nitrazepam ftw. In that it's the only Benzo on its own that's ever properly knocked me out, when needed, without alcohol.
 
Yeah, I read the alpaca one before. Its a funny and cautionary tale for anyone who takes sleeping tabs. a guy just up the road from me keeps a couple of alpacas, strange what people will keep for Pets.
 
I was on Zolpidem for quite sometime, Zopiclone does nothing for me.

Initially as long as I went to bed shorty after taking it it would get me off to sleep, but this only lasted a couple of weeks before the sleep would only last 3-4 hours max.

The doc wouldn't offer anything else at the time and I was on the maximum dose, can't remember what it was but one of the oval tabs, I did try upping the dose but it didn't help for long. I kept going with it as it gave a little relief from my ongoing insomnia but after falling into snorting the stuff and taking way to many just for kicks I gave them up.

I did suffer horrible insomnia of the type where you get no sleep for 3-4 days but after that I was back to square one.

I see they make a big fuss of the stuff in the states for it's recreational value, can;t see it myself but I don't think Z drugs work well for me and this was before I really started on the benzos in a big way.
 
I had it prescribed to me. Was working well for about two weeks, then i started taking two instead of one. It escaladed to two zolpidem + one zopiclone, two zolpidem + two zopiclone and in the end i was taking two zolpidems, two zopiclones and two 1mg xanax just for sleep, extra xanax daily for anxiety, when needed. I was having terrible nightmares and i tought that i was flopping in the bed like fish because of it. In reality i was so benzoed out that when i woke up, i was exactly in same position as falling sleep.

The nightmares were insane, i was waking up into a dream, things got crazyer and when i thought i had woken up, in reality was into another dream etc, proper Inception shit was going on constantly.

Luckily i managed to taper down and stop benzos completely, and got on quetiapine for sleep. It helped immensly and it still does, i am prescribed 200mg but don`t need that much, usually i take 100mg and lately i have been trying to taper that even further.
