Zolpidem more powerful than Lorazepam?

Bleh for me personally ambien is lame, but have known a person heavily addicted to it and high doses of seroquel to fall asleep after years of abusing ecstasy almost daily. The reason they say klonopin is equally strong as xanax is mainly because of the fact it's almost 3x longer than most benzos excluding valium. However it is more subtle and doesn't hit you as hard as xanax or ativan WHICH is WHY those two are USED for acute panic attacks.

Klonopins take awhile to kick in and are more subtle but keep anxiety away for longer periods of time. Before i was prescribed to them, i hated them so much for recreational purposes. A lot of people think ativan (lorazepam) is useless, but i can definitely "feel" it way more in equal doses than klonopins and more of a head high/ fast anxiety relief. But wouldn't want it for long term same with xanax because of the very short acting effects causing people to re-dose more frequently vs klonopins lasting much longer in the system.

So an update I would give since I made this thread is that I've built up a tolerance to GABA modulators.

At the time of this post, my tolerance to GABA modulators was almost none. But as time has gone on and now that I've been on these for a longer period of time, I can say that Lorazepam is now definitely better for anxiety and Ambien is definitely better for sleep. Due to tolerance, Ambien gives me a very minimal anxiolytic effects now. It does still give me some anxiolysis and that does still stop a lot of my nighttime anxieties, but it's no longer an Ativan replacement.

I used to (at the time of this post) be able to take Ambien to stop panic attacks and such, but this no longer works. Ativan is now way better at stopping anxiety for me, and as odd as this sounds, as my tolerance to Ambien has gone up, the effectiveness of Ativan has also gone up. I can't really tell if this is because of tolerance to Ambien or not, however, I can say for sure that Ativan feels much more sedating than when I originally started it.

I didn't read all the replys mate but I have had symptoms EXACTLY like yours and Zolpidem is probably the best med u could take for ur case, or maybe hypnotic benzos like nitrazepam but u would need hgher doses, Zolpidem kicks fuck out of lorazepam for sleep , 2 different tools ;)

Xanax is one of the most euphoric drugs I've ever tried. It's almost, if not, equal to Oxycodone in terms of euphoricness, and ranks right up there with the way I felt the first time I ever tried speed.

However, Xanax is also THE most fiendish drug I've ever tried. I can feel withdrawal symptoms, even after one use and due to this fact, I find it in no way fit for medical use as there is no way I could stop myself from using it everyday. Tolerance to benzo's builds up fast to begin with, but Xanax tolerance is a bitch. Again, tolerance rears it's ugly head after only one Xanax dose. Plus the euphoria from Xanax stops me from being able to do anything. I'll just lay on my bed, stare at the ceiling, have no thoughts, and just be like "Ahhhhh......this is the way people were meant to feel......."

Due to this fact, Ativan is way better for medical use.

I think it all depends on how severe ur anxiety is because absolutely no benzo gives me euphoria of any kind, Xanax makes me energetic and calm at the same time just relieved from anxiety nothing else (normal) I'll take my kids to the park , go to work , go to the gym, whatever, if ur getting euphoria from benzos then you obv don't need that particular benzo or that strength , benzos are nothing more than medication IMO. Xanax is equal to Oxycodone in terms of Euphoricness, so ur saying Alprazolam feels like Heroin basically ? Sounds like u have a very low tolerance or don't need them for real reasons.

Ur body definitely reacts different from mine, u stare at the ceiling and can't move whereas I bounce in a shower and take my kids out, I do agree with u on the fiendish thing, although after years of experience and almost dying several times I have the discipline to take medication properly.

For me zolpidem is more powerful than all the benzos. I'm not ur average sample tho, I like the "non-benzo" zolp better than benzos. Hate the tolerance build up tho.

Id be carefull with Ambien. Memory loss, Seeing things and hearing things that are not there. Im so stupid I took 17 in a course of a day and vomited, had a strange trip, would fall over...not fun and I could have really hurt myself. They are a strange drug.....

Yeah they would seem strange if you took 17 in a day lol, 5 - 10mg should be enough to relax you till the point where u feel like going to bed, I did notice my eyes going a bit funny, but I liked it cos it just felt like my eyes naturally rolling (tired). Zopliclone does absolutely nothing for me . I also like how fast Zolpidem creeps up on you, nice sleeping aid IME.

I was prescribed Ambien for three months about two years ago. It was amazing--at the time I had been on a high dose of klonopin--and it felt so similar but more fun than klonopin. I used to have the time of my life...staring out the window at the neighborhood at night, and it looked like an impressionist painting, but the colors and shaped would move around. But the funny thing was, when I actually wanted to get to sleep, I would just take one and I'd be knocked out. But my doc took me off because my mom hospitalized me in the ER because my speech was all slurred and I had trouble staying awake one time she came into my room mid-trip. I had taken north of 150mg, but told my mom I had amnesia and guessed 8. So they drug tested me, and obviously nothing I wasn't prescribed to came up.

Now, fast forward 2 years, I have a new Doc, and he had no problem putting me back on Ambien, and I was obviously stoked. My usual ROA was insufflation, so I did that for a few nights...and nothing. Not a thing. So then I tried eating a bunch, and still nothing. I have no idea what happened to my alpha receptor but I am super bummed, and I can't take a bunch of klonopin because of my tolerance.

So I see the Doc in two days and I'm going to see how he feels about zopiclone, and maybe even temazepam.

Now, I have

From a pharmacological point of view, zolpidem is weaker than lorazepam at benzodiazepine receptors. But when it comes to any drug's efficacy in any treatment, it's not really affinity for their target or intrinsic activity that plays crucial role. Zolpidem binds less strongly to the BZD receptors, but it's much more selective for the subtype responsible for hypnotic effects.

