Opioids Zohydro 50 mg ER dosing

Hello all,

I have recently come across a large quantity of the new drug Zohydro, which, according to my limited amounts of research, is essentially just Hydrocodone without the Acetaminophen (Thank the lord!) Extended release.

I am not familiar with ER hydrocodone so I have no idea what a good dose would be. Does anyone have a "conversion" method of sorts? So, say I would normally take 70 mg hydrocodone IR, what would be a good dose for ER? Also, is there anyway to get around the time release mechanism? The pills I have are 50 mg hydrocodone ER each.

Sorry if this has already been answered. I did a small amount of research on my own but couldn't find anything credible/reliable since these are so new.

you are an incredibly lucky man. You're going to have to experiment. Start lower than your IR dose and work up, you know that ER <= IR won't kill you, so start there and work up. You don't want a massive buzz from overdosing yourself on an ER medication trying to get the same buzz. Also know, it probably WONT be the same buzz, comparing ER oxycodone, I would easily take 80mg IR to really get a good nod on, the ER's i've taken up to 160 and attained a different, though very long lived experience. Just be safe, work your dosage up slowly and enjoy that sweet sweet no APAP hydro. PS - I think the ER is just wax beads, take a mortar and pestle and crush that shit b! Used to do it with dexie spansules all the time! If it is the chewy plastic ER, you're fucked, just chew em up and report back! I'm interested in zohydro

Thanks for the response! I'm used to insufflating dope so I have a decent tolerance to opiates. About a week ago I popped 50 mg hydrocodone and only got a mild "background" buzz going on. I'm thinking 150 mg ER should be a good place to start, but it just makes me nervous taking that much because I really don't know how it's going to effect me... I have an idea but taking an absurd amount of opiates on sheer speculation isn't exactly practicing harm reduction lol.

I don't currently have the pills in my possession, they're at my friends house so I have to wait until he gets off work to check them out, but if the ER mechanism is wax beads, all I have to do is crush them? I really hope that ends up being the case because 50 mg pills with no acetaminophen while considering how many I have is enough for me to get high days on days.

I was hoping to find someone on here with personal experience but since they are so new I'm pessimistic at best :/ Oh well, at least I have the sons of bitches! haha
 
Any updates? I just got a hold of 15mg ones. It's tiny beads inside the capsule seems like if you wanted just crushing them up and toot. If that's your preference...I've read a bunch of articlesand that and that's all it seems to take to bypass the ER

i was just prescribed Zohydro today. Cannot pick up until tomorrow as pharmacies are having trouble getting them. I'm SO excited. Anyway, my PM doc described it as having approx 1mg of pure hydrocodone every hour up to 12 hours! Then I am to take another one. He is starting me on the 20mg. I have a moderate to high tolerance. Switching from Oxycondone, Hydromorphone, etc. He feels with my tolerance, that this is an adequate amount of new zohydro. He says if not, we will increase. I'm hoping this will somehow help with you calculations! I will also update tomorrow after I have taken it tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Please be EXTREMELY CAREFUL if you crush it up, as you have no idea how many mg's you're ingesting in one shot. It's just so new, trial and error will need to be done, but not at the expense of an OD or your life!!

and p.s.- I have done extensive reading on this Rx.. There are no safe guards in place, at this time, to deter abuse i.e.-crushing, melting etc, like OC's turning gummy, impossible to remove coating etc. That's why FDA and everyone are so concerned... I look forward to taking my tomorrow and getting back to you all!

Well if you really even have a "moderate" tolerance 20mg hydro won't do shit, he'll 20mg ER won't even take you outta dt's. To the OP: I have never taken them, but it appears grinding the beads up into a *very* fine powder, and adding water will completely break the time release. If you do not break the time release, I would take double your regular IR dose. So if you take 50mg, 100mg should give a similar effect. But start slow until you figure out how the ER affects you. I would just break the time release, but either way, I can't suggest starting at 150mg, I mean it wouldn't kill you, but I think 100mg just to be "safe", then work your way up from they're.
 
