Your Favourite Quotes and Sayings

Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't give up.
Anne Lamott

Beautiful!!

Get your Scottish arse back over here Felix.....i need someone to debate the finer points of the benefits and drawbacks of the concept of airborne infantry post Market Garden or some such WW2 relates bollocks with.......

Who else can I have that kind of discourse with?........Rassy?.....OTW?.....Unlikely haha!!!

Come back yet big haggis eating clod!!! ❤❤

Evey don't jump in to comment on a joke that you clearly don't even get. You've been back a total of one day and your starting already....it was a joke based on the fact that Rass and OTW don't like my WW2 thread not a comment on their intelligence...

Plus that's a bit rich coming from you after your drunken ramblings about the bloke...

'I pray one prayer—I repeat it till my tongue stiffens—Catherine Earnshaw, may you not rest as long as I am living; you said I killed you—haunt me, then! Oh, God! it is unutterable! Icannotlive without my life! Icannotlive without my soul!'

Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte.

To see a World in a grain of sand,
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand.

Half a loaf is better than no loaf.

I know it's a really common idiom but my late Granda used to say it.

Also - one that my da has been knocking out for years. He first said it to his friend who was scared of flying.

I'm sure it'll be grand. Sure, there's planes crashing now that have never crashed before.

He just replaces some of the words to suit any situation eg. There's pints being drank now that have never been drank before.

I love this

Yeah it reminds me of a vid you've posted a few times with an elderly sounding chap talking about metaphysics, the dream of life and so on... so I imagine it would be your kind of thing.

From one of my favourite poems.

Matthew Arnold talking of his yearning for a woman he could never be with.

Come to me in my dreams
and then the night will more than pay
the hopeless longing of the day.

NEXT
What are you waiting for?
The next promotion? The next holiday?
The next spiritual high? The next victory? The next relationship?
The next level of enlightenment? The next chance to prove how much you know?
The next life? The next... moment?
What if this ‘next’ never comes?
And even if it does, what if it won't end your seeking?
What if life – and its fulfilment – is always Now?
Then, what’s next?
