I know many are probably on zolpidem as a short-medium term sleep aid and may use it recreationally now and again, but are there any others out there that just cant get enough of it?

I'm talking popping it all day, first thing I think of when waking up and just wanting to get buzzed on it rather consistently 8)

Not ridiculous doses for me like 25mg give or take every say 3-4 hrs does me just fine ;) I guess its the anxiolytic/euphoric/talkative and even stimulating effect for me initially infact almost like cocaine.

Its the only other drug since pot that I have been seriously addicted to (not that I have tried everything in the book by any means). Atleast these 2 dont arguably have severe physical withdrawal symptoms I guess.

Am I alone on this :! or any others like this with zolpidem (ambien/stilnox)? And what kinda damage are we talking for longish term abuse of this nature?

There are a ton of threads on Ambien here in Other Drugs. Please try using the search engine or the Other Drugs Directory before starting a new thread.

Nice that you realised to open it.

Because I think zolpidem addiction is even harder to break than benzo addiction.

I have taken it nasally 1.5 years before bedtime , about 10-15 mgs per night average.

I think I am not psychically addicted, but I would guess that it should be horrible ?!

If somebody could tell?

I doubt you are physically addicted to Ambien. I would be more concerned about my nose after snorting Ambien for that long. That shit burns like a motherfucker.

I am used to that. When I started, it made me sneeze hard

Todays it is like taking air in.

I take the cover off from it and do only the powder. I smash it with mortar and pestle , then strain the powder out and store the rest

The w/d and PAWS are gonna be a motherfucker.

And you *can* get physically addicted, particularly with the route of admin. you are using (snorting).

If it is Ambien I couldn't see myself doing it expect for sleep and never making a habbit. If it it Imovane, for me NEVER b/c I dry heave/throw up from the after taste for about the whole night and the next morning.

I know people who abuse both.

1 ambien gives me a nicer buzz then 2mg of xanax and leaves no problems the next days unlike xanax. Ambien was king but i can take 4 now and not feel anything.

I think I am physically addicted. I am feeling shit most of the day. It helps when I get my dose of zolpidem.

I am benzo addicted too, though I yesterday took my _Final_ dose of diazepam, 5 mgs and that is it, no more, (until...) , that doesn't help zolpidem withdrawals at all. I feel shit most of the time, until I take my daily dose of Z

Madmike-
just don't take benzo's with it- why?
Here's my strategy:
1) Ambien is way addictive, but in a weird way. It takes your sleep from you. Davis drug guide even states, "Prolonged use greater than 7 days may lead to physical and psychological dependence". It absolutely causes physical dependence, and you got it brother, bad.
2) Benzo's are your out. You can either cut the ambien cold turkey (when you are ready) and not sleep for a few days, depsite exhaustion. OR you can taper down but the second you decrease the dosage you won't be able to sleep, like at all, so why prolong the suffering? Kill the ambien when you are ready, use benadryl and benzo's to bring sleep. As long as you aren't building a super mellow drug, the ambien and benzo combined, one can cancel out the other. Follow?
Sorry, I'm totally blasted right now, so my ability to write is kind of fucked/ (80 mg Vic ES- I used the cold water extraction method to save my liver. Feels like 50 mg got through)
But it has to be timed right because I don't think I've encountered any prescribed pill as addictive as benzos.

I took the last 10 mgs I had, I am going to get more on wednesday. I have melatonin pils ...

I think I am going to sleep soon, I got so relaxed from that 10 mgs

Ambien rules.
Swim takes 25mg during the day and it's like he smoked
a reefer and snorted some coke.
The regular folks who never did lSD,Marijuana wouldn't get the hypnotic side effects but for those who know better i's a cool blast.
For those who use it as a sleeping aid yes go to bedright away.

Ho long have you been doing this, and how many mgs. a day?

My nurse gave me a scrip for them and now I am afraid to take them (or even try them) in fear of freaking out, or worse, going for a drive. That would be bad.

Taking Ambien daily ruins it for you. If you have a little trouble sleeping ( not insomnia cause i know some people just cant sleep) then taking it once or twice a week will help you regulate your sleep. It did for me.

