Can I have some please? I promise not to get my dick out.....
Yeah sure...just drive your car into the back of a lorry...mangle your leg into a bloody 90 degree mess with the bone sticking out...dial 999 and we'll be there in 8 minutes in a nice Mercedes Sprinter with a bag full of drugs.......admittedly its a bit of an effort for 20mg of morphine and 10mg Ketamine but hey....each to their own![]()
I'm glad you found it funny, I'm sure my antics that day robbed a fair few yoots of their innocence.
"Mummy - why was that man's eyes so big and why did he keep asking me for cigarettes?"![]()
I had to get the first train of the day, I was completely off my nut on coke and meph still after being on it for about 12 hours by that point, and was dressed in a very small crop top and hotpants combo (was planning on only going clubbing, not walking miles in the early morning chill). ... I proceeded to rail a huge line of coke off the conveniently placed window ledge.
We're not allowed to go over 20mg of morphine for anyone...regardless of tolerance... We would usually start at 5-10mg and titrate up based on your pain scale but legally can't go over 20mg. We would supplement with entanox (nitrous) and if your really, really fucked then ketamine but not all paramedics are allowed to admi sister ketamine only team leaders and HART (hazardous area response teams). That combo may not be ideal but should keep you somewhat comfortable on you way to hospital....entanox is stronger than most people think....I've seen people screaming their heads off who calm right down after a few puffs of the old nitrous. I know if you have a sizable habit 20mg may seem fuckall but more than that could kill an opjopiate nieve person and we have to cover our backs.......we would never call you or anyone else a junkie though. Most paramedics are compassionate people who are genuinely their cos they want to help you.......we certainly arnt in it for the (shit) money!!!
Reminds me a bit of when I was staggering back to halls from halfway across Birmingham on my last night out up there. I had to get the first train of the day, I was completely off my nut on coke and meph still after being on it for about 12 hours by that point, and was dressed in a very small crop top and hotpants combo (was planning on only going clubbing, not walking miles in the early morning chill).
Well if that wasn't shameful enough when I got on the train the first thing I did was head for the toilet - which was opposite this sweet looking woman and her cute little girl who had all their suitcases like they were off on holiday or something. After a brief struggle I thought the toilet was locked so I gave up and, disheartened, returned to my seat only for the little girl to tap me on the shoulder seconds later to tell me they'd managed to open the toilet for me. I thanked her, and feeling vaguely ashamed rushed into the cubicle - where, of course, I proceeded to rail a huge line of coke off the conveniently placed window ledge. When I came out she smiled at me as well, I felt kind of guilty lol. At least she was young enough to have no idea what I might've been doing![]()

FUBAR......Glad we could help and glad your still here mate!!!....as your probably aware we carry Narcan as well!!!

Sorry to everyone for derailing the thread but this is obviously something your concerned about and I don't want you to worry about it. After the obvious sites I.e. back of hand, brachial vein in arm (main line), foot etc....we would probably try the jugular. If all that fails then it depends..... We can give either IM morphine or oramorph or if its absolutely vital to gain IV access immediatly to admi later fluids if someone has lost a rediculous amount of blood their is a procedure called an venous cut down where we can cut into your arm to find an internal vein but this is hardly ever used...then of course there is inserting a line directly into the bone marrow of your hip with a drill but the last two are very, very rare and I've o my seen them done once and it was by a doctor. Usually we can get a line into your jugular if your ar, hand and foot veins are fucked though and as I say there is always IM morphine (which we've only recently been allowed to do for some reason ) and oramorph. The other procedures are usually reserved for people with more training than a basic paramedic. I wouldn't worry though.......we're very, very good at gaining IV access in poor veins......their are lots of trickz which I won't detail this thread further by going into. Whatever happens we'll look after you...don't worry mate
