Zolpidem

I am also on 20mg diazepam (I only take 10mg per night now) and 20mg citalopram. I would like to get off both of these as well if I can. But I have no clue how to even start. Tried cutting the Cipralex (ecitalopram) in half but the withdrawals were almost as bad as the zolpidem.

I know I should go to the doctors, but 'my' doctors has since left and I am now on the list of a real bitch female from hell. I don't trust her one iota. Also have some mobility issue right now so cant get there anyhow.

I feel so low, feel like I simply am in a box and MUST take all these pills until I die. I'm not old yet, but over here, (UK) medics are swamped with old people (especially in the town where I live) and anyone over 40 seems to be written off medically.

Just dont know what to do, so any advice would be very much and highly appreciated. Fingers crossed someone can help, I am terrified of trying to do anything myself in case I mess it up horribly.

I know this doesn't immediately help you much at all, but please, please, please try to see a doctor about this, even if you have to change doctor. Neither drug is easy to come off, and you've obviously been prescribed them for a reason anyway, so you risk exacerbating your symptoms through attempting an uncontrolled taper.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I was starting to think I had posted in the wrong place to ask for advice. Maybe my reply would be better off in another place, so if mods think so, then plse feel free to move it.

I can judge now that my PTSD has diminished, not gone. But 4 years is wayyyyyy too long to be on any of these from what I read. The Cipralex never worked anyhow, but it was the last one available for the GP to try.

The Cipralex was prescribed to stop the 'downwards spiral' but it has never done that.

Time does place us further away from the initiating events, even though those events are always present. That plus the Zolpidem ensuring I do get about 6 hours of sleep a night, I am grateful.

But I know myself and it is time to try to taper it some more. I have a glut of Diazepam since I cut down to only one tab at night, so I will try to figure out the best way to do it by researching online.

Thought people here would have a good regime is all. Thanks anyhow.

I have fairly limited experience with Citalopram (was prescribed it for a while when my GP was trying assorted SSRIs/SNRIs on me to... actually not quite sure why they tried me on so many other than I didn't get along well with most of 'em) but I would echo Sammy's suggestion to taper and never try to go cold turkey with these classes of drugs. Withdrawals from SSRIs and SNRIs are beyond brutal. All the physical anguish compounded by a complete mental and emotional headfuck. All GPs should be aware of what they euphemistically call "SSRI/SNRI Discontinuation Syndrome" (aka withdrawal by any other name) and as such should be able to arrange a suitable tapering schedule with you. I see you mentione troubles with your GP but this should not be a problem - change GPs if needs be. Keep changing if you can't come to a sensible arrangement with whichever one you are seeing. Some GPs are sadly greatly behind the times when it comes to these type of issues and for those situations you're banging your head against a brick wall and would be better off just changing to another GP. Rest assure that there are sane and sensible GPs out there who fully understand the problems and issues associated with SSRI/SNRI withdrawal. The same is true of benzos. Find a doctor who you can work with and worth with that doctor. It's possible to go it alone and simply taper your own doses and eventually quit but it is far better if you can do so under medical supervision.

Good luck, and you are very far from alone when it comes to issues of this nature I can assure you. The problem appears to be more with certain GPs who refuse to accept the voluminous evidence that shows they were mistaken - not all doctors are so self-obsessed and vain and many - if not most - should be able to help you taper and quit these scripts. Don't let those few - as they say - bad apples spoil your tapering and ultimately quitting of scripts that are widely-known and beyond any possible doubt to be highly addictive and dependence-forming <3

Sorry but it ISN'T going strong. Only a few have commented.

We all know about zop us, it's a sleeping tab n it's addictive.

Ten out of ten bunge for making a thread. Gold star!!! ROUND OF APPLAUSE PEOPLE TIME TO TAKE A BOW TO THE GREAT BUNGE !!!!

Haha :)
Evey xxxx

1. This was my first thread on BL ever Evey and considering its gone for 5 PAGES i think its fairly well frequented by our fellow BLers.

2."we know all about zop us" thats the worst grammer ive had to suffer through in a long time but i get the gist i think.
My thread was originally about ZOLPIDEM not ZOPICLONE, the conversation just turned that way and who are you to belittle the drugs i use or have an interest in? I'll go out on a limb and say my knowledge on this subject matter matches or exceeds your own.

3. You had fuck all constructive or informative to say, so why bother commenting? Unless your jumping into my thread in order to try and troll me...in which case, your a bit of a sad act (big surprise).

How would you like me to dig out your old threads and troll them?...im not that sad and have better things to do and its almost certain that you will make a fool of yourself at some point.

Id suggest you wind your neck in, fuck off out of my thread and climb back into your box, leave the discussion to those with the intelligence to provide informative, useful posts.
