Your top 5 "drug movies" & what you watch when you're high...

I really liked Wonderland, however I'm not sure if you would actually call it a drug movie. They all did/stole/sold quite a lot of drugs throughout the movie though.

For those who aren't familiar, Wonderland is the true story (w/ some dramatic scenes added for effect I imagine) of Jon Holmes and the wonderland avenue murders (also known as the Laurel Canyon Murders) on July 1st, 1981.

Also, Half Baked will always be a stoner classic. IMO

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is so fuckin legit. That movie still gets me everytime

It's an intense movie about how heroin affects a group of teenage friends. The outcomes are incredibly extreme, though. I don't want to go into detail because I don't want to ruin it for everyone, but it makes you go "oh. my. god." It made me want to never do drugs again, then I got high and wanted to do lots of drugs 8). I would recommend seeing it once, but proceed with caution!

The 3 friends got onto H, his mum was on DX for the 'diet pills'. Her story was more tugging at the heart strings (IMO)

- For me it's Trainspotting, more realistic showing you what 'just is' not preachy unlike the message they were trying to send you in Reqiuem that all people who try the 'demon' become heavily addicted..... I'll refrain from the other inaccuracies in the film.

ENTER THE VOID

How has this film not been mentioned? It's visually stunning. Keep in mind it's about reincarnation, and if you're on hallucinogenics it might send off some dark vibrations. But I've never seen it while tripping, just crazy stoned.

The French Connection & Drugstore Cowboy are my 2 faves
Can't believe no one else has mentioned The French Connection, true story as well . They never did catch Frog 1.

IMO
Requiem for a dream.

3 groups of people,
start working toward something they want,
and with solid goals,
fall short of the finish line,
and fall fucking hard.

Although unrealistically, they inject Heroin and their pupils dilate, the movie really draws out on some realistic emotions and possibilities.
The plot, is so fucking easy to relate to, from any drug user, or anyone who's ever tried to achieve more than they're getting in their lives.
And really follows the very real fear of addiction, in any persons mind. Not even just the addiction to a chemical, the addiction to a want, a desire.

I haven't seen any drug-related movie like it, but I'd surely like to, or even one better :D <3
Your favorite?
Good watches?
Etc.?
You forgot about the old lady speeding on diet pills and ends up with psychosis
thinking the refrigerator is out to get her.hahaha

AND wtf nobody has said anything about THE WALL by Pink Floyd

If you like pink floyd its a really really really good movie.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE Requiem, but I kinda think it's overrated. Great character development though.
that being said:
(not in order)
Fear and Loathing
Salton Sea(thanks for reminding me about this one)
Trainspotting
The Wall
The Yellow Submarine(suprised this one wasn't popping up)
KIDS<----so good

I can't think of all of them off the top of my head bit sleepy. I got a new list of movies to watch over the weekend though :D !

For a movie to watch ON drugs it's definitely Waking Life, period, end of sentence, there's no better movie around imo.

For movies about drugs, Requiem for a Dream and The Basketball Diaries are the best "serious" ones while Trainspotting and Blow are more lighthearted.

Where the Buffalo Roam
Easy Rider
Liquid Sky

Some one's I enjoy, Liquid sky is very wierd though; basically about aliens that steal people's highs when injecting H or having sex killing them in the process.

It's quite funny though in a way seeing a load of pretentious fashion student's being absorbed by aliens.

Fear and Loathing hands down... I've watched it at least 10 times in different situations... high, drunk, rollin, tripping, etc.. and every time, it is always different and never makes sense. I love it. I have seen just about everything else and Fear and Loathing is my ultimate all time favorite drug movie.

when im on opiates fucking 'barton fink' is the perfect flick for the way im feeling
no drugs in it just some booze

big lebowski is pretty good

and back in the day i used to love to watch once upon a time in america when i was all hit, but they only had a few opium den scenes

whoever said skins right on, that show sucked me right in, when i told my brit friends i was hooked on it, they were like but D thats a teeny bopper show 8)

skins? that has to be one of the worst depictions of drugs, youth and life in general.. just try watching one of the new episodes without cringing, they have a subliminal anti-drug message which becomes clear in the third series when one of the characters get's prosecuted for selling a generic white powder drug (MDMA apparently) to some tard who jumps off a balcony at a club for no apparent reason. even in the first two series when it wasn't as terrible as it is now their portrayal of drugs and drug users was pretty stupid, the protagonists spend half their time taking "pillz" which I guess are assumed to be ecstacy... The amount of times I've seen people buy any random BZP crap because they're "Pills" and therefore must be E is ridiculous, especially when said pills come for anything less than £10. I often think the airheaded attitude portrayed in skins towards drugs has something to do with that.

posting "skins" in a drug movie's topic is almost offensive.