Lorazepam was actually the benzodiazepine that made me addicted to BZDs for real (along with estazolam). And having tried a lot of benzodiazepine derivatives, I must say that lorazepam seems to have a low therapeutic index IMO as an anxiolytic or hypnotic (actually, it was never of any use for my insomnia). It not only alleviated anxiety for me, but also boosted my mood like no other benzodiazepine could. I know it's used an anxiolytic, a hypnotic, and also as an anticonvulsant. To me only the last indication makes sense with this drug. It's too much habit-forming vs. benefits for the treatment.

I can agree with the habit-forming part.

Around 8 months ago now. I got sixty 1MG Ativan pills for free off of someone who was just trying to get rid of the stuff. So, I took 1MG the first day. Thought it was alright. But then I bumped it up to 2MG's, then 4MG's and finally settled at 6MG's every night. I did this for about 2 weeks until I ran out and when I finally did - it was the worst thing I've ever experienced. Worse than Hydrocodone withdrawl.

I didn't feel like I had the flu, like I did when I was withdrawing from Hydrocodone - but I felt everything else. My muscles ached all day and all night. I didn't sleep for 3 days when it started, and only got 4 hours a night until the withdrawals subsided. But the worst part was the rebound anxiety. I was a nervous wreck the entire time. I was having panic attacks every 15 minutes it seemed like and I went through a manic/dissociative episode.

Anyways, my point is, that was after only 2 WEEKS!! I couldn't imagine having to withdrawal off of Benzo's from long-term use. In fact you shouldn't - you could have a seizure.

Yeah that's how it makes you feel. As you stated, drugs affect everyone differently, so what works for you may not be the same for me or anyone else.

Xanax makes me energetic and calm at the same time just relieved from anxiety nothing else (normal) I'll take my kids to the park , go to work , go to the gym, whatever,

Again that's how it makes you feel. Xanax, or any other benzo, just makes me really slow and not give a shit about anything at all. Ativan does this, but its to a much lesser extent than either Valium, Klonopin or Xanax and that's why I feel like it's better in terms of medicinal use. Sure, it's not anywhere near as powerful as any of those, and therefore it's anxiolytic effect is less, but it still stops my panic attacks and it will bring me out of a manic episode.

if ur getting euphoria from benzos then you obv don't need that particular benzo or that strength

No, I said I was getting euphoria FROM XANAX ONLY. I agree, benzodiazepines don't give me euphoria at all. The only benzo I've ever tried that has - is Xanax. And that euphoria was really only there the first time I did it.

benzos are nothing more than medication IMO.

That's what I was saying. That's why I said I thought Xanax wasn't fit for me as a medicinal drug - because it was too euphoric and addictive. Because Ativan doesn't give me euphoria, I can take it more often than once in a blue moon. As I stated above, Valium and Klonopin also didn't give me euphoria - but they did feel better than Ativan did, so I choose not to have those and to take the least powerful - yet still effective drug out of the lot.

Xanax is equal to Oxycodone in terms of Euphoricness, so ur saying Alprazolam feels like Heroin basically?

Where did I say that? Where did I EVER say that Xanax was equal to Heroin?! I said it was equal to oxycodone in terms of euphoricness. I never said it felt exactly like oxy, I said it was equal in TERMS OF EUPHORICNESS ONLY! Sounds to me like you need to reread my post 8)

Sounds like u have a very low tolerance or don't need them for real reasons.

Ugh. If you had read my post fully, you would have noticed how I said for panic attacks and mania.

Anyways, I just came to realize that the reason why I find Zolpidem more "powerful" than Lorazepam is due to the fact that it's quite euphoric. Lorazepam isn't euphoric, nearly at all, and Zolpidem is.

Although if you take them together - the Lorazepam adds a lot to the euphoria of Zolpidem. Doesn't do shit by itself, but together? It's very relaxing and fun. Anything more than 10MG's of Zolpidem and 1MG of Lorazepam seems to induce a blackout, but being that out of it is very relaxing to be honest. Although, taking 20MG's of Zolpidem and 8MG's of Lorazepam together.....probably isn't all that great of an idea.......

Nice argument but the Xanax and Oxy thing in terms of euphoricness definately 2 very different things, but everyone responds different like u said.

Same with me, 10 mg of zolpidem are millions times better than 2 mg of clonazepam. I want to try xanax, but im afraid to ask for it. Is it sooo much better than clon or diazepam ? Thanks

You have to admit, though, that benzodiazepines are very slightly euphoic. There not anywhere near something like coke or E, but if I were to compare the coke euphoria to the benzo euphoria, wouldn't you say that benzos have, at least 1% of that euphoria?

Ambien is a short term med only. Be careful as i have found myself not caring about taking them like candy after the first one. Its better than Lorazepam IMO because it gives you similar, but more useful effects for sleeping. However long term, Lorazepam is better on paper.

Comparing cocaine/amphetamines with benzos or opioids its impossible. For sometimes I've compared zolpidem with my LSD experiences but that was completely stupid. I must say drugs are unique as well as each one's chemistry. Anyway we are here for something don't we ? C'mon we are from the same species so yes there are similarities, more than discrepancies, if you get what I mean.

The only way I could describe benzos as being Euphoric is if you were taking a heavy duty anxiety attack and took a heavy dose of Nitrazepam or Temazepam, or if mixed with Opiates or something, I accidently sunk right into my bed once, I had a hangover and the shakes I woke up about 6 in the morning, took a zolpidem to take the shakes away, didn't work, so after a while took a couple of tramadol, left it a while still rattling so took 120mg DHC, before I even knew it I woke up out of a heavy duty nod, amazing but scary, didn't even mean it.
