Thanks mate,

Cheers for the feedback.

Plan B was just the name I made up on the spot tbh and didnt have any bearing on the song. I realise if someone isnt really into Tech House then it might seem a little repetitive and dull.

I will have a tinker around with it to see if I can improve it based on what you said :)

Hey yo, this is my first post in the production thread, this is just a hip hop beat i made, its still a work in progress but i just wanted some feedback in the direction its heading..
I know of some changes that need to be made but cant be stuffed working on it some more yet maybe some feedback will encourage me but ey try this:

Prop5 . . . I like this . . . the double reverse cymbal hits in the cut outs are tight . . . I would like to hear a little bit more going on here but this is a hip hop instrumental so I can imagine I wouldn't feel the same way with some nice lyrics on top . . . I would really like to hear the digital effect sounding melody a little more, bring it up in the mix . . . not bad at all for your first post. :)

otownz . . .

Iron Boy . . . interesting concept here . . . I feel like your percussion work is alright but it kind of muddled and low . . . IMO the drums need some eq'ing and compression . . . I don't like the way that the Iron Man sample cuts off but that is really just personal taste . . . a good idea here but its just too linear and stagnant for a breaks song IMO . . . a little variation, bring up the bass and the drums and this could be a tight floor filler.

Cut Throat . . . I dig the percussion in this one, sounds a little better than the first one . . . the bass is still a little in the mix . . . that key melody that kicks in at like forty seconds or so is nice, a little loud IMO but is nice. You play that? . . . you can't really hear the stabs underneath it at like one minute and a half, you might want to work on your levels to bring them to proper footing . . . this could be a real nice track, my only real qualm is the key melody volumes, way too loud IMO.

KillerLoop . . . Medicine Man . . . this is pretty funky, I like . . . it takes a grip to really get going though, although one wouldn't notice that when it was mixed in a set . . . the synth work that kicks in at like one minute and forty seconds, even though just a little intro type thing, is nice . . . the ones after that, the bass and synths, work really well together . . . bass may be a tid bit too loud but still nicely put together . . . sequenced pretty well. I dig this a lot. :)

Plan B . . . this one starts off a little quicker . . . real nice . . . love the percussion work in this one, especially the percussion sound choices . . . nice bass line, that is really tight. :) the changeup at one minute is really choice . . . those vocal moans in the breakdown at around three minutes are really nice . . . really nice . . . this is one of the better tracks that I've heard in this thread.

Thanks for that negative :)

I listened to broken pockets for now, i even had to sign up to download it! :p

I really liked how it starts of with the suttle bass line and the beeping electronic sounds, it sounds really nice, then bam it hits the track changes direction and i hear some little happy violins witch give the track some nice abstract weirdness to it. Further on in the track, the organ sounds with the beat work really well. One thing i could do without is the harshness of those crash symbols, i reckon they could sound good with a pitch bend from low to high back to low, could work well with the echo.. ehh well just an idea (why would you listen to me, my skills arent as good) but otherwise it was a nice track.. will listen to more later :)

Negative - cheers for the feedback bro.

Broken Pockets - Oh lord this is a weird tune. It's pretty damn original, not really heard stuff like this. I can't really pigeon hole it into a genre - maybe abstract breaks. I liek the weird percussion noises and the background reverb sounds. The only thing I might fiddle with is the bassline, it sounds a little too random, but maybe that's what you're going for :)

Static - Nice open hat sounds here. A little drumming rule here for you - always put a bass drum kick in where the is a crash cymbal sound, it makes it sound way more full. I like the distorted sample and ramdom piano and trumpet sounds.

Grand Central - Very atmospheric tune. Sounds like its out of a film soundtrack. Nice use of reverb here. I love the violin stabs and the organ. This is my fav one.

Addictions - Like the classic muffled trumpet sound. I do like the drum sounds but I think you could do more wioth hats and offbeat claps to fill out the drums. The guitar reverb sample sounds I did dead, I like the idea but maybe it needs more compression to really bring it out.

Matt Harder - Walking Project:

I like the atmosphere of this tune. Nice dark and eerie.

imo some of the bass noises needed to be a bit phatter. More of a rumble there. The basslines seem to just change in smooth transistions, I think it might be best if you have say 3 phat basslines all coming iin more randomly with eachother.

That noise that comes in after the breakdown - that kinda synth voice noise. Personally I dont like it much. It sounds a bit generic. Maybe have a fiddle and see if you can make more of a weird noise.

I like the way the tune binds after the main breakdown. Gets the floor moving.

I think also you need some extra few layers of percussion. Some offbeat hats or claps. It might sound too cluttered then though.

I like this one man overall. I hope my comments are of some use.

Necro - To Hell

First thing I notice was the main synth line needs some reverb on it to stop it sounding so flat.

Nice mix of Trance and breaks here man.

It's not really my style of music so it's hard for me to comment on but I would say that to master that Trancey sound it needs to have more layers in it, it sounds slightly too sparse as it is. Make sure you're adding compression and reverb to sounds to make them more 'alive'.

Necro - The Shadow

First thing I noticed I like it the hi hat pattern with that breathing noise thrown in. It really compliments the track.

I think again the track needs to be built up some more. The thing with Trance is you do have to have a lot of musical knowledge about chords and keys etc....which err I aint got haha.

I like the Shadow vocal sample and after the breakdown the more chilled synths sound nice.

I've found with a lot of Trance tracks people produce that there tunes sound like 3 seperate tunes rolled into one. That happens here a little so you might want to bring some more familiarity to each sections of the tunes.

Good stuff :)

here is a link where you can check out a few of my unfinished tracks...i have only been producing for a verry short time and i dont have too many resources...but for now i am doing the best i can teaching myself along the way

headknocka...

Firstly, I'm not an avid DnB fan so, I can't be very technical.

Smile- It started slow and the single synth doesn't hold the song very well, but when the voice sample came in I was listening again(Good use of timing with it too, BTW-Extra points for difficulty), and I like the bassline which follows.

Unkut- Very nice hard synth. I loved it. My favorite of the three.

Sensation- Good use of the many samples and what I notice most are all the dynamics/knob tweaks. Excellent job with this one.

Well done with all, although it's not my favorite genre I think you did well. Only one thing that sucked out of all of them...THEY NEED TO BE FINISHED! :p c'mon man I was left so disappointed, finish them please.

thanks a lot man...it means a lot to me tha tpeople like what i can do so far...i have only been producing for a matter of months...and just to let you know ther are verry few "samples" in any of those tracks...most of it is stuff that i actually wrote sound for sound...i dont know if you meant by saying "samples" that you think i am using loops or an individual note sample ...because the largest percentage of all of it is all original..out of my head....and i know i still have a long way to go...and look verry much forward to progressing and learning

By samples I didn't mean the melodies or drumbeats, or even the composition of your song. I meant the pre-recorded voice hits. Such as the girl saying "...sensation"

Stick with us, man...You'll learn the lingo.
