I was just wondering how long withdrawal symptoms of Zopiclone withdrawal will occur after stopping usage?

Thanks.

Are you able to taper the dose? I would go from 10 mg to 5 mg for a couple weeks then break a 5 mg pill in half and take that for a couple of weeks. Quitting cold turkey can cause rebound insomnia.

Yeah generally I've seen no worse withdrawal from Zopiclone then rebound insomnia. I took 15mg's a night or more for months on end and had no withdrawal problems except i couldn't sleep.

So yeah taper if you can. Also benzos will substitute for Zopiclone if you do get withdrawals.

Zopiclone withdrawal is no joke my mom is going through a taper right now she stopped and she almost seized up until she was able to get more. Its eerily similar to benzo withdrawal which would make sense since it is basically a benzo. Don't discontinue without your physician knowing make sure you taper the stuff.

Do you know what dose she was on and for how long? I have never seen anyone get withdrawals like that from Zopiclone before and i was taking loads of them myself for a long time. But i don't seem to be susceptible to benzo wd anyway so everyone is different.

Ive read an article solopsis gave me over in PD (good guy by the way) saying that The withdrawal can last along time it usually varies but it is common for people to feel symptoms 2 years after cessation of use. Most of the time people who are dependant feel the majority of the symptoms during the first 30-60days after stopping. This is why it's important to taper this drug or go on to Valium to taper with to make things easier. This drug has been shown to have worse rebound effects than benzos in some cases so don't be fooled this is a benzo in disguise. Makes sense since you can swap zopiclone out with benzos as android already said. Zopiclone can be a substitute for benzos, and benzos can be a substitute for zopiclone.

Yes well that's exactly right paranoid android everybody is different people like me and you don't seem to be as susceptible to benzodiazapine/Z drug addiction whereas others get hooked right away.
My mom never really abused her script near the end she took an extra half or full pill to fall asleep most nights but normally it was 1.5 tablets a night of 7.5mg zopiclone. That's all she took but she took it daily and got dependant after a few months. She's been on it for years but wants to stop due to its short half life and just not wanting to be on the crap any longer in general.

I always hated the stuff myself its not for me, uhh! the taste of heavy metals in your mouth all day everyday no thanks you can keep those pills the taste can't even be covered up since its your brain sending the signal directly to your taste buds.

Hmm i didn't find that Zopiclone could substitute for a benzo as in my case i was on clonazepam and ran out once but abunch of Zopiclone pills didn't do anything but take the edge off. On the otherhand a benzo will substitute for Zopiclone rather easy and i often alternated between Zopiclone and temazepam. I find Zopiclone to go great with benzos and that's the only time i can enjoy any benzo oir Z-drug really. Well Temazepam is different as i actually get euphoria from that benzo. But Zopiclone is good with any benzo really.

But yeah the only benzo i have been psychologically addicted to is Temazepam because i actually found it euphoric. I've had ampules of IV/IM Valium and vials of Lorazepam and they still can't beat oral Temazepam. I have a script for Clonazepam and i often have left overs at the end of the month so i'm hardly a benzo freak. Though i am prescribed 6mg's of Clonazepam a day along with the 7.5mg's of Zopiclone but i have bipolar and get severe insomnia hence the high doses of downers. I have run out once when a "friend" of mine took abunch of my Clonazepam and although it really really sucked i wouldn't say it's as bad as Alcohol withdrawal. Then again what is?