But i don't understand how it can be addictive for years and years cause i can't get the high from it by increasing the dose. It also doesn't make me fall asleep anyway. I think when i started taking xanax it weakened the ambien for me.

cool, thnx for reopening and discussion

the only benzo I have done is diazepam, which is nice to relax but just doesnt deliver any where near the hit/euphoria and for that reason I far prefer the zolpidem. Perhaps I would like xanax from what I have read but I still suspect the zolpidem is faster acting and more psychoactive than benzos while also being anxiolytic and not as physically messy (addiction/withdrawal)

best description is like a cocaine/pot hybrid affect on me id say, but yeh it does help me sleep also so when I cant get it I get mild abdominal cramps/sweating and insomnia (thats cold turkey from ~70mg daily)

i've been using it for 2 years to get to sleep (10-15mg) for the past 2 years now, do you guys really think it has the potential for physical addiction? i don't think it has but then again i haven't gone without at least half a pill a night in one and a half years but i'm pretty sure it's all psych for me, have been working towards getting off it for a while (i was using it + weed every night for a good year and a half - really nice combo but stay away if u can), getting there slowly - just need to convince myself that i can actually get to sleep without it one day

I take xanax in small doses (2mg at most) but you get alittle buzz for it that lasts for such a short period and its not as cool as the ambien buzz.

I'm sure if i took like 6mg i would be whacked but i get bad rebound anxiety on it which is why i use it, for anxiety.

hearing some one saying ambien is like cocaine is kinda new to me.I think your referring to the euphoria that it causes as having an energizing effect,IMO.and also, if you take ambien long enough, i think you could get moderate WD symptoms , just not as bad as most benzos, but it isnt a benzo, i think ive heard it called a "non-benzodiazepine sedative/hypnotic with similar effects". As for the effects, i actually enjoy them too. they give me a semi-euphoric ,kinda trippy hypnotic buzz. Its not my favorite tranquilizer/hypnotic though. And as a matter of fact, i took 30mg about 3 minutes before i saw this post! what a coincidence lol. and as for calling it cocaine like, thats kinda far-fetched to me.....I would best describe the ambien buzz as a lorazepam type-ish buzz, with a little more euphoria and a bit trippier......It doesnt really resemble cocaine to me at all....coke makes me stay up all night feling paranoid and grinding my teeth, while ambien gives me a relaxing hypnotic tranquilizer buzz that i could easily go to sleep on. but, your not alone in your love for ambien.Ive been enjoying it for several years now, but ive always been taking good 4-7 day breaks to lower my tolerance, because im prescribed to it.Just be careful, because taking it the way you described WILL lead to physical dependance, and possibly psycholgical dependence too. I dont know how bad the physical addiction can get, but im willing to bet that it could cause some uncomfortable detox affects, considering that its a potent tranquilizer/hypnotic IMO.The severity of psychological dependence probably depends on the person tho, just like with any drug.

But considering the way you described how much you like it, id WACTH OUT. ADDICTION TO TRANQS/BENZOS/QUASI-BENZOS(BENZO-LIKE ABUSABLE TRANQS) CAN BE A BITCH!!!!!!! I was addicted to Xanax for 4 years(i WAS prescribed though)and it was HELL withdrawling from it, physically and mentally.....i even had a few seizures and had tremors,insomnia,cold-sweats,and severe dysphoria for about 8 months after being tapere off.so as a friendly bit of advice DONT GET ADDICTED!!!!! YOUR PROBABLY STRONGER THAN THAT MAN!!!! UTILIZE SOME SELF CONTROL! AT LEAST DONT TAKE IT EVERY DAY!!! You should occasionally reward yourself instead, the high will be much stronger because you wont grow a tolerance as quickly, and it will be funner because its a treat instead of a daily routine.
Please consider what ive said man, ive been down the road of tranquilizer addiction, and it can cause hoooorid effects-I wish you the best of luck man.Im sure that many people on here will agree with what ive said.(back me up guys!!)-Peace,love,and best wishes-

I have been two nights completely without zolpidem.

Melatonin has helped me to fall asleep, but I have still felt a little uncomfortable. Last night I woke up couple times, but those times I needed to go to toilet, anyways.

It is not that bad, eh?