Lorne??? Then why are they say zohydro is so much stronger? Hell, I was prescribed 6 10's a day=60mg. If this zohydro is not stronger, I'm going down by 20mgs a day! How can that be right? PM knows I was building tolerance, that's why we're trying the new ER.. Any insight?
 
They say it's stronger because they are douchebags. Hydrocodone is hydrocodone; the zohydro is simply an extended release form. That means that 20mg zohydro is actually equivelant to roughly 10mg hydrocodone, but it lasts much longer. Imagine the 20mg zohydro is like a lortab 10, but it lasts 12 hours. But if you are prescribed 60mg hydro per day, 20mg zo hydro isn't going to nearly cut it. Tell him you take 60mg per day, and so you need the 30mg zohydro. You may need something for breakthrough as well, everyone I know on ER meds complain's they do not hold long enough. Or go to Zohydro 40mg. But if your doctor is prescribing you 60mg of hydrocodone per day, and is attempting to drop you to 40 hydrocodone ER, well he is an idiot, and you would probably be better off sticking with 60mg IR hydrocodone.
 
Thanks for clearing that up! Yes he's the one who gives me the 60mgs. He is not familiar with zohydro, I'm the one that requested it. He looked something up on his iPad and somehow came up with the 20's. If I find I'm having major reduction in effects, I'll ask for increase. Thanks again!!

Yeah, I have to agree, Ive seen news articles about this and everyone is soo worried about this drug, but its only vicoden without the acet....I know the media likes to call vicoden a 'powerful' painkiller, but those experienced with opiates know vicoden is fairly weak, and what most people are started on.

I may be wrong about this new version, but a 20mg Zohydro is only equal to (4) of the old 5/500mg vicodens, which 4 of those would not do shit for me.

Yeah exactly AND t that 20mg is time released over 12 hours. So......it's just anti drug bullshit.
 
Has anyone here got these from a pharmacy yet? I'm very much curious how much is in the capsule. I've received some from a very reliable source. 15mg ones. When i opened one to see what it was about there's hardly anything in the capsule. But the 10mg 15mg 20mg 40mg and 50mg seem to be in the same sized capsule. And all 60 i received have the same in them and i doubt the source would go through every one and take some out. I just want to know for sure with a photo of one from one of you that got them direct from pharmacy.

Ps sorry for the caps. I can't get my phone to take it off. I have a crack where the button is.

LOL, yeah, thats what it probably is, when I first heard about this drug, everyone was up in arms about it and trying to get it banned, and I was like...duh, its only vicodin LOL but the media likes to think vicoden is on the same level as heroin, opana, methadone, etc. LOL fucking nuts!

I dont think theres even a market for vicoden in my area anymore, unless its like high school kids or something, I dont know anyone that has ever gone out looking for vicoden specifically, usually its something you take if you cant get ahold of something better LOL

However I remember when I was 12 yrs old, and had my wisdom teeth out, they gave me 5/500mg vics, and the first one I took, I was asleep within like 15 minutes, hit me like a brickwall!!! My parents held the pill bottle in their room, didnt trust me with it, even back then..heh heh heh LOLWish my tolerance was still like that!
 
There is a congressional bill out to either have the pharmaceutical company reformulate this Zohydro or remove it from the market.
 
I got mine from phamacy today... And to my absolute shock.... My insurance covered all by $25 for 60 pills! I'm looming for the smiley with a dropped jaw and thought bubble saying... REALLY?!?!. Anyway I have only taken one orally, while in rush! Felt gooood for about 6 hours, then seemed to start to wane, then to my surprise, approx 15 mins later,I was off and running again. It's about time for 2nd dose now. I will make it a point to investigates the amount inside of capsule & report back!!

I wanna know how effective crushing and snorting one is. To this point no one really knows what snorting pure hydrocodone is like. It may suck,, or maybe it really is up there with oxy, I dunno.

I wonder they are going after this drug so hard, I mean, its only vicoden without the acet....??? I would think if they wanted to stop drug abuse, theres much stronger things to go after.
